  • If the majority of people Senator Specter represents changed their mind on government health care over the course of 14 years (which is plausible), then he's obviously doing a fine job representing them in Washington.

Just because gov't health care is a bad idea (or gov't anything really) doesn't mean the candidate should decide for the people.

Well, you know what I mean. Nobody does a fine job in Washington.... oh look, it's a campaign channel.

  • So, Toomey, you think it's wrong to be able to change your mind on a subject after 15 years of experience? That's very stubborn and unintelligent.

  • Somewhere along the way, Specter stepped into the castration clinic.

  • Bravo Pat! Thank your staff for putting this one together. Absolutely right on the money.

  • If you open ANWR you can pay for Health Care.

  • Arlen the Weasel

  • This is nothing more than the Hegelian Dialectic at work. Control both sides of a debate and you control the outcome.

Until people realize that most republican and democratic politicians are "controlled opposition", we will continue to lose to the interests of globalists bankers and corporations.

    Don't believe it? Watch this:

    urlbam - com/ha/M0037

Specter is also the inventor of the "single bullet theory".

  • Hey Toomey's staff...GREAT JOB!!! I'll be voting for you!

  • There is a big difference - he said he read Clinton's proposal. He admitted he hasn't read these proposals.

  • maybe because Specter had cancer or because since 2000 premiums went up 60% or maybe he know what it like to have people who where supposed to help him kick him to the curb

  • i dont disagree with health care able to all, but make the costs equal. so if you use alot you pay alot. make EVERYTHING equal EVEN costs.

  • How will that help the people who can't afford to pay for health care?

  • But is this hypocrisy? Maybe. Sometimes people sell out...but sometimes they just change their minds. This is a different political climate than in 1994, and the bills being proposed are different. For an attack ad, this is seriously weak sauce.

  • Horribly executed attack on Specter. If this is Toomey's media efforts, the Dems will hold that seat in 2010, even if they'll be in a tougher spot in the national polls then. Ok Toomey, find a nice juicy 10 second sound bite of Specter bashing Clintoncare in 1994 and another one of him praising the govt plan now. Not complicated. This long ramble isn't working. Back to the CSPAN archives with you!

  • Horribly??!?!??! The point of the "10 second sound bite, that actually went for 1 minute and 10 seconds, showed the complicated nature of the HillaryCare plan. If Sphincter was against it -- rightly -- in 1994, why is he for something similar now?

The "long ramble" isn't working on drunken Kool Aid drinkers like you, you mean..... but polls are saying its -- rightly -- working on more Americans and you're in the pathetic minority!!!!

  • Todd, no if that was the point, that it was too complicated then and it still is now but he's for it?!!! then you'd have to have him rambling on with a chart today and praising it. That wasn't the point that it's too complicated, just that he was against govt health care then, and is for it now. Give me 30 hours of CSPAN footage of Specter in 1994 and 2009 and I could kill this feeble attempt. The polls may put Repubs in good position for 2010 even in Demo states like PA--if they can execute!

  • Apologies

  • stupid video. So what is the difference between the 2 plans the one from 1994 and the final version of the one from 2009?

Most people have no idea of what is in and what is out, find out the facts then decide.

  • Is that his magic bullet chart?

  • As they say WISDOM COMES WITH AGE. Maybe Spector had a change of heart and when you live in America you are supposed to have freedom - meaning you have the freedom to switch ideological views and/or parties. Maybe Spector has come to realize how terrible the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies are b/c of the prices that they charge. Thanks Arlen. I love arlen spector he isn't a bitch to any party. He knows that the american public is screaming for change- its not the 90s anymore

  • Bye, bye, Arlen.

  • Illegal amnesty, obscene 'stimulus' spending, thousands of wasteful earmarks, and now smashing our healthcare with government meddling?!? If this 'public option' is so good, why do not the politicians sign on????? No they want gold plated healthcare for themselves, and the trash 'wait in line' healthcare for the rest of us.

Arlen Specter, you are a disgrace to PA. Prepare for your pink slip in 2010. . . Pat Toomey will do a great job in the Senate.

  • Enjoy your retirement Senator Specter, you're done.

  • as he became older he realized he didnt have to be in the hands of insurance companies.... like they say the older the wiser

  • He isn't at the hands of the insurance companies, he has gold plated healthcare. Now he wants the rest of us to be at the mercy of unelected government health boards.

You see, we can change our health insurance, but we cannot change the unelected government health boards.

  • 90% of the people that have health-care in America like what they have. 70% of Canadians have their own private insurance because things such as heart attacks are not paid for by their system. Also companys in Canada give benefits to their employees saying if they need life saving operations they will fly their employee to America for treatment.

Leave my fucking healthcare alone, Thanks.

  • Q: What's the difference between Sen. Specter in 1994 and Sen. Specter in 2009?

A: HE GREW THE FUCK UP

    Thanks :)

  • Q: The difference between Sen Specter in 2009 and 2010

A: HE WILL BE RETIRED BY PAT TOOMEY!!!

    Thanks :)

  • But Pat Toomey is a douchebag

  • Like you, Arlen Sphincter is an orangutan's rectum

  • fail

  • Yes, you did!

    So will Arlen Sphincter

  • durf durf you made a funnie

  • you;'re still an ass, Ramen

  • thanks for sharing

  • 15 years of the system spinning out of control and what it has become today.

  • The diagram look like your diagram ot the magic bullet that killed Kenendy you Warren Commission Traitor -- How long does it take for you guys to go away

  • He's done a good job for Pennsylvania. He was one of few sane Republican voices under Bush; I expect him to remain a centrist now, when it is still needed, under the Dems.

  • If you describe spending 150% of income in 2009 as 'sane', maybe you should take accounting 101 again. . .

Remember Specter is sticking YOU with the bill, including $10,000 additional debt per household just for the 'stimulus'. That doesn't even include the omnibus bill stuffed with 7,000 earmarks that Specter voted for and Obama signed. . . Those are NOT sane votes.

  • So ? That just means that he's flexible with his idea....Things changed, and people is not an exception....Glad he knows what is best 4 him....Let me remind u that he is a POLITICIAN.....

  • sounds like the same amount of pages or close... sure it is not the same plan as Billy Boy and the Bush's are class mates and the Osama team is the same as well (sorry meant Obama I think). Didn't work because Bob Dole and now again it is before us by the same people that brought it to you in the beginning.

  • thanks

  • The difference between me and you.

About 5 bank accounts, 3 ounces and 2 vehicles.

  • xzibit is the shit

  • toomey is a rino (republican in name only). im a rep and will be voting for sestak.

  • So, DillonX, what you are saying is he was a crooked bastid then, but at least now he's a crooked bastid for the 40% of the people who like this bill? To me, if you are crooked, no matter if you agree with me or not, you are still crooked and have no place or credibility, in such an important debate.

  • esq-- no what I'm saying is that anyone can reform.

I could stand corrected, but I believe Sen Specter took over $7 million dollars from the Health Care Industry & they figured they had him in their pocket for life - lobbying w/ charts on their behalf.

But late in life he grew a conscience & said to hell w/ that - I'm representing the American Public now

& i respect him for that.

  • from 2005-10 he recieved more than 7 million dollars from healthcare. Also mcdonalds through in another $35,000. So no hes not getting betters hes getting worse

  • There is no difference: Specter- the political crack whore- would still sell his childrens' livers to stay in office.

  • No Senator has impressed me more in recent weeks than Senator Specter.

You can go to several websites & see that the Senator, as a Republican, received many millions from the Health Care Industry - possibly more than any other Senator - causing him to become in effect a lobbyist for the Health Insurance Companies.

But once he left the GOP he said - to hell with it, I'm gonna now start supporting the American Public - GOOD FOR HIM!

  • Hes not supporting the american public. the guys a scumbag who jumps ship when things look bad. All the money he's recieved from the Health Care industry was for his reelection. The only reason he hasn't gotten money from Health Care while a democrate is because he hasn't RUN as a democrate

  • OK, so he left the dark side. What's the problem?

  • he is just like a lot of politicians he says what he thinks will get him re-elected

  • The 2010 revolution is coming

  • Comment removed

  • Since he now is senile, that would make sense why he would now support the new plan. Specter is a disgrace of a senator, a person, and he should be put in jail for treason. I would hope that someone in his position would have the goal in mind to improve the country, but as this video makes even more apparent, he is in it only for himself.

Anyone who votes for him should receive psychoanalysis as well.

  • you think a person who leaves the republican party should be tried for treason?

    im not suprised...

the repubican 11th commandment has always been: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican...

and that my un-friend is what is really disgraceful about both sides...sacrificing intellectual honesty for party preservation...

what i see is a guy who WAS only in it for himself...and now is actually trying to do the right thing by helping to craft SENSIBLE health care policy.

  • He should be tried for treason because he is not working in the best interests of his country. His job is to represent the people that voted him into office. Meanwhile, by his own admission, he is changing parties to increase his odds at winning the next election.

He does not have the best interests of his country or his constituents in mind, only his reelection. It has nothing to do w/ the Repub. party, anyone who changes party like this is evil.

  • by ur ridiculous standard...a standard which by the way dosent equate to the definition of treason under article 3...

....everyone in congress should be tried for it...

throwing out words like treason and evil...makes ur case less credible...

but maybe im wrong...maybe ur an honest broker who said the same thing about Lieberman when he "betrayed" democratic interests...but i doubt it...

  • The difference is that he is now senile.
