  • Just wondering, because I'm in the shop for a rickenbacker... What model is that rick and how much did you pay for it?

  • what are the chords that you play after the first rock shuffles?

and what are the next few chords after that?

    awesome playing dude.

  • Félicitations! Très vigoureuse interprétation... Bien que gratouillant un peu, je ne m'imaginais pas la partie de guitare aussi variée, aussi compliquée... C'est pas aussi ardu que du Robert Fripp, mais quand même...

  • You sir have mad skillz!

  • Hey MJ are you using your tone cut knob on your Vox amp? I cant get that compressed sound without the tone cut unless I get a compressor

  • That Ricky looks amazing! Great playing!

  • Love that guitar, man! What year is it?

  • Do you by chance do the rhythm to "All My Lovin'? Harrison and Lennon each did something quite unique as I recall.

  • That's not Lennon's Ricky is it?? LOL!!!!!!!!

  • @tomnanD3 i am doubting over if that is a actually lennon...... :D

  • good job mate what effects you using?

  • great job it shows very well just how far advanced the early " immature " beatle songs were constructed. His guitar played very well with the drums as a good rhythm player does. throw in the unique leads of harrison and you got a style of playing that imho still has yet to be duplicated. harrison turned notes of the chords into little lead parts. just floors me when the early work gets dismissed. and why most cover bands dont even come close.

  • Very fluid playing. Lock that guitar up. I want it!!!!!

  • I never thought strumming could be difficult, but this is! Great job!

  • He treats that guitar the way you should treat a woman - tough love.

  • hey man, you got on of the most beautiful and meaningful guitars ever made: please treat it with respect and PUT THE SHOULDER PAD ON YOUR SHOULDER, thks Berh

  • that guitar looks like its older than jesus

  • @TheDcervi It was played by Jesus.

  • I've been wondering for decades how that song was played. You just answered it for me. Amazing job.

  • Great Job very powerful , I like the way you take charge. of that GEE TAR

  • You rock....

  • Dude, I'm a complete Beatles addict and have been playing the guitar since I was about 8. I'm 24 now and I tell you: your guitar playing here is perfect! You got not only all the chords and variations right, but also the sound of the guitar.

    Congratulations!

By the way, your guitar is beautiful.

  • Hi,

    very nice guitar.

    greetings from Hamburg, Germany

    Teffy-

  • not too easy

  • WOW!!!! You Blew me away! You sound just like John! OMG! Is that an original 1964 Rickenbacker?

  • @yellowsub68 no

  • You and Private Ticker should do a duet sometime: you on rhythm and Ticker on lead.

  • Nigger nigger row the boat!

  • Thumbs if u want me 2 teach the lead guitar

  • ... the guy playing the guitar has a great ear and for once someone pulled the part out of the gears .... terrific job and yes the way John Lennon played guitar was rock and roll all the way ... no funny business ..... mark Johnson

  • I truly enjoyed this! Thanks for posting :)

  • Cool.

  • EXCELLENT, young man!!!

  • YES!

  • that rickenbacker has sure took a beating!

  • no play like paul pleas

  • Where did you buy that guitar??? How many?

  • @gamalielllllll Its a 320b Rickenbacker, bought at a convention or something. Probably half retail price, like $1500/ 2000

  • I think he said in an older video that it was closer to $1000, maybe a tiny bit less. He got someone to Lennonize it a bit.

  • @gamalielllllll yeah, it got like 25% shorter!

  • Holy cow man. This guitar part is crappin' HARD.

  • Awesome playin!!!!!!!

  • I WANT YOUR RICKENBACKER! SEND ME IT NOW!

  • Yeah beat that naughty Rickenbacker to hell!

  • This is played so perfectly!!!!

  • @MusicMan44144 - CARE TO BET ?

  • Great guitar, great sound !

  • 0:38. Anybody know the note on the pull-off?

  • That is definetly the mersey sound guitar!!! Nice job!!

  • Beautiful guitar. I'm relatively late to the Beatles party but it looks and sounds like you've captured lennon really well.

  • You should have done it on a Gibson J160E

  • Great looking guitar! Great style! Great playing! Great sound!

  • Well done!!

  • Great job! Lennon is the uncredited genius of rhythm guitar. Really well done!

  • Your the next John Lennon

  • Do you put the singing and the other instruments on your computer or CD player while recording or ?

  • What type of Rick is this? please reply, i'm so curious.

  • @bubsadoozy rickenbacker 320b

  • You should do a Beatles tribute band.

  • WOW!!!

  • Hey mj! what is that chord you do at 1:05

  • @meta9luigi pretty sure it's a G6 , though it's hard to see exactly where his fingers are .

    basically do D at the 5th , B at the 5th , high e at the 3nd and G at the 4rd

  • Lennon played his Ricky as though he didn't care what happened to it. You capture that feeling and it comes through in the music. That's why your cover is closer to the original than anyone else.

  • Real men play rhythm guitar!!!

  • This guys done his homework!!

  • God that guitar is just so beautiful

  • wow

  • @chilibro they each play a different part

  • @Beatlesrock1966 i mean the actual guitar not the notes and stuff

  • @chilibro no, there's no difference. it's all how you play it

  • great guitar man!

  • mjsokes, this is a spot on cover, might I add that that is a beautiful guitar. I would tell you I want to hold your hand but I am a guy. Peace Love and Music always - BoyMoptop

  • which chords do you use? can you tell me?

  • They way lennon plays is fucking scary :D

  • @whiteheatukband Yet, completely necessary

  • AMAZING tone!!!

Did you roll off some treble to get that darker sound?

  • next time, we eat this in MONO.

  • @ZeroG84 Epic Meal Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @Romazio7 yum

  • Excellent.Great job!

  • One of the few songs John plays a 5th string Bar chord (D)...John hated playing 5th string bar chords and I can't think of any other song I have ever seen him play one except this one. He loved 6th string bar chords, open chords and 6th string chords grabbing the 6th string with his thumb...as well as open D chords up and down the neck....looks like a 320 you've got..nice and battered like John...lol

  • Where's the BIG surprice??

  • @msjokes You selling that Rick??

  • the part at 36 seconds in do you mute the low E string?

  • do you have the tabs for this?

  • im trying to follow yur chords but i cant get the right sound man

  • Hi!

  • very, very good. You got it down perfectly.

  • People are such asses, mjsokes knows how to play, and he has a beautiful rickenbacker, which i believed he changed a bit himself.

  • That was awesome!

  • How old is that Rick?

  • dammm nice rick and nice playing

  • HE DONT LOOK LIKE HE PLAYED IT THAT WAY ON THE eD SULLIVAN SHOW !

  • @gdanks1 you do know that he played it differently live than on the record.

  • I see your Vox amp in the back...is that the cambridge? Nice!!

  • can u make a tutorial my listening by ear version is not very accurate

  • Please teach this song

  • could you pass me the chords/ tabs ?

  • a question.how can I do the b chord in the verse?

  • so do I(I answer to your sentence"i lovethis guitar part"). you see that there is a study on the movement of the 2 hands in this song, specially the right hand, that is perfect in the rhitm. you are very cool !!!!

  • This Beatles enthusiast is very impressed. BTW, my first Rickenbacker was a little 320 "B", very similar to the one in the video. Pity I can't play so well!

  • @connorbassmaster you know i was talking about the actual guitar and not the notes and stuff right?

  • @chilibro

The answer is obvious. No it does not matter what the guitar you use for rhythm and lead is. You can use the same guitar if you want. Different guitars just give the lead a different sound and tone that makes it stand out or if the rhythm is honky or punchy, it can give the song more bang and something to tap along to.

  • @JohnLennoninmyGuitar i was just wantin to make sure

  • is there a difference in a lead and rhythem guitar?

  • Hi ! What amp do you have 6

    thanks

  • Your playing is awesome - and while i'm no expert it is clearly incredibly accurate.

    Thanks so much!!!

  • is there a difference between a lead guitar and rhythem guitar?

  • great and i know its a rickenbacker the model you,ve got is the first one lennon got for £100, and the colour was natural, and he had it painted down the road from me in birkenhead which is over the mersey from liverpool, i haboud one and sold it and im still crying, ive gotta get another one, ive just bought a gibson j160 70 anniversary and i know there is no chance of me selling this one, got more chance of going to bed with the pussycat dolls, seen all your videos and there brilliant great

  • 1:04-1:06 what are those chords?

  • @MarkRigor17 d minor and g minor

  • @Roystothecoolkid would you tab those chords for me? it seems different. thanks btw.

  • @MarkRigor17 Try E minor and B7 (just the low notes on the B7 and don't forget to release your fingers to get the staccato effect on the B7 (7 times hold and release)

  • @TheMusicmaam One more thing - that B7 chord is important to know because if you add with your pinky the 9th (3rd fret 2nd string) now you're playing the Jimi Hendrix chord (B7 add 9th only move it up the neck preferably to around the fifth fret so you can play the open low E string with it). It's the best chord out there!

  • @TheMusicmaam But D (Fret 3 String 2) isn't the ninth of B, it's the minor third. So instead of playing a B7, you're playing a Bm7 (Which is still a cool chord). Also if you refer to a chord as "add 9", it means that there is no seventh, but if you say B9, it implies that there is a seventh. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm kind of a chord theory nazi... hahaha

  • @CallSignMusic You obviously know alot of theory and your observations are probably correct. The Jimi Hendrix chord is harmonically ambiguous - it is both minor and major at the same time. It's adding an augmented 9th - If you want to read about it look up Hendrix chord in Wikipedia. If you play it on the 6 fret -

4th string; 7th fret 5th and 3rd strings; 8th fret 2nd string you are playing the first chord of Purple Haze. The fingering is so close to the B7 in this song i'd point it out.

  • @TheMusicmaam You're right, I did misname the chord. It's not a B7 because I forgot that the major 3rd was still there. That's a very strange chord, I'll have to try it. Does it have any name other than the jimi hendrix chord?

  • @CallSignMusic It's a dominant 7th # 9th chord, or augmented 9th. Jimi Hendrix used it but so did Eric Clapton (Outside Women Blues for example) and many others. Again, i only mentioned this chord because it seemed so easy to just add the pinky to the B7 chord in the beatles song and try a really big deal chord which is actually so easy to play. I thought someone might find it useful.

  • @TheMusicmaam the chords i was talking about were d and Gm

  • i admired your guitar and your answers.....
