I was there and I don't remember 2 shows which due to my state in those days doesn't mean there wasn't. The Stones blew everyone away after a smoking opening by Ike and Tina.
Was this the first or second show ? I was there that night, and as I remember, there were two shows, the first one was supposed to go off at about nine and the second around midnight. However, there was an ice hockey game earlier and it took them forever to change the setup for a concert. I saw the second show show, which started at about three in the morning. It was surrealistic, coming out of the Forum after seeing the Stones and then seeing the dawn. Great show...Mick Taylor was the best.
Some of the best Rolling Stones music came out with Mick Taylor. However, they were growing stale with him after 72, and they may have become worse. Ron Wood was a breath of fresh air. It's too bad that Jagger and Richards coudn't get their stuff together in the 80's. Mick wanted to be too much of a solo superstar.
@josh71111 Yeah, I'm sure he played the Forum. Wish I'd seen him. I grew up in San Fernando Valley, CA., and he played at a place called Devonshire Downs Fairgrounds, but I didn't make it. I'll always remember the poster I had on my wall of him, in black & white playing that right-handed Strat with the strings reversed. It hung right next to my Brigett Bardot poster with her in a leather mini-skirt, sitting on a Harley.
@josh71111 Hello 60's fan! I was at the ripe age of 16 in '69, and fortunately was an avid concert goer, since 1966. I was in attendance at 6 Hendrix shows, including Devonshire Downs, (as conley54 mentioned), L.A. Forum. And, I of course went twice out of the 5 nights(if I recal correctly) the Stones played the L.A.Forum in Nov.'69, which in my opinion, was their best sounding tour ever. I even bought a Fender "Mustang"bass, as bill played at those Forum shows, which sounded thick and full.
Except for Mick Jagger, the Stones just stand there and play. That's the way it should be, I don't like all the posing and fooling around KR and RW have done recently. Makes the playing not as good. All that posing just makes me think they're kind of bored with actually playing the songs.
I was at this concert (second show) in 1969 at the Forum. They couldn't clear the ice fast enough from the afternoon hockey game so the 8pm show went on about 11pm and the second concert didn't start 'til almost 2AM. They played an extra long set to make it up to the audience. I never got home until after 6am the next morning ... GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES!
WOW.....this footage is BANANAS! Thanks for sharing. My folks saw them the day after the MSG shows in NYC at the Forum in Boston. They still have the ticket stubs! I found a boot of the whole show. They were there on a date! If only I could find footage of that one. The Stones 1969 tour was epic. This footage proves that once again. Mick Taylor killing it on the SG! I love it!
Yep dkstryker, Ronnie duz Look More Like A STONE, And I Do Give Him Credit For All He's Done, i Especially Enjoyed His Pedal Steel Playing On " Faraway Eyes ",,,,,, Im Just More Into The Style That Mick Taylor Had W/ The Stones. : )
Only If Mick Taylor Would Have Remained With The Stones, Ron Wood Is A Great Guitar Picker, But Hes Never Fit In...Sorry All You Ron Wood Fans. Mick Taylor Played With Soul
absolutly ron can be sloppy sometimes and seems careless but he has more of a stones personality than taylor but yeah taylor is my favorite and most inspiring guitar player to me and inspires me and my playing style.
My mom told me she was at this concert and I figured it was worth a shot seeing if there was any video of it on youtube. This clip just blew her mind! Thank you!
Mick's licks on "Satisfaction" sound pretty darn Cream-y

Mick was great but that doesn't take away from Ronnie's playing. I'd say Ronnie fits in with the Stones great. He's Keith's bookend. Cool video.

Mick Taylor's playing back then was like a whirling dervish---it could put you into a trance when he played those stunning lead solos!

Wow! I have never seen Mick Taylor look so animated while playing any other time! Good find.
