@fonseca a lot of what he wanted to do was blocked by the city council. the council would not even look at or consider his proposals, so if he was not as effective as he could have been that may have to do with it.

machine was successful. Daley was smart enough to give out pieces of the pie to other groups. (His son does not make a pimple on his father's elbow.)

lol! I don't think that would be the best option but I feel where you coming from. Daley uses the same strategy his father used to stay in office.I think it's hilarious how this man remains to be mayor by using the same tactic he used for over 10 years. I won't knock his hustle though. Just think about the word revenue and think about daley does that ring a bell. If not then what about segragation. He could have easily got ran out of office but think about the people that went against him.

I'm a white guy from Chicago. I can truly say that I liked Harold. Unlike today's black politicians, he did not divide and use racism as a crutch. Harold united people and treated everyone well.

Both Him and Daley passed Away in offfice. I rmber seeing footage of him when the Bears went to the superbowl Calling cheering for them. who knws what he would hve done or changed if he had lived longer.

Man. How I miss "Mr. Mayor", Harold Washington. Though I've moved from Chicago to Virginia, I have mayor Washington's official picture hanging in my office. And now, I tell my children of his legacy as Chicago's first African American mayor.

My LAWD!, I love washington too. Im from chicago, I'm only 31 so my memory of he probablly is as in depth as yours but my dad speaks of him all the time and i have his books. I do remember he as a youngster too. Why do all of our good ones have to die (that's if he really died, if you know what i mean). God i wish he were still around.
