Thanks for posting this. Brought back great nostalgic memories of the park and all those wonderful people who had first worked there from the very first day of employment. 1985 I was one of the first 18 supervisors employed to train staff to operate food stalls in the park. We had to prepare and to set up the located food outlets for the grand opening of the park. Great time.
im 14. i did go to Wonderland, however i was very young. 3 or 4? i never got to go before it closed down. I still have my wonderland tickets stashed away. Several of them actually. i wish i could go back to wonderland and experience it. lets hope the new Wet and Wild will be our band aid, even though nothing can be better

2:24 i remember that ride i just remember not going on it cause of something called height restrictions it makes me cry that i had to watch everyone else in my family talkin about it when they got off and i had to go on the bloody ferris wheel

Some of my best childhood and teenage memories include WONDERLAND. One memory that I'd like to share is when my dad made me ride on the pirate ship. I was so scared but dad was telling me I had no choice because I was on the line already. Well, I loved it! The snowy river rampage was another fav". I loved the place and visited most school holidays. Dan388, thank you for posting this. What a loss it is for the kids today. Cheers
I actually feel sad after watchn this i mean i loved wonderland but iv just realised how much. So sad theres not a good theme park in sydney now. Do you remember there ad, WOULDNT IT BE NICE, IF THE WORLD WAS WONDERLAND!!!!
Great vid. Thanks for the memories. Such a shame the kids these days have no where left to go. No wonder all they do is cause trouble! Wonderful was our destination of choice in the holidays! It defiantly kept us amused and out of trouble!
Use to go to wonderland every year in christmas holidays from like 9-14 yrs old til it closed. Cant remember names of many rides but I loved the ride with like 70 single seats hanging from the long cables that spun around and the one @ 2:22 scared hell out of me.
i know i was saddened to find out they had closed down i went there as a kid i rode the demon and the beastie or the bush beastie it was the bigger of the two ...your right it was the best theme park ever...it closed 5 days after my daughter was born and i wanted to take her there but i cant now .....Australias wonderland you are missed and always will be by hundreds of people who past through your gates ....R.I.P. wonderland
i loved this place with a passion and so did every other australian.
its so sad im in tears that this place was closed down in 2004.
i can still remember the first time i was here ......... i could hear kiss from a rose by seal playing and people walking off with the biggest smiles ever!
it was a truly unique place and i miss it sooo much
Fucking Malaysians you fucked it up, you took a piece of Australia's innocence and goodness and wholesome faimly entertainment and butt fucked it, we should destroy something you hold dear!!! and that's not racist that's just we are all pissed off at you for fucking it up
I feel the same mate... but were shouldnt have sold it to them.. The NSW government should have brought it- keep 1000's of people employed, keep an icon, given it even 18mths renno, and came back as one park that could rival all of QLD's :(
Yes the snow cones, the snow cones...how could they close it down...I remember when I was 5 or something I entered this comp in the newspaper where you had to get all the hanna barberra stickers and you won free entry to Wonderland, do you remember that?
I miss the Snowy River Rampage. I remember being annoyed standing on the bridge watching the other riders, the timing of the water cannons was all wrong! They always missed the the boats by about 2 seconds.
What I loved the most was at the carousel, trying to get 8 people into a boat and strapped into the velcro belts before we hit the rapids.
Man I miss that place.
I reckon NSW has lost tourists over this. The only fun park we have is Jamberoo, but that is about 2 hours drive from Sydney.
How could the riders control when the water cannons sprayed? I thought they were controlled by triggers or motion censors. I went on this ride dozens of times and no-one told me how to control the cannons!
Wonderland was owned by a private organisation, but the state Govt should have bought it instead of letting it be turned into a business park.
Why the fuck did they close it down? sydney has nothing now :( how scared of the bush beast i used to be it shake heaps lol and the pirate ship, the demon, space probe, had a real family and innocence that the qld theme parks lack. maybe it was just the 90's
You're right man you are so right it had what the Qld parks never could pull off...I've been to all the Qld parks and they had nothing on Wonderland but places like this where that family environment and wonderous land of childhood innocence still exists...unfortunately you'd probably have to go overseas for it
I spent a large part of my childhood here aswell and my parents were getting sick of doing the same rides every weekend and holiday and they were looking forward to when i could go on my own or drive there myself.. but it never got to that =/
Wonderland is the place my mum worked at before it was even open untill the day it closed. I was one week old when I first went there and I went there as often as I could. I always wanted to go back ever since I can remember. It's pretty crap that I can't even take my mates there at my age which you can tell from my name. Oh well, it's gone now (stupid @#^*$+-*$#%#^ malaysions had to go #@^* it up) but this is a great tribute. R.I.P Wonderland :(
Even though it's been a few years now since the park has closed, I still feel sad everytime I see or hear something about the old Australia's Wonderland. The park was destined to fail once the Malasians got their hands on it. But hey, they made their cash after the sale of the land.
Stupid fucking japs come over to Australia and buy our stuff then destroy it fuck they don't noe what respect i luna park is shit wonderland was the best thing that happend to sydney it was a great aussie icon
one day i was thinking of re-visiting wonderland after years away from new south wales. then a couple years ago i hear that itz fully demolished? i feel so shattered as to wonderland being my first theme park =( R.I.P wonderland
I loved Australias wonderland. Had alot of great times there with family and friends. It was sad to see it go. I remember going there when it first opened.
wonderland was the best theme park because it was a typical aussie outback place. it didnt look heaps modern, it was just a theme park in a bushy place. it was an aussie icon 4sure!

luna park is rubbish!!!!! wonderland was the freaking best in the world!@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ WE USED TO BUY A YEARLY PASS EVERY YEAR!!!! STUPID INDUSTRIAL PPL! THEY CAN GO TO HELL!!....R.I.P. Wonderland =[[[[[[[[[[[[[
I have only been to Wonderland once, back in about 1990, but had a lot of fun. I just happened to be googling the old theme parks around sydney, and found this video...and thought it was worthy of a comment...Well done sir!!!
With Wonderland gone I think Sydney has forgotten to have fun. I had so much fun there and its a tragedy that future generations won't get to experience it. I was so sad when it closed
oh man, im just after returning to oz from being overseas for over a decade, and one of the first things i wanted to do was get a paddle pop, a vb and head to wonderland. this is awful, why did they destroy it??? and more importantly, is there anything similar planned to replace it?
It is so sad that they had to tear down such an awesome park! I had the best memories there as a kid and now others will be deprived of the experience. What sucks the most is they tore down this park and now want to build parks on the Sunshine Coast?!?! Go figure... They just don't have a clue! Wonderland was so much better than the other Australian themeparks and is going to be sadly missed!!!
People ask me why I hate Australia. This is one reason. The destruction of something for nothing. We live in a backwards hick country. :( NSW doesn't even have one single theme park! How pathetic is that?
Y did u have to go? Y???? whhaaaaaaaagh!!!! I will never foget wonderland! When i waz there wich waz their last day every thing waz being demolished! sooooo ssad!! R.I.P wonderland!
man this brings me back to good memorys my dad took me there man i miss it i wish it still stood everyones childhood rose from that place i grew up with it always looking at it from the highway i miss the view.....great video.
Thanks guys for all your comments. It all just proves that Wonderland really did touch a whole heap of 80s/90s kids like it did with me. For kids, it really was a different world, where dreams came to life - cartoons, music, rides, shows, laughs. I know someone who has the actual footage of the Bush Beast being demolished - apparently they used the cables from the Skyrider to wrap around and pull her over, but she didn't budge so they just blasted (at greater cost) the main support beams. Cheers
@i loved this place i would go here even if i was an adult with no kids y is wonderland gone they bought the land and buildings r only on a small part were the space probe was theres no building wtf y kill wonderland and not use the land fuk lg
@dan388 I agree, wonderland was the best, last went there in 98 when my oldest was 6 months old, what a shame I can't take my kids there and have them experience what we did as kids... sniff, so sad:(
I have also visted the site of Wonderland... a few times and it makes me so sad to see whats there now.... only thing left is the name of the road :( How could anyone pull down a theme park!!! With all our memories!!
Only if that last company didnt buy it!!!! Cant even say their names cause it makes me angry... Well at least I can say i grew up with Wonderland... "wouldnt it be wonderful if the world was wonderland"
I knew I shouldn't have watched this video. It maked me so angry to know that somewhere so magical to me when I was a kid could be demolished for no other reason than to make a multi millionaire just that little bit richer.
Unfortunatley the land was worth alot more as factories and storage. If the NSW government and Blacktown council didnt rezone the land it would still be used for recreation. Whether or not Wonderland could have survived is a different matter as it was losing money very quickly but some believe this was a deliberate ploy to force the rezoning.
I miss wonderland so much.. I have had some great memories of that place. I shouldve made the most of it before they closed it down, but i didnt. Watching this brought back so many memories.. R.I.P Wonderland. Thank you for making an awesome video..
I got so depressed watching that video.. I wish it was still here. I went there heaps of times and it ws the first theme park I ever went to and rode a roller coaster at.
Seeing an empty block of land isn't right, it should still be there.
That was awesome. My Dad was the Rides Manager there for many years before the Wildlife Park opened and he become the Operations Manager of that.
Brings back a lot of very happy childhood memories. I used to go to Wonderland every weekend because we got in for free thanks to Dad. Was bloody awesome.
I also commented on the 1987 Commercial, i'm in it. Check that out too!
Wonderland was my first theme park too. I remember convincing my parents to take me and my bro there for my 9 birthday in 1987. From that day on we all had wonderpasses. I still have a key ring you hold up to the light with our families photo they took once you entered the park. Classic. I always hoped someone, or some company would step in and stop the buy out, unfortunately this never happened. Great vid mate!
Its very sad that Wonderland is gone, but at least we had the chance to go and enjoy it. I also used to enjoy the Water Works at Mt Druit. Ahhh... the 80s were the best of times.
Very good video, bought back many memories. Seems only like just yesterday I was there on the last day. I can still remember all the theming too, park layout, and oh, I hate it. An interesting fact, some of the demolishers refused to demolish the park and started a petition, sadly it did not work.
:( I miss that place.. Watching this brought back memories.. wonderland, its all gone now.. wonderland was a great place to be.. even if its expesive it was worth it.... the memories remain :) I wish i could go back to wonderland one last time.. Thanks for making this vid..
That was awesome! What great memories I have of Wonderland, from my dad dragging me on the Pirate Ship(literally)and then loving every second of it, to every school holidays with a youth group, to taking my son there up until its closure. Thank You dan388. Well done! :-)
Dude this vid is awesome. I can't beleive they ripped 'our park' down for corp gains. I will never forget each and every time I went there from the first year it opened to weeks before it closed. What's Sydney got now?
Don't stress guys. They're building a wet and wild world in prospect (not too far from the old wonderland site).

There's one thing about winning molopoly... if you win, you lose. We have more money right? Are we happier? What is this country becoming? *sigh*

Very good video, bought back many memories. Seems only like just yesterday I was there on the last day. I can still remember all the theming too, park layout, and oh, I hate it. An interesting fact, some of the demolishers refused to demolish the park and started a petition, sadly it did not work.
