Fortunate us we nowadays can choose, but the occasions to listen to these historic jewels are rare. Maybe the person who disliked was disturbed by the noise in the background?
I remember 20+ years ago first hearing this piece. I am sure there is a musical explanation, but it makes me think of Scott Joplin and yet it remains one of my favorite Maestro efforts and this fortepiano is an exciting revelation, we should be honored to see this man at his work...and Melvin Tan's playing I enjoy significantly.
I suppose that the bastard who disliked this did so just because of the disappointment that pianos didn't sound as a modern Steinway back then...
