  • it seriously dont get much better than this song!

  • frequently moved to tears by this song

  • Discovered GLB back in 2007 after hearing them on NPR's World Cafe. Ordered Mighty Joe Moon. When I got the CD I put it in and started listening. By the time the CD had finished I had went online and bought every GLB and Grant Lee Phillips solo album I could find. Truly amazing artist. I have no idea how they didn't get big back in the nineties.

  • @ctownwestside - If you want some GLB B-Sides & other recordings, some good songs, send me an email - linkjones1979 At yahoo Dot com - put your user name in all uppercase in the subject so I know it's not spam. MJM was my first CD too. Got it when Mockingbirds was released for airplay. Oh, from brew-town here.

    Cheers

  • @antonjw WOW I LIKE THIS! GOOD MAN!

  • @antonjw OMG I sent this song to the guy who had this site. It's Brother Lantern from the 2 Meter Sessions. He's from Russia, was in college at the time, Brilliant guy and nice. I did the coding, provided some of the info, & scans on the Singles for his Discography Page. I have Grant's first official recording, a cassette single with 3 songs, Fuzzy, Wish You Well & It's The Life. They gave it out when GLB was just starting. "It's The Life" is a demo. It was the BEST GLB Fan Site.

  • ♥♥

  • this song commands a certain reverance. as does 'Rock of Ages'

  • however he does it is just fine

  • yup.....!

  • Great version, but this is one of those songs that should be played quietly, almost in a hushed voice.

  • yeah my wifes sister was watching that show a couple of years back and i thought oh shit that's grant. sounded cool just playing in the background. i actually am from L.A but i live in a small town in arkansas now. i like it much better. was grant big in italy?

  • where ya at in arkansas?im irish, from dublin, livin in memphis.this place is mental.the quiet not get to ya?

  • wish i could've been there. he's awesome live.

in a way i'm kind of glad he never hit the mainstream like other bands around that time. it has kept his music pure and fresh and not stale from so much airplay. corazon bello i agree

  • Right. maybe the only time when Grant became popular in television was on the Tv series Glamour Girls, wich can also been seen here, i remember that he was dressin' some kind of strange eyeglasses that time..Are you from L.A., California?California maybe is my favourite place, talking about musical choices, present and past.i'm also abig fan of Steve Wynn,Mark Eitzel,Ry Cooder,Dave Alvin and Blasters, Warren Zevon,Jackson Browne,Counting Crows,David Crosby and many others. you're lucky to be there

  • Just discovered this song from an episode of House M.D. It took me a while to find it, but downloaded it from Amazon. You can buy his album for 9.99, and it has 30 songs on it. Having said that, I only downloaded 3 songs that I found to be great, including this one. "Mockingbirds" and "Mr. know it all". They have similar moods to this one. Bass notes on the Mp3 really set this tune off.

  • I congratulate on your finding it. I found Might Joe Moon back in 1992/93 came across in borders -I was 23. I listened to the first 4 songs and immediately thought Lennon,Dylan, Floyd because of the airyness of the buffalo as a band. I have met and chatted with Grant at all the shows he does in NYC, and have seen him at Lago, and hun gout with his bassist. Check his site

  • :D hey this looks familiar! Thanks for posting this

  • one of my favourite songs. x

  • Magic

  • great song, but for ne the best song in that album is ROCK OF AGES

  • i agree that rock of ages is great but my favorite is honey don't think.me and my wifes anthem.

  • oh, great song too. his second album is a masterpiece, as well the first. but the entire Grant's discography in my opinion stills so underrated, and he's a great live performer. i'm very lucky because he usually played live here in Italy several times, and every time he was great.

  • i agree with you. very underrated. i saw him once in a club in los angeles. i can still remember him playing rock of ages and lady godiva and me on his acoustic by himself. beautiful. i would have loved to see him in italy. you have great taste in music amigo.

  • thank you so much for your kind words. first time i saw him was in 1994, in reggio emilia, Italy, my hometown. he was the opener for Patty Smith, but in my opinion his concert was way better than the patty's one. i mean that after all this time i just can remember the stunning sound of his electrified-acoustic guitar, a kind of sound that i never heard before, maybe only from the Neil Young's Crazy Horse. that' why Grant is a great live performe, because of his great soul and heart. thanks.

  • So beautiful~

  • I LOVE this song =]

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS IN THE UNIVERSE

  • Oh wow, this is amazing. From one of the greatest albums ever. THANK YOU!
