Nickleback is a bunch of guys who cater their music to slutty girls who love to f*ck , its complete garbage. That comparison ruined my morning, OLP is the best band ever
@TheRaider52 I do agree with you that once they lost their original guitarist and producer and once Bob Rock came in he turned OLP to mainstream pop rock garbage. That seems to be what Bob Rock does with every band he becomes involved with. Have you noticed how Metallica, 311, and the Offspring have fallen off the map over the last decade? Take a guess as to why.
it's hard to sing as great as you are in the studio live because the live environment is so uncontrolled, if monitor is low or just eq'd wrong you can lose you're ear sight.
studio is so controlled, vocals are recorded after the band so it;s you in a room alone with a high dollar set of earphones
with a voice light Raine's, it would be even harder since he switches from chest to head voice so often, coupled with varying octaves and key changes the band used to do.
and the acoustics in an outside venue are terrible. olp are amazing live, i've seen them 4 times, this performance is awesome though, i don't see the problem.
Raine's voice climaxed live in 1998, and went down from there. As for studio, it climaxed in 2001 and went down from there. But this live performance is still great.
This live version is better than the studio. I remember being disappointed when I heard the album. Same goes for Not Afraid at the Junos. Both of these songs were over produced in the studio.
Raine struggles a bit live. To his defense, it is actually really difficult to control the male voice when it goes into falsetto. I have seen them many times since the first album and am a huge fan, but it is true that he struggles, sorry. I am a record producer - it is my job to know this stuff. If you think differently you have a bad sense of pitch or you are in denial.P.S. Please post more OLP Woodstock vids.
i like his performance, but i noticed that they went steadily downstream as he went on. Like now he can't hit those high notes on this song or like supermans dead
This is one of my favorite performances by OLP, very hard to sing, a lot of falsetto. I'd like to see anyone in the world try to sing like Raine Maida.
no i'm not , i'm just saying raine is not a good live singer ! a great studio singer but here the notes are always higher or lower !
he notes he can hit live are often wrong! Of course it's going to be a little rough, this song is from Happiness... the album was overproduced. i gree but it's not well singing !
Nevertheless ; it's a great band with great albums !
what the hell are you guys talking about? i didnt hear one missed note, the high notes were on point, sometimes seemed alittle quieter when he hit the high notes, but thats it. you guys are idiots
Whoa whoa. I totally disagree. The notes he can hit live are AMAZING! Of course it's going to be a little rough, this song is from Happiness... the album was overproduced.
the worlds a blister.... and i'm ok with it.

OLP needs to get their old guitarist back, steve is terrible and the direction of the music they are playing now is like nickleback its upsetting...
