Man...I watched this movie for the first time pretty baked. I was CONVINCED that there was no script and that they just got stoned as fuck and talked to each other. The acting was just way too good.
Nicholson is describing communism and the reactionary tendencies of traditional, antiquated capitalist systems. These guys were subversive and clever--ideal americans.
Who could ever expect that Henry Fonda's son Peter will be such a great guide into the marijuana first toke. Jack like always is an Oscar winner and above.
It's a tragedy that George Hanson has so little screen time, and illuminates the screen for every one of those precious minutes he features. Nicholson was truly immense in this. jack nicholson's performance was priceless in this movie. Dennis Hopper was against him being in it....he thought that he just wasn't right for the part. Later Hopper publicly stated how wrong he was about Nicholson and hiring him was the best money they ever spent
Interesting to see Graham Hancock's intelligent views on pot and ayuhasca - in a nutshell they should be legal... incidentally who decides to make God's plants 'illegal'? Surely these self righteous do-gooders are criminalizing their God?!? The grass in the sixties was nowhere near as strong as today's GM shit - all I remember about it was falling around laughing. Fact is you can get better highs with Dzogchen.
I love how long George holds it in his lungs while Billy is telling Captain America about the UFO's. Such classic times watching this film over the years, stoned with the band.
i dont supose it will do me any good cuz of the booze ya know. but it does have a good taste. wish i was around back then to try what they had wow musta been some good shit
the blonde tall guy from the hangover ,robert downey jr and ?? in a new version were the hicks get shot and they RIDE ON and get ritch ! make this one a serious movie ....thanks economey !
They really need to be called UFMO's for unidentified flying military object. If aliens actually landed here id bet we would charge them a landing fee or tax then when they dont produce any paper, we would get out our guns and blow them away like the typical society we are.
@mcdstuff That sucks, marijuana will do that if you dont hang with the right type of ppl. Always stay away form ppl that are into the hard stuff. Only chill with the ones that don't want to get into all the hard stuff and know how to use it the right way.
sounds pretty damn good to me. I mean no leaders, no wars, because each man is a leader. Now that would be pretty good for people in all walks of life, all walks of life.
@mcdstuff the most ignorant statement ive ever herd. You did heroin because you had a curiosity and was naive of what it could do to you. Alcohol is statistically the gateway drug, with withdraws rated with those of heroin and benzodiazepines....AND proven physical/psychological damage. It is FOOLISH to demean something with such natural medical values without all the side effects of all the crap doctors(the real drug dealers) prescribe to you.
Excellent point Gary. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why one party would want to redistribute the wealth of another party. It's completely mind boggling. I mean, what is theft if not this. I can understand that one person would want to help his fellow man, but that's what charitable donations are for.

Peter Fonda seems to think the main thing is not UFOs or equality or the meaning of life but to appreciate how wonderful marijuana is. The father we get from the 60s the more we see how pretentious and idiotic hippyism was. Indeed it has screwed up our culture permanently, or at least up through the present.
@garybsg: How so? At least people stood up for what they believed in. Now we're useless, lame, stoned, utterly worthless, and on top of that, we're total pussies. I'd say the 1960s totally beat the modern day (although I will say that the Internet sure is a wonderful luxury.)
@sockembopers12 Yes you did stand up for what you believe in: drugs, the welfare state, unlimited immigration, massive unions, multi-culturalism, anti-Americanism and massive big government. The country is declining and it can be traced to scum like these. I lived that era in NYC with hippies all around. There were pure puke.
@garybsg Good to know any decline can't be traced back to big business wanting to kill off any small business, big banks having to be bailed out by the tax payer and then not forgiving any loans the taxpayer has with them as that "will damage the banks". It can't be traced back to non existant "Weapons of Mass destruction" or a war in Afganistan after 9/11 when Afganistan wasn't even involved in 9/11. Open your eyes.
@longhairedlayabout so much sloppy logic I don't know where to begin. 1. Big business competes with small business which is good for all of us. Many of those "Big Business" were small business to begin with and the only time "Big Business" is a danger is when it collaborates with "BIG GOVERNMENT". 2. Big banks being bailed is totally supported by all democrats and renegade republicans which helped create the Tea Party. I agree on WMD, we should hang Colin Powell from a tree.
@garybsg: Thank you for well-articulated response. I can tell you put some effort into it, in spite of the fact that I'm a complete stranger. That being said, I'm still trying to decide if you were being positive, or negative. I like what my generation has done with drug legislation, but everything else you mentioned? Sounds like shit. Then you go on to say that the decline of America is the fault of past hippies. I'm not trying to knock you or anything, I'm just a little confused.
@sockembopers12 Ok here is one example. Our founding fathers believed that a man's property(not just house but income, stocks, etc) was fully his. The leftist of the 60s furiously attacked this idea and instead push the concept of compassion for our fellow man(translation=the government has the right to take citizen A's income for the benefit of citizen B). This concept led to Medicare, Medical, massive expansion of Social Security, welfare etc. Now 50 years later we are 15-40 trillion in debt.
@sockembopers12 of course..technology wise life will only get better..but i think as the years pass..human morality and stuff like what you said is true only gets worse and worse
@sockembopers12 Our founding fathers fought for freedom under the threat of being hanged creating the greatest country on earth. Lincoln lost 300,000 men freeing black slaves expanding freedom. The US lost 400,000 soldiers fighting and freeing the world from Nazism. The 1960s hippies got stoned and took over a school admin office. Pick which one is utterly fucking lame and will be forgotten soon.
@garybsg Correction, In the 1960's the hippies (after using mind altering substances) Thought about the bullshit fucking war in vietnam and said "Nah, im good, fuck war" :)
@MoralisticAthiest Correction, the 1960s hippies fought for nothing and would never pick up a gun to defend anything including freedom. Cowards and worthless scum.
@garybsg lol they didnt fight for freedom? What do you call refusing to stop using mind altering substances then? I'd call that fighting the system "Buddy"
@MoralisticAthiest The point your missing is I imply that hippies are cowards. We both agree they wouldn't fight in Vietnam --- and I add nor in any war righteous or not because they are scum. If the day comes when you need your freedom protected, just call your local hippie. Good luck with that :)
@garybsg I've realized your point, however unfounded it may be. I don't depend on anyone to protect my freedom, I do it myself. Excersize your freedom and you'll never forget the freedom you have :)
@garybsg You're talking silly talk that's all. The would would be fine and dandy without Americans and other imperialistic states messing up the place. No one is going to attack you, you're the aggressor here man.
@Raz0rbabe you confuse helping to free a nation like Vietnam from communism or Iraq from a dictatorship as imperialism. The US is the least imperial country on earth for it's size and power. BTW no one is going to attack us please explain: War of 1812 attacked by the British, 1940 Pearl Harbor attacked by the Japanese, 9/11 attacked by Al quida. I suggest a history class
@garybsg cowards huh?people are jealous that folks with our mind set stick to different values..we dont live by the systematically controlled FUCK that you folks call normal, we dont believe in the accumulation of worthless material goods, but that of good karma..and the impact we have on this earth as the humans that god made us to be. Why run around with a gun shooting people whilst not believing in the purpose.Fighting for freedom?pshh sure has been working throughout history right?? HAH
@lui4789 Our guns have gotten our freedom and very happy about that. Material accumulation, you mean you don't own a computer, don't subscribe to the internet, don't drive a car? Pure hypocrite. Call me when you live naked in the forest then I will respect your opinion till then you're full of shit. I agree they don't believe in the purpose which is freedom. Spend some time in Libya, North Korea or the Soviet Union(I did) and then tell how worthless freedom is. Pure fool. BTW I own 9 guns :)
I love people, who love this little part of the movie. There is a "so called" revolution in North Africa. And in Europe too, Europeans must be the part of the big picture of the NOrth African revolution and legalizing stuff must become a political movement. Enlightment, enlightment...NOW. If there is democracy and freedom, they must show how tolerant they are, i mean the governments of all kind. because all of them are similar. They are all rulling classes sucking blood.
right there is the reason why the presence of extra-terrestrial intelligent beings on and around this planet is being kept secret from the highest levels of power down. Seriously friends, do some good research into this shit, remain skeptical but open to new concepts. There is more than enough credible evidence to suggest that there is something is being kept secret. The Disclosure Project is a famous and good place to start. Beyond that follow this example and watch the sky
reminds me of my high school days (1977) with my friends out on the infamous "Hill" behind the school grounds. Its a wonder I am who I am today and survived it all.
@saucysuzysix: Wow, that's hilarious. You think you're something special because you "survived" smoking weed in the 70s? Big fucking whoop. You've deserve the Medal of Honor.
@brian8793 it can be depends on how you look at the situation its alot easier for the young heads nowadays to get weed heroin coke and all sorts of prescription drugs bought in the black market than it is to get cigarettes and alcohol
im trying to quit cigarettes as of this week where i live they went up to 8 bucks a pack but im gonna quit that shit and keep smoking mary as far as i'm concerned
@brian8793 thank you man i appreciate your support on quitting smoking it isn't easy either but i rather live till im 75 instead of 50 im 29 now goin on 30 in 3 months i feel so much better when i dont smoke cigarettes
@brian8793 thank you man i appreciate your support on quitting smoking it isn't easy either but i rather live till im 75 instead of 50 im 29 now goin on 30 in 3 months i feel so much better when i dont smoke cigarettes it takes alot of strong will to quit mentality wise Peace:)
@brian8793 oh hell no i don't feel old one bit man i enjoyed my late 20's more than i did when i was 21 i wasn't cracked up about being that age cause im not a drinker im a stoner certified 100%
@jacobladders I'm an ex-weed smoker, and incidentally a Mormon now.haha
Anyways, I don't understand why Mary Jane is illegal. It's wrong, is what it is. Nobody should EVER go to jail for smoking a plant. What's with all of these people who claim to believe in God and then want to make it illegal? Are they saying God messed up?lol.
@brian8793 i agree on you with that completely its terrible we've been at war with weed for 74 years with the start of harry j. anslinger that ignorant cocksucker i never knew any mormons personally are you from the west coast cause im from the garden state and the mormon sectors are not very known over here where im from im not religious what so ever and i don't plan on it but your entitled to your own opinion and thought just as i am
@jacobladders Yeah, I'm the same way. I have a lot of friends who are of a different faith, and many who are athiests. I was an athiest most of my life until I discovered the truth about The Church. What I love about this country is our freedom of religion, and our freedom to express our opinions.
Maybe that is why the marijuana laws seem so ridiculous, on SO many levels.
@brian8793 oh absolutely man i hear ya on that i love this country still to this day because the freedom to say what you want however you want whenever you want especially to the fact that we don't get thrown in jail for expressin our beliefs although weed is illegal i still have the right to smoke as much as i want just as much a person wants to drink as much as he/she wants to fuck living in europe all those nations meanwhile be little one another because of the nationality bullshit
This perfectly captures stoner conversations!!! It also perfectly captures the different kind of stoners; the cool stoner, the tweaky stoner, the smart stoner (though it was his first time)... great fucking movie!!!
The way he says it and just stares at him makes me laugh haha. "You won't get hooked". ~_~ ... and the hippy hahaha what. what was that man, what the hell was that!? hahahaha unreal!
Belive it or not Free energy is real,But the Oil coporations life depends on covering this up,Check this free energy magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Big change is comming soon!
William Shatner said he saw a UFO which led him to safety after being lost in the desert. Later he couldn't stand the teasing so denied everything. Even Presidents Reagan and Carter admitted seeing UFOs. I think John Lear got blamed for a lot of bad sci-fi posted in the internet.

Raz0rbabe 9 months ago
@Raz0rbabe you confuse helping to free a nation like Vietnam from communism or Iraq from a dictatorship as imperialism. The US is the least imperial country on earth for it's size and power. BTW no one is going to attack us please explain: War of 1812 attacked by the British, 1940 Pearl Harbor attacked by the Japanese, 9/11 attacked by Al quida. I suggest a history class
garybsg 9 months ago
@garybsg cowards huh?people are jealous that folks with our mind set stick to different values..we dont live by the systematically controlled FUCK that you folks call normal, we dont believe in the accumulation of worthless material goods, but that of good karma..and the impact we have on this earth as the humans that god made us to be. Why run around with a gun shooting people whilst not believing in the purpose.Fighting for freedom?pshh sure has been working throughout history right?? HAH
lui4789 9 months ago

Its a wonder I am who I am today and survived it all.
saucysuzysix 11 months ago
@saucysuzysix: Wow, that's hilarious. You think you're something special because you "survived" smoking weed in the 70s? Big fucking whoop. You've deserve the Medal of Honor.

Alcohol is the only true gateway drug.
brian8793 11 months ago
@brian8793 that and cigarettes
jacobladders 11 months ago
@jacobladders Maybe. I just think that the majority of the time, when a person is about to try a hard drug, they have been drinking.
brian8793 11 months ago
@brian8793 it can be depends on how you look at the situation its alot easier for the young heads nowadays to get weed heroin coke and all sorts of prescription drugs bought in the black market than it is to get cigarettes and alcohol
im trying to quit cigarettes as of this week where i live they went up to 8 bucks a pack but im gonna quit that shit and keep smoking mary as far as i'm concerned
jacobladders 11 months ago
@jacobladders Good luck quitting man. You got a long life still, so make it better and QUIT!
Peace : )

@jacobladders I'll be 30 on March 30th. Crazy age! Not quite young, not quite old....lol
brian8793 11 months ago
@brian8793 oh hell no i don't feel old one bit man i enjoyed my late 20's more than i did when i was 21 i wasn't cracked up about being that age cause im not a drinker im a stoner certified 100%
jacobladders 11 months ago
@jacobladders I'm an ex-weed smoker, and incidentally a Mormon now.haha
Anyways, I don't understand why Mary Jane is illegal. It's wrong, is what it is. Nobody should EVER go to jail for smoking a plant. What's with all of these people who claim to believe in God and then want to make it illegal? Are they saying God messed up?lol.
brian8793 11 months ago
@brian8793 i agree on you with that completely its terrible we've been at war with weed for 74 years with the start of harry j. anslinger that ignorant cocksucker i never knew any mormons personally are you from the west coast cause im from the garden state and the mormon sectors are not very known over here where im from im not religious what so ever and i don't plan on it but your entitled to your own opinion and thought just as i am
jacobladders 11 months ago
@jacobladders Yeah, I'm the same way. I have a lot of friends who are of a different faith, and many who are athiests. I was an athiest most of my life until I discovered the truth about The Church. What I love about this country is our freedom of religion, and our freedom to express our opinions.
Maybe that is why the marijuana laws seem so ridiculous, on SO many levels.
Peace dude : )
brian8793 11 months ago
@brian8793 oh absolutely man i hear ya on that i love this country still to this day because the freedom to say what you want however you want whenever you want especially to the fact that we don't get thrown in jail for expressin our beliefs although weed is illegal i still have the right to smoke as much as i want just as much a person wants to drink as much as he/she wants to fuck living in europe all those nations meanwhile be little one another because of the nationality bullshit
