Nice job! seen plenty of bullies in the logan getting clear of the surface. Some 1.5 metre + models at that! They're there and just as easy to catch on the cheap gear!
This video put a smile on my face. Thank you sir. Its just epic. The lone fisherman. There'd be no stories of the one that got away today! Its so funny he sets the pole down and breaks out the video camera. I thought it was priceless how he looks back at the camera all proud of himself. The only thing that could of possible made this better is if he had cracked open a beer or maybe had a sandwich.
I know the spot your on about!! its at the end of the little street, you can see the albert/Logan junction from there!! Yeah it is a nice spot to fish!!
My preferred bait is eel! jut a big slab about 4-6 inchs' long and a big hook through about a third of the way along! I like eel because of its toughness! mullet is tough but it has nothing on eel!
Next is mullet then herring!! even bream + whiting fillets can catch them!! just use a big slab is all thats required!!
@1105MACA ... dont worry mate they really dont come after you! truth is they are shit scared of us! as soon as they hear a boat comming they scamper away!
Worst case is if you are skiing and fall off, then the boat breaks down while returning to get you, then you may have to sit there for a half hour and this is when they may bite as they tend to just bite something thats right in front of them!
A funny shark the bullies, they bite first and think later!
you missed the first eye on your rod when rigging up that would have made the fight that little bit harder bloody good effort though nice one mate, put some more logan river fishin vids up
good ctach mate ver trying fishing out at mud island?
its not bad got a nice few squires the other night and some big stingrays they are a fun fight but good for nothing asnd we got one nice snapper aswell.
Where abouts in Logan river was this?? There is a heap of vermin and shit in the Logan river. But well done. Think you need a decky to hold the cam for you.
@BOBtheOTAKU ...G-day Bob!!! mate that shark was caught just out in front of the rock wall on rotary park road! turn left after the gem hotel on your way out to cabbage tree point!
I fish his area in the boat now but before I had a boat I used to fish it land based off the rock wall, just use about a half meter of steel trace, a big hook and and a big slab of fish for bait, mullet, herring or eel is better! make the slab about 4-5 inchs long and put the hook through the middle!
@bull864 The logan river is located in logan city, half way between brisbane and the gold coast! primarily a mud river it clears up to sand further down towards the mouth, it has a big estuary system thats almost 1km wide in parts!
theres lots of other species in there further down like flathead ,bream, whiting, mulloway, mullet, Tarpon, sharks and cod! there is a good run of prawns too in late summer into winter and lets not forget the good old mud crabs,
@sharkeater2 thanks for info. it has always been a dream of mine to visit australia. consider yourself lucky to be able to fish such a beautiful place.
what a great catch you got there mate.. i live in beaudesert but go to the logan river abit and nerang. wouldnt mind catching me a beauty like that mate just for the fun of catching them haha. good on ya mate, you did great.
what is the best way set the hook with sharks? i went the other day to the brisbane river and used pike eel as bait and it was been taken and the drag was peeling off, but when i tryed to set the hook the shark kept on letting go, mabe i should use smaller baits or bigger hooks or just wait longer to make sure its got it down?
nice shark m8 hooked a bull shark the other day on half a mullet down at meadowbrook and there was a chance your rod could have snapped at 3 mins it was really bent over but good video
yeah blokes rekon that the rod could have snapped but they only snap if you apply pressure while they are bent like that, you got to let the fish/shark have his way sometime's, I had every intention of play the shark due to having 15Lb mono, could of lost him very easily if I didnt know how to catch them, stoked you got 1 at medowbrook, I live in bethania which is only around the bend from the medowbrook jetty's, Might go chase one tonight now I seen you got one this far up!
Thanks 4 the reply doc mate! theres plenty of sharks in our rivers here, so many that it is very unwise to go swimming in the river! they really are quite easy to catch, Im sure if you try in the hottest part of summer in england you will catch a shark of some sort mate! just use a real big slice of fish as bait (5 inchs long) and a big hook and just leave it out where ever you fish on the coast! what are your main fish targets in the UK!
hehe who knows....i grew up fishing but last 6 years i been in uk and i havent fished here....in gibraltar where im from its pretty nice fishing spot...lots of fish but i never gone shark fishing there....hhmmm im inspired..i rekon next time im back ill pay to get aken out on a propa hunt :) normally i go after octopus, cuttlefish, squid, different breams, giltheds, bass, mackrel, etc
Man I was in a real hurry to rig this rod up and in my haste I hadnt passed it through the bottom runner, Doh!! just go's to show how tough this rod is, it cost $17.95 from K-Mart and the reel was a $30 job from big W, caught on 15lb Jarvis walker mono with a steel trace and a half pilly, I prefer eel but had none! the bullies will be just about up the logan now the water has warmed up, might go chase some tomorrow morn for a couple of hours!
thanks mate, yer iv caught 5 now, because i live on the river so i can go down all the time, i havent tryd pillies yet its just eel i reckon is the go or live bream my dad caught a 5 foot bully in the brisbane river off a live bream so all good im gonna keep getting the sharks, my biggest is 3 and a half foot, whats the biggest you have caught?
great fun the lil bullies! what line class were you using? i have just moved to logan shire , and wanted to chase bullies in the logan river! now i am keen to give it a go , i catch them in the brissy river but the logan is alot closer to home now..
G-day wes mate! I was only using 15lb cheap as chips JW mono but had a steel trace about 1 meter up from the sinker, I do this to keep the bait off the bottom due to ray's and catties's
I was on the logan chasing flatties down towards the mouth this morning and the water is very clean, I could see huge stingrays cruising under the boat which means the sharks wont be far away at all, in fact they may have already come into the river with this warm weather!
nice catch mate, great little video. Any tips? im on the coomera river, would love to land a fish like that

@hippo32098326 ...Yeah mate I crab a bit further down at ageston sands in the logan and have scored some nice muddies there this year!
Shame about the pots mate! Ive lost 9 so far this year and probably will lose more!
I found that the trawlers can pick em up in there nets and drag em off and then they usually dump some place else in deeper water!
