  • fuck. ken casey has the perfect voice for this stuff.

  • WHICH ARE "YOU" ON !?! Stand up for the working class there is no more middle class ....Tax the rich NOW! or we will justl hang them come the uprising of the worker

  • I'm glad to see the Dropkicks keeping these old songs alive. I KNOW which side I'm on. I'm on the side of the working man. SMWIA Local 105.

  • Bust more unions, cut more pay, create unemployment, provide jobs at a trickle to desperate people and pay them shit... shit it almost sounds orchestrated.

The US is like a retarded kid who hands over his lunch money to someone who promises to buy them lunch, and who never does. Fuck the rich, throw 'em in Guantanamo.

  • If the politicians can break the backs of the Teachers,Poice,+Firefighters Unions, the rest of ALL unions will be fair game and will fall! They say they want to save the taxpayers money, but it's a dodge to undermine workers rights and further destroy the middle-class workers rights to negotiate a fair wage+benefits package.Don't buy the LIE! Dogman UNITE 31T

  • Solidarity Forever

  • Neither the Left (Unions, etc.) or the Right (Corporations, etc.) are in support of our Freedom and Liberty. Hidden agendas...

I doubt that its the intention of the lyrics (this is a Union song remake from the 30's I think) but I see the sides as Liberty vs. Tyranny. Turning both Left or Right on the road to freedom will only lead to Tyranny.

Sorry about you Wisconsinites. But both sides have it wrong

I stand on the side of Liberty. Smash the rest.

  • @13euskaldun - But even if this is true, wouldn't you want to fight against the side that is the strongest? If both are foes to liberty then you must. But go after the corporations first because their power is enthroned in U.S. law.

  • @kreuztraeger I was a teamster for 6 years. The men and women in Unions are for the most part good people. But the unions themselves are a disease. They don't give a hoot about 'Workers'. They only care about their particular union and that union's seniority structure.

I am for workers (all workers no matter the color of the collar). I am not for unions.

  • Attacking all unions because your was populated with lazy chumps who passively let themselves get fucked is a big leap.

The unions of old preached total solidarity. This is not necessary as long as strikes are simultaneous. Deprived of money, government, business, and even your shitty union leadership either cease to exist or capitulate to your demands.

If you weren't willing to clean up your own house so to speak, then don't fucking have one.

  • They can hear this in Wisonsin!

  • Let us all stand with our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin. We can not let let the fascists win.

  • SOLS EL POBLE SALVA EL POBLE

  • love the intro, makes me wanna be an irish inmigrant

  • This song would be epic if at the end everyone shouted "DEATH TO WALMART!"

  • TNG/CWA local 37074

my father was a union man and so am i.

this song is every bit as true today as when it was written. which side are you on?

    THE SIDE OF MY BROTHERS.

  • Check out the cover from KollektivA (Greece) ! ! !

  • Best song w/ lyrics I hate..

  • This song was written by Florence Reece in 1931. She was the wife of a union organizer in Harlen County, Kentucky. This song is one of the reasons I'm a big DKM fan. I"m an IBEW member in Kentucky. If you like this song you also need to check out the Street Dogs for more union music.

  • It's 'Harlan', not Marlan, but love the song nonetheless.

An injury to one is an injury to all.

  • bragg writes great songs but i recall this is an old time folk song, maybe from pete seeger or someone earlier piece yawl

  • @grainpsilo Who the hell do you think did the sweating, and working for those companies? The fat executives? I don't think so. Labor and its fruits belong to those who labor.

  • @grainpsilo Heaven forbid people actually have to be PAID for their work! Heaven forbid, those people who sweated, toiled, and laboured for 50+ years of their lives get paid a paltry sum every month so they can continue to eat. I can tell what side YOUR on. Go play in traffic.

  • @grainpsilo and it's the greedy corporations who take away workers benefits and force them to work longer hours for less money. For many people in this country the American Dream is dead and buried because of corporate greed and government complacency. But anyways the company has to make sure the execs get bonuses right? After all we wouldn't want them to miss their ski trip to Aspen or be unable to buy their new Lexus this year.

  • @grainpsilo It's the working poor that now have to pay for the bank bail outs of Freedie Mac, Fannie Mae, Bear Stearnes ...Plus Chrysler filing Chapter 11 and recieving 6.6 BILLION!..that socialism for the Rich. privatise the gains and Socialize the Debts. handing over same onto the backs of blue collar workers .How many pension funds were either under funded for years or raided by the Trustees on behalf of the Companies as a means of creative accounting leaving Workers without pensions.

  • and Order, RED AND BLACK!!!! NEVER SURRENDER good old mate, never give in.... IWW/CNT/AIT!!!!!

  • Fuck all corrupt theiving corporations!

  • The Dropkicks sell the concept of the working class, Irish hooligan and they are good at it. Irish Americans are no longer Jimmy Cagney in White Heat. The Dropkicks sing of a bygone era.

    Jimmy the Spud

  • Those regimes you're calling socialism/Communism were nearly all state capitalist. Marx said if you want an example of communism, see the Paris Commune. That was somewhat different to the USSR! Spain 1936 is another good example of communism. Not many millions enslaved and killed in those circumstances - apart from the workers who died defending it from the filth like General Franco, that is.

  • Death to fascists!

  • From Donnegal--The North who Fights for the South---I KNOW which side I'm on!

  • be glad u can argue over a union wal mart workers get fired if they even whisper talks of a union

  • it says Harlan county btw not marlan the song was written by a little old lady named florence reece in Harlan county in the 1930s during the union wars

  • @nikosavgkke - if stupidity would hurt, you cried all day long ... !

  • / signed -.-

  • Dude the two poitical classes in which u speak of are against u speaking out and being PUNK!!! So which side u really on?

  • First of all I have never seen so many grammatical errors in one sentence. If your intention is to enlighten someone you should first appear to be literate. It is obvious you are a very uneducated person. Here are some questions

Do you know the definition of a communist?

Do you know the origins of the punk movement?

Do you realize Nikosavgkke comes from a country that was recently under a U.S. backed military dictatorship?

Do you think you would be able to find this country on a map?

  • Which side are you on? Power to workers and students NOW!!! Dropkick Fuckin' Murphys really rock...Rock + Metal + Punk united for revolution

  • Amusing - but wonder where Shane Macgowan is in this ...guess he must have stepped out for a pint or two.

  • Shane is the greatest lead singer -- for a different band. The Pogues. Check them out.

  • IWW. Solidarity Forever Fellow Workers!

  • 562 Carpenters. Solidarity!

  • Let me guess, Non Union engineer? ;)

  • sounds like you should join a union. we are stronger united!

  • You should be pissed you don't have a union, instead of being mad at union's. Union power has been eroded steadily over the last decade especially. We aren't only talking wages, but benefits and workplace safety standards along with many other things. Get organized and get what you are worth!

  • I appreciate them bringing this song to a more mainstream audience, but I must say, I don't care much for their version at all. Anyway, to each their own. Have a nice day, everyone.

  • Solidarity Forever!

  • How did they fuck this up? They are passing the song down to a whole new generation.

  • Awesome!!!
