Great driving! Is there some special reason why he has to go down through all the gears instead shifting the proper exiting gear (before the corner ofcourse).
I guess I've never paid much attention to the driver's legs before in touring cars... is he pumping the brakes during downshifting? Or just letting up on the brake pedal between downshifts?
@kemorc its called heel-toing. basically his left foot is hitting the clutch at the same time his right toes are hitting the breaks while his right heel is blipping the gas. it matches the revs of the engines and the lower gears when downshifting so ur rear wheels dont block
Just to add. Marco Werner broke a rib in the Audi R15 where the seat is a part of the car and can't move at all. He didn't have a proper inlay which is custom made to each driver, so a part of the seat pinched at his rib and broke it.
No problem with the seat. It's only fixed to the car at the bottom and the driver is strapped in tight with 6 belts, so the seat takes all the movement that your body does normally. It's just that you can't move at all in the seat, so it goes with you.
But true, never seen it that extreme, much less movement in V8 Supercars Australia for example.
On the other hand these GT cars have huge front grip, so high cornering speeds and g-force
Guys like Alain Prost and Danny Sullivan had a different and equally effective aproach. Heavy heel toe rev and right into the gear you wanted. Guys like Senna and most others would go through the gears like this reducing the chance of error. Bottom line... that is some BADASS driving. Cudos.
Sullivan and Prost's technique is a little more conservative. Leh uses the engine brake a little more, Garth Tander uses this style in V8 Supercars as well whilst all the others go directly into the required gear with one heavy heel&toe.
With Leh's style you can use the engine brake even more by overrevving the engine like Senna did in qualifying and like it's done Porsche Carrera Cup at the Norisring for example.
Leh Keen is lapping this car around Sebring. He was bumped from the space shuttle program and clearly has some pent-up frustration about it.... Seriously - the Gods only placed so many men on Earth who can take a Porsche places no one else ever will. GO LEH!!
Hes an awesome driver but he might wanna be careful coming in that wide in the last corner there. There is a pretty bad bump when you get up out of the grove that high. You can see him hit it and it tries to jump at the wall.
Great driving, very fast lap. It might just be the track, but this car looks like it has some pretty bad handling problems...turn in oversteer isn't exactly a good thing.
1997 Sebring Hans Stuck in Porsche 911 turned a 2:02.???.....I beleive this was the 911,s last overall win at this track.....but this is just my memory recall of that event...thanks
