  • impressive !

  • 9869, not 9989, as NS 9978 has Always been the very last NS D9-40CW on the roster

  • Nice !

  • Yeah CAT power!

  • I have been around horseshoe on a passenger train in the mid 70's, Really cool, we could see the entire train at the apex of the bend.

  • 0:44 What sort of paint scheme is THAT? One of those SD70's delivered in primer?

By the way, the best spot to film at the Horseshoe is the bench in front of the nose of the GP9. Set a tripod to maximum height on that bench and do a pan shot. It worked great for me. Just my 2 cents.

  • nice catch ! I loved seeing those 4 BIG kitty cats going by ! also towards the end with 2 trains meeting up. 5 stars

  • Looks like the 2000kW Standby Generator- Yeah my wish list is defiantly out of control.

  • Can you tell me where you saw this at? I live in Western MD and I am looking for some big loop where the kids can see the trains come down a mountain?

    Thank you.

  • @ff2832 This locatino is called Hoseshoe Curve, which is located near Altoona, PA. It is a well known railroad landmark and its also considered to be one of the greatest American railroad engineering marvels. More information on it can be found googling it.

  • @ff2832 If your up for long distance traveling to see an actual loop where trains can be see crossing over themselves, come on out to California and see the world-famous Tehachapi Loop, where trains gain an elevation of 77 feet in one tight circle that loops over itself. The loop is located between Bakersfield and Mojave on the boarder of central and southern CA.

  • lucky, you guys got a beautiful day on the curve!!

  • Nice video. By the way, what's the things covered with the green blanket?

  • those were Caterpiller diesel engines. Probably for very large tractors or trucks used in a quarry

  • Awesome video Alex! That primer/CRQ consist was sweet! 5*

  • I so wanna visit and spend a day @ Horseshoe Curve :) WITHA BEER COOLER!!! :-D But I guess its forbidden. :(

  • @Landaux have a cooler filled with "haogies" but really beers wrapped in paper to look like hoagies :)

and i second you on the whole day there :)

  • I dont know when is the question, maybe when i retire, heheh. Id love to go there and Rochelle ill. as well.

  • The red/blue tractors are made in Racine,Wis.Caterpillar engines are made in Lafayette,Indiana

  • The green-tarped Cats are stationary generators that will likely be used as emergency backups. Why was the lead locomotive (GE) unpainted?

  • Well Alex I Never Knew You Came Out Here Before! But It Is a Great Place to Be! Nice Catch with that "naked" Ns unit Leading that Train With Sweet K5LA!!! that First Blast Scare Ya? Well They blow the horn like crazy up there

  • Thanks, ya. That first blast caught me off gaurd.

  • un-painted NS

  • Yes sir.

  • Nice catch with those CAT engines. I'd swear I have a clip from 1994 at The Curve showing the exact same kind of tractor as on that first flatcar...

  • Thanks, this was in 05 I think.

  • obviously the horseshoe curve 'park'.. but what year?

  • Ya, last year I think.

  • I am very surprised the CAT engines weren't at the front of the train so they can be watched.

  • Ya, kinda suprised me to.
