Ally McBeal. You know, until right now I had completely forgotten about that show. Whoo, I might have been pretty young when that show came out, but, damn, does it take me back!
When I went to the area where you used the save crystal, I went to the other path with the MegaAll and Cloud said, where are (characters that went the other way left)? And wouldn't allow me to go into that cave.
I used to watch Ally McBeal every Monday night... I had a habit of watching terrible TV when I was growing up. Don't do that to your children! Luckily around the same time I had games like this and CT, and silver age sci-fi novels to give me some culture.
a good use for mega all : get 4x cut. Equip mega all on that character and put mime/counter attack mime on all other characters = 4x cut on all each chars turn + on one character as a counter attack
The shield materia as far as I know has to reach an amount of AP before it can be used. When used, you are simply immune to Physical attacks for a period of time within the battle I think.
I was right at the part before the place you put the save point and my damn game decides to freeze. This just reinforced my hatred of the switch from more reliable solid-state game systems to less reliable disc based systems. (That and I just want to finish the game already!)
lol those Allemagne enemies are annoying. Don't they cast Roulette or something? They should have been named Ahriman, sounded cool in FFXII. Yeah I agree about the King Behemoth HC. At least in FFX's final area, when you defeat them they cast Meteor on your party which can wipe your party out. I should know xD. As a matter of fact, I don't think the damage can be reduced with Shell, through I could be wrong, but really using an Aeon is your most defense against their final Meteor attack. xD
Heh, Ally McBeal. Haven't heard that show mentioned in a long time, outside the "Deader than Disco" entry on TVTropes. And you're right, this area really could've used some puzzles or mini-bosses. Guess they used all those up on Kefka's tower in FF6.
some1 pls help me..i have miss-clicked when it asked me where i want to go and now am stuck with the rest of the group..what can i do?:S also is this the group am supposed to fight sephiroth with?
Mega-All and Steel/Mug or what ever you want to call it slash all enimies and steel from them all at the same time while dealing deacent amount of damage.
double cut and mega all doesn't work. It over rides the command, making it a regular slash-all. But....use any weapon with 255 hit% and Deathblow, and you're good. Too bad you get it so late in the game.
HAHAHAHA Ally Mcbeal...BTW when it coes out on October, make sure you watch STAR WARS THE CLONE WARS. Its the best thing CN have now, and w/ out it there is no doubt go bankrupt, becuase its crap now
Worst television I have ever seen: Anything that is currently on Nickelodeon, anything currently on Cartoon Network, or anything done by 4Kids. My personal best for any of that is immediately turning it off without screaming.
Equip Vincent with the Long Barrel Rifle, and link Deathblow to Mega-All. This will make it very easy to rack up kills for his Death Penalty weapon, and is more effective than using Matra Magic in the Mythril Mines.
damn it HC i mean its not your fault but you could have at least said that your party members go with you because i have my crappy people red xlll and cid there like 10 lvls behind im so screwd is there another way i can get vincent and barret back on my team ??? PLEASE HELP ANY1 !!!!!!!!!
Ally McSkeleton.. I like to imagine that the sinew holding her skeletal thin arms makes warbling noises as she moves. I can't even imagine how harrison ford bones this chick, it would be like having sex with a 12 year old boy that vaguely looks like a girl.
I agree, this final dungeon is way too short and straightforward for such an epic game. Oh well, I guess they had to let something slip somewhere...
As for FF5, I'm very close to the end now. My biggest complaint is that leveling up is painstakingly slow in the last sections and your HPs don't get very big very quickly.
Never really had a problem with Ally McBeal, though I never really watched it much. Also, I think the reason Final Fantasy Vii is so easy is because of ALL the material that they give you. It's crazy how much there IS!
Ahrimans/Allemagnes occasionally use L3 Flare and believe me, I mean occasionally. It's been used on me twice over the course of eleven years, and one of those times was via manipulate.
But it severely skullfucks anyone with their HP divisible by 3. It did enough damage to kill them.
Small enough to accomodate an insane amount of FMV for the ending.
Actually, the entire game (ignoring FMV) is on all three discs. If you use cheats to alter a save file and change what disc the game thinks it's on, you can have the date on disc 3 and so forth. I'm not sure what happens if you trigger an FMV that's not on that disc though.
One more thing with Mega All. Pair it with your master command and use it in conjuction with Morph and Mug. It also works with Manipulate and it will work through the monsters and you will take over the a monster. It cycles through like Magic Pot A, then Magic Pot B, etc.
MegaAll looks useful Deathblow is a good idea except only Vincent can use it well. 5/5 HCBaily i like the reference to the Final Fantasy Legend you made.
Yeees, you did it! Deinterlacing worked. The quality is better than before when the characters move. ANd the compression time is shorter of course. So that's even better.
Once you level up the shield materia once it inflicts peerless on your party for a short time (broken) also about the comment I made on your last video I personally wouldn't consider it abusing a glitch as the effort just to get the master materia highly exceeds the benefit.
I play the PSX version, so I don't know if there's any difference, but whenever I equip the Mega-all and 4x-cut on a single party member, the resultant Slash-All cancels out the 4x-cut.
Since you need an all materia to make a single spell be castable on all targets one will be using lots of alls combined with other materias to be hitting multiple targets in this game. With the megaall materia that pretty much saves half of your materia slots.
The bosses coming up have a lot of limbs to blast off so it's good to use for practicality's sake but I'd prefer just 4x cutting, miming, ultimas yada yada yada...but that's just me.
If you had tetra elementals equipped, then a MegaAll+Strong Elemental Magic would be the best thing for it. But still, it's not really worth the effort, huh?
I never found the MEGA all useful here, since mostly you only get 1 or 2 enemies at most.....so it is kinda useless.....but it is nice to link it to a CURE (I am not sure if you can link it to enemy skill, boy, using BIG GUARD with one command, wicked)......but that is the only use I can see with the mega all at this point....boy it would have been great with early part of the game, when you have 3-6 enemies.....time saver indeed.
sorry for the double posts... but there's no king behemoths in FFIV. the ones that you fight in the lunar subterrian and bahamuts cave are just normal... but they're pretty damn hard... and i normally put mega all on my 2n contain, but since you've got added effect and only one contain, there's really no great use for it.
If you don't use an Elixir on a Magic Pot and you attack it, it will shout something bad and steal an item. The words are Japanese I think. The Gremlins at Whirlwind Maze did something similar except it just damages. The move is called Bad Mouth. It's usually a counter attack.
I put the save crystal in that location in my first playthrough of FF7 and regretted it, because you can't go back up through that area with the high AP enemies (Movers and Magic Pots). In later playthroughs, I always put the save crystal in that room with the glowing light, so that you have access to the high AP monsters and you can just jump down to the final area if you want to as well.
I know it doesn't matter for your LP because it's almost over anyways, though.
You could always go all the way back and back to the rendezvous point. Good luck getting the enemy skill which only gets cast once per game by enemies HC.
Yeah. That is just a lot more inconvenient, though. Better to put it in the glowing light room so you have more flexibility about which way you want to go.
Yeah, you're right. On my first playthrough I thought that i wouldn't use it until some warning came that a boss was coming. So i went down the steps next to where HC is. Bad mistake, as you can't use it there. Got my first game over from that.
Most people didn't seem to notice it, but if you really focused, you could see some horizontal lines on an object that was moving too fast. I thought it was some kind of scan lines.
who ever you have equiped with Slash all... you can use mega all with as it will just pretty much put ALL effects on the magic and your basic attacks. Its decent but sometimes causes more problems.
Ally McBeal to me is just a relic of the madness of the late 90s; I hate gimmicks in any media and that show was just one gimmick after the other.
I wasn't a big fan of this dungeon either, especially when compared to the final areas of FF4, 5, and 6. Maybe they thought about giving you the ability to switch parties in this area as in FF6, but since you can only have Cloud, Tifa, or Cid lead a party, you couldn't have exactly the parties you wanted.
When you go into that organic area and arrive in the final part with the Counter materia in the glowing light, is anyone else reminded of the materia fountain in Mt. Nibel that Sephiroth holds a lecture at in the flashack? It would seem fitting to come back to one of those in Sephiroth's final dungeon.
Yeah...movers give I think 2300ap...stick that to a nice Triple AP weapon, and that's a giant 6900ap.
And the magic pots shout Gimme Elixer...they don't really die if you don't give them one, and can sometimes 1shot you after attacking without giving you one...
I don't think Movers are THAT rare. I'm surprised HCBailly didn't show them off. Rarer than Magic Pots, certainly, but I ran into them relatively often. I'm pretty sure it's not 1/64. I'd estimate it's 1/10 or so. They are the best for AP grinding, but they don't give experience, as I recall... so Magic Pots are still pretty good, since they give both.
Movers are quite rare, but i ran into them quite a few times when grinding down there. I personally preferred the magic pots that game, but then, in that playthrough i was abusing the w-item glitch. Movers are more useful in a game without the w-item glitch imo. And they're quite good for gil if i recall too, but you don't really need it anymore when you get to this stage of the game.
Another good use for it is that it replaces your all materias on that character. However for you that may not be so good since you dont seem to use them that often.
Nope...Mega all is useful for like...your green master materia...since mega all is independant and such...I usually get as many master magics as I can, and then just farm movers for leveling the Mega All...It's pretty nice for some battles, but it could of been much nicer near the begining of the game...
Mega-all doesn't work with double cut unfortunately. If you have them both equipped, you can not do a double cut. Only a mega-all attack, which is basically a slash-all attack.
Did anyone else spend like 4 hours in the swamp mastering all of your materia?

sorry for the double posts... but there's no king behemoths in FFIV. the ones that you fight in the lunar subterrian and bahamuts cave are just normal... but they're pretty damn hard... and i normally put mega all on my 2n contain, but since you've got added effect and only one contain, there's really no great use for it.

Wait, he says! Do I look like a waiter? *insert laugh*
TheeAntiFOB 2 years ago
lol, that's why i carry a bunch of hypers since saddness is pretty annoying in this dungeon.
Cubbieblue82187 2 years ago
Hahaha, nice FF 6 refrence HCB. 'What dose he look like? A waiter?"

Seems like this LP just flew by even though we've seen a lot and learned many things we missed the first time.

If you don't use an Elixir on a Magic Pot and you attack it, it will shout something bad and steal an item. The words are Japanese I think. The Gremlins at Whirlwind Maze did something similar except it just damages. The move is called Bad Mouth. It's usually a counter attack.
Blackdrake1 2 years ago
Ah, Magic Pots...far more docile in this game than their cousins in FF6 Advance's Soul Shrine, who KILL you if you don't give 'em elixir.

Yes, Ally McBeal was terrible. Whats even worse...my mom bought the DVD boxset. >_>
Now I have to look at the box of that atrocity whenever I want to watch a DVD that starts with A.

I know it doesn't matter for your LP because it's almost over anyways, though.
drunyon214 2 years ago
You could always go all the way back and back to the rendezvous point. Good luck getting the enemy skill which only gets cast once per game by enemies HC.
PhoenixLegends99 2 years ago
Yeah. That is just a lot more inconvenient, though. Better to put it in the glowing light room so you have more flexibility about which way you want to go.
drunyon214 2 years ago
Yeah, you're right. On my first playthrough I thought that i wouldn't use it until some warning came that a boss was coming. So i went down the steps next to where HC is. Bad mistake, as you can't use it there. Got my first game over from that.
PhoenixLegends99 2 years ago
Which "scan lines" were you referring to, HC? I'm not familiar with that term. Did it have to do with the battle transitions?
drunyon214 2 years ago
Most people didn't seem to notice it, but if you really focused, you could see some horizontal lines on an object that was moving too fast. I thought it was some kind of scan lines.
HCBailly 2 years ago
I only noticed that in the Highwind. (and maybe some other locations where Cloud was realy close to the screen.)
Never bothered me though.

I remember Jenny McNeal from Futurama.

Just curious, why didn't you use an Enemy Away Materia to make the battles... lessen? xD;
AngelusCoheed 2 years ago
who ever you have equiped with Slash all... you can use mega all with as it will just pretty much put ALL effects on the magic and your basic attacks. Its decent but sometimes causes more problems.
Sapphiretri 2 years ago
This final dungeon is so calm compared to Memoria that was fuckin boss fights every corner
ozzylifeson 2 years ago
Ally McBeal to me is just a relic of the madness of the late 90s; I hate gimmicks in any media and that show was just one gimmick after the other.
I wasn't a big fan of this dungeon either, especially when compared to the final areas of FF4, 5, and 6. Maybe they thought about giving you the ability to switch parties in this area as in FF6, but since you can only have Cloud, Tifa, or Cid lead a party, you couldn't have exactly the parties you wanted.

My Favorite final Dungeon is prolly Doom Castle from MQ...It's nice to visit the final 4 bosses again^^
dhystrali 2 years ago
mega-all is really only useful if you have a lot of All materia equipped, it saves slots for other materia.
powderredwop 2 years ago
When you go into that organic area and arrive in the final part with the Counter materia in the glowing light, is anyone else reminded of the materia fountain in Mt. Nibel that Sephiroth holds a lecture at in the flashack? It would seem fitting to come back to one of those in Sephiroth's final dungeon.
PvtMinsk 2 years ago
Yeah...movers give I think 2300ap...stick that to a nice Triple AP weapon, and that's a giant 6900ap.
And the magic pots shout Gimme Elixer...they don't really die if you don't give them one, and can sometimes 1shot you after attacking without giving you one...
dhystrali 2 years ago
Looks like much better quality in this video than the previous ones.
somekindawizard 2 years ago
Kefka. Win.
I forgot why you have to use Elixirs on those pots though. Why was that?
CelerityNova 2 years ago
The Magic Pots can't take any kind of damage until you use an elixir on them, that's why you have to use them on the pots.
Jext77 2 years ago
What Jext said. I guess I took it for granted that everyone knew that.
HCBailly 2 years ago
I haven't played this game in years. I knew it was something.

Movers make me happy :P
dhystrali 2 years ago
Hey, Kefka reference FTW! "Wait, he says. Do I look like a waiter?" Classic line from FFVI.
Ugh. My mom used to watch Ally McBeal. That show was brutal. *Shudders just thinking about it*

LOL, that Ally McBeal comment was so random.
japplegren 2 years ago
Didn't see that one coming, did you?
HCBailly 2 years ago
Mover enemies are here like Pink puffs there are 1/64 or less chance on running into them Amd man so the have lot AP points.
Valis77 2 years ago
I don't think Movers are THAT rare. I'm surprised HCBailly didn't show them off. Rarer than Magic Pots, certainly, but I ran into them relatively often. I'm pretty sure it's not 1/64. I'd estimate it's 1/10 or so. They are the best for AP grinding, but they don't give experience, as I recall... so Magic Pots are still pretty good, since they give both.
drunyon214 2 years ago
Movers are quite rare, but i ran into them quite a few times when grinding down there. I personally preferred the magic pots that game, but then, in that playthrough i was abusing the w-item glitch. Movers are more useful in a game without the w-item glitch imo. And they're quite good for gil if i recall too, but you don't really need it anymore when you get to this stage of the game.
PhoenixLegends99 2 years ago
Another good use for it is that it replaces your all materias on that character. However for you that may not be so good since you dont seem to use them that often.

NO FF6 KEFKA REFERENCES FOR YOU!

maybe link double cut and mega all? wouldn't that be like a double slash-all?
cyndachu 2 years ago
Nope...Mega all is useful for like...your green master materia...since mega all is independant and such...I usually get as many master magics as I can, and then just farm movers for leveling the Mega All...It's pretty nice for some battles, but it could of been much nicer near the begining of the game...
dhystrali 2 years ago
yeah, but isn't that why we have mastered all materia?
cyndachu 2 years ago
Mega-all doesn't work with double cut unfortunately. If you have them both equipped, you can not do a double cut. Only a mega-all attack, which is basically a slash-all attack.
