  • The usual deadbeats, out-of-work and not much else to contribute to society except destruction. More usually found hanging around benefit offices and taking money from working taxpayers. Useless individuals who should be shipped out to a remote island and left to fend for themselves.

  • actions speak louder than words

  • Yes, it just reassures us that idiots like these should be locked up.

  • i dont even know whats going on.

    Those people look angry.

  • You campaigning idiots have absolutely no idea how to further yuor cause. You state 'facts' about power stations which demonstrate you are totally ignorant of any fact. 'Release forms' to show footage? Did you have written permission to trespass? Grow up all of you. Come up with facts. Present them in a none violent manner, and then maybe the British public will be able to come to a conclusion other than that you are ignorant, arrogant idiots.

  • I have to say the Police came out quite favorably in this. It is obvious the sore losing activists who never shut down the plant cannot stand being upstaged on youtube. The fence will be fixed at hardly any expense and the protest..erm forgotten!!

  • like the criminal that tried to sit in the front seat of a bus?

  • ur account has not been around for ages. the info is in ur profile. why would u lie hmmmmm?

  • Does this not jeopardise any trial of this person?

I agree with Ben, this is footage for evidence. that's what we are told when we are constantly filmed. Then it's released to a private company's PR department!!!

    Shame on you Nottinghamshire constabulary!

are you going to sell it to Police camera action?

  • At fil2006. See comment to bobbylostandfound and benrise below.

  • well thanks eon, Maybe I'll take a look at my video footage that shows police setting dogs on protesters, neither should be posted on here, neither contributes to the mature debate that you pretend that you want

  • GREENWASH

  • Could somebody from the police whose role is to protect and serve or Eon whose role as a buisness is to make as much money as they can by whatever means their shareholders decide is appropraite explain their reason for releasing a video of this nature and posting it on a public forum?

  • Could somebody explain why the cops are providing e-on with this footage and allow them to use it in their public relation exercise? Great footage, very inspiring. Makes me want to pull down more e-on fences but I don't understand the point of posting it here nor what right the cops have to provide this (filmed at public expense) to e-on.

  • At bobbylostandfound and benrise. Thanks for your comments. These videos are freely available on You Tube and we've added them to our site ourselves. We also have content from NGOs and various other external stakeholders too. The police footage is in the public domain and has also been broadcast by regional media.

  • GREENWASH!

  • Police posed this I suspect to show their actions were just in some of the photos that have come out...which I total agree with in showing a balanced view. This footage doe show a violent rabble no better than the football hooligans of the 80's and 90's

  • Actually think this through. Football Hooligans gathered to fight each other because they supported rival teams. They were occasionally associated with a variety of extremely right wing and violent groups, but were generally apolitical. Climate Camp is a peaceful protest with an aim of preventing catastrophic climate change which would wreck the planet - the acts here are of civil disobedience. I think there is a serious difference.

  • Great action, about time people stood up to companies who profit from destroying the earth and ripping of the average man, so what if it cost taxpayers money for security, its gonna cost a hell of a lot more to unravel their mess that they are getting us into through climate change

  • Stand up the the company - they did not even scratch the company...failed protest, all they have done is raise awareness of how protesters want to engage with Police in a violent way and have it recorded as much as possible. My hat goes off to the protesters who remained peaceful instead of this. Some footage shows protesters laughing as they pull down fences - its just a game to them!!! SHAME ON YOU!!

  • The purpose of the protest has always been, in intent, to gain access to the grounds of Kingsnorth Power Station and shut it down. This act of civil disobedience was to highlight the seriousness of the issue of climate change. Hence it is not as if there was a split between peaceful and other protesters - the whole protest was peaceful and the aim to shut the station down. The whole protest was about this, whether you agree or not.

  • civil disobedience....please that is just a colloquialism for committing crime. Crim Damage, Agg Trespass, Public Order, Assault..etc....I also have noticed that many protester have uploaded their photos...from their computers, powered by electricity, provided by EON maybe..Hmm....I think many who went do not give a stuff, just fixed on the adrenaline of mass violent demonstration. Some of the protesters on the footage I have seen a laughing like possessed hyenas when commitcivil disobedience..

  • Protesters aren't always clever, its just another form of following a crowd, but at least I agree with their cause rather than armchair critics (conservatives) who see no issue with keeping it all the same because they are comfortable now. People have got to stop being shortsighted and then protesters can stop vandalising things!

  • e.on's committment to 'dialogue' seems questionable. rather, their extensive collaboration with the police is even more clear.

Those protesters are brave men and women who feel it is morally unconcionable to stand by and watch companies like e.on burning climate-change-causing coal in order to pursue a profit based agenda.

It is e.on that is using taxpayers money irresponsibly in burning fossil fuels, e.on who shows no regard for the dangers of climate change, e.on who risk our future.

  • At pettican1. Thanks for your comment. I'd like to assure you that we're not 'colluding' with the police and that we're firmly committed to having an open and honest debate which incidentally, is something we've been calling for publicly for some time. If you watch the videos you'll see opinions from us but also films from NGOs, the police and a range of other external stakeholders which is only right. We do see coal as an important part of a balanced energy mix but in a reduced, cleaner form.

  • greenwash greenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwash

    blah blah blah

    greenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwash

    more profit blah blahgreenwashgreenwashgreenwashgreenwash

    EON = the real criminals

  • Ah, agreement at least! The protesters also want to see the balance of coal in the energy mix reduced - that's why they don't want Ratcliffe-on-soar (less than 40% effecient) to continue burning the stuff for another 30 years.

Seems like this debate is finally getting somewhere.

So when e-on move forward with building Kingsnorth (with 100% CCS I assume) I guess your company will also be decomissioning Ratcliffe-on-soar?

  • At benrise. You'll be interested to know that were closing Kingsnorth: 1,974MW, and Ironbridge: 970MW, together with our oil-fired power station at the Isle of Grain at1,350MW. I'd call that reducing the amount of old, less efficient fossil fuel E.ON operates in the UK.

  • Are you closing them because of the urgent need to cut CO2 emissions or because they were in fact all long ago schedualled to be decomissioned at this point?

With their closure, are you taking the opportunity to invest in a long term sustainable energy infrastructure - or will you just replace them with marginally more efficient 'supercritical' coal burning plants (with CCS bolted on if is eventually proved economically viable)?

  • kick there ass dude

  • Do you have any useful debate to give, on almost every video on this channel you have posted unuseful unconstructive posts . . . Well done

  • i dont care if they are "unconstructive" you communist

Theres a thing called freedom of speach-im using it

  • This is a great demo of these protesters being miltant and singleminded - trying to shut down a station without regard for safety, blackouts ('great' publicity for the protesters if a hospital had had a blackout). 1000 extremists costing the taxpayer and billpayers more than half a million quid.

  • What an exciting piece of footage!

    Please post more!

  • Why is this exciting all it shows is violent people NOT supporting a cause. I do not see a message here about saving the environment all I see is anarchy!! strange perspective you have

  • you make anarchy seem like a bad thing. do you know what anarchism actually is or stands for?

  • Actually if you analyze the footage carefully you'll note that all the protestors appear to be working towards the same goal - to get people into the station. (This could be, of course, aggravated trespass.) They are supporting their cause - the end of burning coal for energy - simply by showing the strength of their feelings.

  • History shows people said exactly the same thing about the Chartists, the Suffragettes and the Civil Rights movement, not to mention every labour rights movement. Dismissing them as trouble makers and rabble rousers is not an argument. Every single concession - from the vote, to universal education - has required some degree of this. Do you want to be on the wrong side of history so badly?

  • How precisely is posting this, which is already readily avaliable already via Nottingham police, constructive? How is it approaching the much mooted 'dialogue'? It seems rather an attempt to smear your opponents who were always honest regarding their intent.

PR war won't look too clever when everyone on areas of the coast are under water.

  • Great point.

  • Because all the protesters seem more hell bent on police footage than the power station!!! All the they want is confrontation videos or their youtube account!!!!!!
