It may be so...ur a feminine man....if thats the case....and u want to claim that you are a woman....u fight the good fight for watever u r! i will stand behind u gurl!
This is most certainly something that has evoked many comments (below) and it is this inner 'fighting' and 'pulling at the labels' and 'scratching and clawing' which makes those who approach the subject want to bite their tongue. Yet it has to be said. It like the six blind men washing an elephant, each at their own end, arguing endlessly about WHAT an elephant feels like...The one washing the trunk is not going to have the same notion as the the others...YET..they are sharing a common reality.
the gender binary, male/female is what defines male and female. if you want to play with a "bit of male, a bit of female" then you are not conforming to the gender binary so why insist on the use of the word 'female'? to be transsexual, a clear identification is required. to be 'trans' it appears that all is required is roleplay.
again, why require the definition of 'female' if you do not respect the gender binary? find a new word. be a 'trans person'.
"Femininity" is not the same as being a woman. "Masculinity" is not the same as being a man. This is the fatal mistake of transgender as a movement or ideology and why transgender theory is mostly nonsense.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah awesome. i find you to be an excellent representation of one of the infinite ways in which non-binary gender can manifest and i applaud you for standing your ground in that respect. i worry that a lot of transfolks may initially struggle with the idea that they are part of a minority and a way of accepting it is to force themselves into yet another category, possibly one more external than internal. congratulations on simply being yourself!
Okay, so if I understood correctly, you feel fully female in personality and character, in who you are, but acknowledge that you have a male body? In that case you'd be a transsexual woman, who is not transitioning for whatever reason. But if you feel that you identify as both male and female, then you'd be genderqueer. BOTH are part of the transgender community, but they are different parts of it.
I agree with you on alot of issues; there needs to be alot more emphasis on the sorts of behavioral and social aspects of feeling this femininity attached to the whole trans culture, but I do believe that hormones and surgery have taken a forefront for a reason. Our society, being so polar, seems to put that pressure on us; we want to look the part, so to speak. Unfortunately I think there're so many different perspectives that any unification probably won't ever be agreed upon. :p
You have a right to define yourself, but don't expect people to agree with your self-definition, especially the WBT crowd.
Unfortunatley this whole term "transgender" confuses the general public about transsexual issues. Transvestites, crossdresser, gender queers, etc are completely different from transsexuals simply by the fact that they want to and get to keep male privileges. Yet try to lump themselves in with transsexuals (transwomen), who have given up male privileges.
I'm trans myself but I agree that it must be confusing for the general public...what we need is some sort of community to define it concretely and put it up for all to see.
Woah who the hell appointed you to police 'trans' in other people. Is that not after all one of the main complaints - that society defines such narrow, prejudicial gender roles for everyone?
Here's someone who has hit on the crux of the transsexual situation - that female minds do live inside male bodies. Fair play Jasper. Don't let those
'holier than thou' haters in the community pull you into their conflicted paradigm.
His suggestion that his way of presenting himself is better than pursuing self transformation for the sake of feeling better in ones own skin is demeaning towards transfolk in general.
I think using 'his' and 'he' constantly to refer to Jasper, when Jasper has identified as a transsexual woman (regardless of what you may think) is also demeaning. But fair enough - we all have different perspectives on this. Some more polarised than others, I guess.
Thank you for speaking up Suebillina. I like your attitude.
b.t.w. I am pretty agnostic on pronouns. She and He are both fine with me. I like she, but it is not a bid deal. I am keeping my male body after all :)
Trans does not equal transsexual. That vocabulary is noninclusive. So transwoman does not equal transsexual woman. It can mean transsexual woman or transgender woman. I am identifying as a transgender woman.
My point about being the same is that all trans people share the same neurobiology. In a social sense I agree that we are all different.
Ah I see. Got it. Thanks for clarifying that. I think some transsexual people took exception to being grouped with transgendered folks. It is a shame I think, since there is so much to learn and share from respective experiences - whether similar or different. I'm not sure I fully understand the reasoning behind those who seek to be divisive but it comes across as gender politics rather than genuine 'defense' . I just read on your response (on your blog) to some of the criticisms - spot on!
Part of me wants to say "woman" and "lesbian" are labels that do not apply to you if you identify as a feminine male. And yet part of me is going, "I shouldn't mess with someone else's identity." It's no clear answer. But please do not appropriate OTHER trans people's identities to make a point about yours.
I think that many trans people would take issue with you saying this because they want the world to see us a certain way, in a certain light. This would be, in the case of MtF's, individuals who are making modifications to become more feminine, passable, soft, smooth. It's not always about 'stealth' or complete passability. It's about the effort.
Seeing as how you aren't making ANY modifications, it would just further confuse a society of people who would still just consider you to be a CD.
As always Aria, our opinions intersect in unexpected ways. I agree that transgender as umbrella is synthetic. I did not ask to become an umbrella. Now we have people like Sueliz identifying as transgender and hating on non-transsexual transgenders like me. I would be very happy is sueliz and her ilk stopped using lgbt as cover fr their hate.
Unfortunately, right-wing passers like susliz feel very threatened by the things I say and are sending me hate mail. hey think that i am insane. But they always hated crossdressers anyway.
I know. I'm just frustrated and at a loss for a reason that they must lash out. I hope everyone understands that my comment was directed at susliz and not you. It was meant to be a reply to that person's comment.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Not to mention transsexualism is an in utuero birth defect and the "transgender" condition is condidered a paraphilia.
Now don't get me wrong I am not hating on you but the only biology I share with you is being homo sapien.

"beard and all"... no sorry, a trans woman would shave.

You may be a "transgendered male", but you're not a transsexual woman.
Transexual women aren't feminine males, they are women who suffered the unfortunate misfortune of being born with the wrong genitalia.
While you are content with your penis, you aren't a "transwoman". Simple as that.
Redefining lables is poor form.
And by the by, no, people are not in any way all the same in any way other than the fact that they're all different.

Female minds in male bodies = FTM Transsexual.
Feminine Male =/= Transsexual.
What he describes is not transsexualism.
