I cannot say for you or anyone else. It is simply a case of FS9 can do things FSX cannot and those things I need and cannot do without. So FSX is of no use to me.

What's your problem?. I often fly the full flight a couple of times (yes IFR) to make sure the flight is good or interesting enough for video.That is how I know the NDB Rwy 2 approach is available for FS9 ATC.

So yes the IFR plan was not filed...but the approach was flown as if it was. I was flying by Instrument Flight Rules as I always do.

There is a HUGH difference between VFR and VMC. Ed is saying he shot the NDB approach under IFR rules while in VMC. 90% of instrument approaches are flown in VMC/VFR conditions.

You won't, you need to make a flightplan with the FS flightplanner.

If you are using FSBuild just export it to FS2004 format, then load it in FS. If you key in the same waypoints, ATC should be happy.

Well there isn't much that is easier than setting a FS Recorder tower view....also FS Recorder does not cause fps problems, but Fraps would...do you mean Fraps? (video capture)

hello Ed. No I meant that in FSRecorder when it records in the background it keeps writing to the disk (if im right) and so it causes a bit of stutter? do you not get that? 5 Stars - But you knew that already. I just flew this approach in FSX after watching your video, and I think it is more challenging then TNCM as there is no direct NAVAID to follow. It's pure dead reckoning, following DME waypoints. from SKP. What was nice was that the NDB Rnwy 2 approach was selectable in the default ATC, so that kept ATC happy. Although I did make a few procedural errors on this flight (ie: never announced final...) Landing was ok but a little harder than yours. (200ft VSI)

Well I just uploaded my FSX version. Whats interesting is I found later that the scenery you used (gap_lgsk_2007) appears to be completely compatible with FSX, (atleast SP1, I doubt it is with SP2). There are aspects of it that does look a little different then what I see in the FS2004 videos, like the freighter along side the airport, the booms on it are yellow, not white as FS2004. Also the runway is placed different to the FSX default. A little left and back. Not sure which is more accurate.

Well on second look, it looks like there are coastline issues with it in FSX. My guess though, is the problem is more related to UTX Europe than FSX itself. The airport scenery itself looks real good.

In a way yes because I love a smooth touchdown.

I am not a real pilot but I think IRL I would be less concerned with a smooth t/d but to make sure I touched down at the right point...with such a short runway there is no room for floating.

My last real flight to Greece was Santorini with XL.....again a short rwy.

The pilot slammed the the 738 into the rwy (we bounced) probably what I would do IRL
