  • I own the 2008 STI and I will Own the evo x eventually also the reason i bought the Sti first is when you see it in the flesh it is a much better looking car in real life than in pics/video. I do believe after driven both that in a straight line or track the evo will out perform the Sti but the Sti will give you a hard time and that is what floats my boat tbh a car that does it all for you is for the family :-) so the kids can come in the evo but the Sti is mine :p

  • wut are u guys talkin about... the evo is probably the most aggressive looking car out there... and dont worry about quality... mitsubishi has taken care of that in the 2010 touring evo X model... comes with leather EVERYTHING, in-dash screen, audio jacks, sunroof, color computer outread (in between rpm n mph its not red anymore)... look it up on here... so wut u suby guys have to say now... the evo has all around better performance, looks, handling, brakes and very soon to be interior...

  • Not actually its not better in performance and looks aswell as handling or brakes. They are equally matched when it comes to handling and brakes. Performance the Suby will most likely win on dyno and is the vehicle of choice in this day and age. When you buy a evo that costs 30k plus for performance when you can get a suby for 25k with the performance you need. Evo is very over rated

Road and track has tested the MR touring (11.09) to run 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, it breaks sooner than an STI, beats an STI or EVO X GSR on any road course/laptimes with its dual clutch SST transmission. All this performance PLUS better looks PLUS functioning aero kits, PLS leather and heated RECAROs, all leather seats, arm rests, power moonroof, color LCD, a more advanced AWD (S-AWC with yaw control)EVO

  • the new STI styling is sad Extremely ugly I couldn't believe it when I saw it very disappointing styling the older model is much nicer, the Evo in other hand looks better I always liked the Subaru quality and style better but this Subaru is just way too ugly they fucked up the design

  • I thought the same until I saw the Evo X in the flesh and was horribly disappointed. It looks like a slightly angry Volvo. The Impreza is no beauty but, with 18 inch wheels (which should be standard) it has far more attitude and presence. It also deosn't break down every week unlike the, seemingly, poorly built Evo X.

  • o no doubt the quality of the Subaru is better than Evo x. I could deal with the Subaru being a hatch but the front end I don't know it reminds of the mazda 3 too much but still the Subaru is better quality car than Evo for sure

  • @Ali360 hey What are you talking about break down every week? I never had my evox break down on me since I got it, and I use it on race also. Maybe you dont know how to use the evo x, or maybe your doing something you wasn't suppose to.

    The Evo X is a great car period.

  • Yes exactally I saw both in the flesh and the STI looks way better to me now. I always had a soft spot for EVO's but dont right the STI off beacuse it looks mean up close go and see for you self especailly from the side and front

  • Look at 1:00 on the vid. STI driver has to use severe lift-off oversteer in order to get the car to slide, then at 1:02 you can see the understeer start to build up.

    Whereas with the Evo you can just put it where you want it, how you want it.

  • Your conversation is going childish. Both are rally cars, and used a lot there. Mitsubishi won 4 in row. To inform you, WRC isnt even close of most powerful class, and its rules doestn allow evos hitech 4wd system whit active differentials. So all evos benefits are disallowed .... Evos are very good rally cars, and very much used in other rally classes, I bet more than subarus.

  • no. even if they used their ayc it still wouldnt beat a subaru in rally. yeah they won 4 in a row and havent won anything since. while subaru won 47 or so rallys since 2005 (2005 because mitsu quit rally after that) mitsu only won about 34 rallys since then.

  • yes they can. they won 34 if i remember correctly. while subaru won 47. they are used in other series, but its not mitsubishi making the cars. its other tuning companies like hks and cusco.

  • At its most basic level:

    Understeer - have to enter a corner slower in order for the front to grip, otherwise you'll run wide and loose time. Unless of course you use lift-off oversteer but that can be unpredictable. Dull to drive.

    Oversteer - depending upon your skill, can enter a corner several MPH faster, catching the oversteer and enabling a slight powerslide/drift from the apex to the exit of the turn, all in a controlled manner. Fun to drive.

  • you can use understeer to exit the corner faster though. evo has a better corner entry speed, but sti has better exit speed.

  • About 4wd techs. There where STI has only active center. Evo has Active rear and cetner, torsen front diff. And in on road models, they have integrated SST-TC and traction control to operate together whit this 4wd system. If you look the TG's test video, you see how big difference is in these 2 cars handling. Evo goes exactly the line you want.

  • Also, please, look up the technical definition of oversteering and understeering. These phenomenons are related to the relationship between front and rear tire yaw angles. Any respectable texts and race car dynamics would tell you that. And any respectable race car dynamic text would also tell you that a car with a slight understeer at the limit is faster due to drivers' inability to control a car that tends to oversteer at the limit.

  • krittmasta > looks like you never tested evo... evo is better controled car than sti, sti has brutal power, steering control, so you need more skils to drive sti the same as evo. but with the same skils evo is better, and more potential. i like the way sti is landing - on all 4, evo 8,9 on front axle, but evo 10 on all 4 wheels. evo YAW control is wonderfull thing. you never thinked why sti is cheaper than evo?

    i like impreza (GT) but being objective - evo is more precicious.

  • EVO or STI is all personal choice depending on how you drive. I prefer STI though. I just like how it moves and how it has more control than EVO. I think evo has potential, but I hate interior and how the steering is not so honest.
