I love my JP, even better now i got to hear the Jupiter 80 at its unveiling and I almost laughed when i remembered how the JP8000 almost became the Jupiter 8000. Totally puts digital to shame yet unleashes a nice balance between analog and digital hybrid. Oh, I wrote this while i listened to the video, that's why its so nostalgic lol ;)
Your lead guitar-like tones and soloing technique are superb. It reminds me of Jan Hammer on Miami Vice and that is as high of praise as I can give to a synth player. You might want to consider not doing the wild tremolo effect though (I'm not sure if you are using the modulation axis on the joystick or the touchpad). The crazy tremolo makes it sound like the synth is momentarily having hardware problems...which it isn't...but it distracts from your "manual" technique which is excellent.
well, finally some one make sense with the jp-8080, i have seeing different demos and the are terrible, it seems like don't know what is what. and mostly is only the demo. i am not a musician but i like this space ship allot, of course i much like to have the jp-8080 & jp-8000,my fav synthzs Waldorf, Nord, Korg Z1, Omega, Mephisto, Andromeda and many many others, ,i used to go to the stores in the bay area and hang on for hours and days for some years, synths is incredible, they helped me
I recognize that Pattern on the Motif ES (Which I have also) as the SynthPop pattern, but all I hear is the drum track...how do you have the whole song going? Ive heard the whole thing as a demo on the Yamaha website...
hello,it's synth pop pattern but i dont know what do you mean .you heard the pattern in totality but you can cut off one or two part of it :you can see my new video of this song on my page :see "minimoog voyager electric blue) :))
Alternatively i'm told the SH-201 have the same core sound-engine as the jp-8000. Prolly a tad easier to get your hands on, and it's very easy to use for sure, and the sound is really something to enjoy. IMO the low budget end of the market - Roland SH-201, Korg MicroKORG XL, DSi Mopho and Waldorf Blofeld are all extremely high value items. You can spend twice the amount of their cost without really getting more quality. That's ofc all Analog Modelling synths romplers is a whole different matter
ce jp 8000 me faisait réver étant ado j'en vendait dans un magasin de zic c'est vraiment le meilleur analogique virtuel que j'ai pu testé bien mieux que le norlead x2.
What is the point of playing a lead sound on such an old instrument? Motif ES (below) doesn't have great leads? Sorry for asking noob questions, I am new to this whole keyboards thing.
is that in the motif it is "sample" and it is not easy to modify the sound in real time.if the synthetiseur is old it is not important but each keyboard have a particular sonority.with the jp 8000 it's easy to modify the sound when you play because he have more control:but i am not a fan of jp 8000 ,i sell it and i buy a nordwave ,it is the same spirit but the sound is better for my use.
The Motif is designed for Hip-Hop, R&B, realistic instruments... Of course you have synth sounds on the Motif, but the Roland JP can be modeled like an old synth
Too bad the video is off synch with the sound. But really nice playing. I love the JP-8000! You can check out how I use my JP-8000 live on my userpage on the 'Tervakello' -sessions.
I love this song a lot. Have the JP 8000 too.

The Jp8000 is really one of the best synths ever! I made a synth lead solo video myself on it if you want to check it out! =)

More like 400 euro now. I would prefer a Blofeld or Mopho, or maybe a second-hand Nord Lead Rack.
djcondra 3 years ago
i would take the jp8000 over the blofeld anyday...
blofeld sounds too harsh and digital..but if you like that sound, go for it.
