Most of these are not even from Puerto Rico. What is the difference between NY and Puerto Rican styles anyway? For Cubans, this is just American style ballroom with jazz, ballet and modern
me gusto mas el estilo del abuelo con el puro jajja oigan toda la musica que se baila en puerto rico es asi de rapida ?? ni chance hay de cachondear con la mujer
Amigos what is the name of that song al principio que dice " dame ese beso ahora " please ! let me know that song sounds good.... damn they realy put up a show man !
All i got to say que we boricua dance with style y con sabor!!!! don't matter, we are known for salsa and miss universe and all the Beautiful people this island has to offer!!! And no one can tell me otherwise!!!
I think they are decent dancers. But I absolutely abhore when people just spin constantly. When I here a really good salsa song, I want to move my feet (as in do actual salsa steps) and my hips.
It is great, but i thought that salsa dancers have a more intensive hip movement. Here are fancy spins but less hip movement compared to other Latin dances. At salsa aren't hips so important???

@parvatipatil87 should be, just that many LA salsa dancers I've noticed concentrate so much more on the hand movements and timing that they forget about the hips....where as colombian style dancers dont have as many spins so they have more time to concentrate on the hip movements

I'm from Medellín Colombia and I went to Puerto Rico recently. There is a big difference in dancing styles between Puerto Ricans and Colombians. I think these two countries have the best salsa dancers (with respect to the people of Callao). The difference in my opinion is that the Boricuas dance more like ballroom dancing (lots of spins, etc.) and Colombians dance more to the beat of the music. Which one is the best? Who cares as long as everyone is having fun.
@alfwha pff cocky colombian attitude, both styles of salsa enforce to dance to the beat and in time, what u talking about? u must be watching the Puerto ricans that dance on2 and think it's off beat. Anyway i've seen plenty of colombians in my time dancing out of time and rythm, it's more to do with the persons own ear for music as opposed to geographic origin.
Cocky Colombian attitude? Dude, I'm sorry if you misunderstood what I was saying since I implied that both styles are great. Yes, there are Colombians that do not know how to dance the same way that I suspect that there are Puerto Ricans who don't know either. Still, I admire when Puerto Ricans dance because they do some crazy moves...it is just that many times the music is going one way and the spinning is going another. Just an opinion.
@jayroo10 Well Spoken and well said...These Colombians Live off PuertoRican Salsa. Eddie Torres for Instant, NYRICAN who if it wasen't for him, the moves they use in Salsa wouldn't have Flow, How about Angel Rodriguez and Addie his wife from Razz-Ma-Tazz they are the ones who are responsible for all this Salsa Crazee I mean WORLD WIDE!! so, im sure Colombians have tooken many lessons to then say...WE DO IT OUR OWN STYLE!!Yeah right! you's pick;d those steps and moves from a Boricua name Eddie.T
@alfwha Papa'...Ball room is diffrent, very much so, it's stiff and very mechanical. Trust me, The salsa ya dance in Colombia, its elements and base is from PuertoRicans, Com'ON Man, if you get me start you wont have where to sit!!! Eddie Torres, Papito Jala-Jala' are you gonna tell me these Pioneros who made steps that you and all COLOMBIA use and dance to is gonna tell me these Professores de Bailes are Ball Room Dancers? Roberto Rohena? Anibal Vaquez? teachers who have even taught in Colombia
@alfwha But whoever told you that Colombia made their own style of Salsa? If it weren't for Boricuas like Eddie torres, Anibal Vazquez,(Que Descanse en Paz) Papito Jala'Jala, Roberto Roheana, just to give you a pinch of a few name of these legends of who Pioneered who made the Salsa Steps and turns and patterns and shines. Now you tell me where Colombia comes in to play, when, how, and where...and what day and time with first and last names as to what colombia made in la salsa? you meant COPY?
@alfwha Cause...it don't matter how u say it, it phrase it or express it. YOU AND ALL COLOMBIA dances what the PuertoRicans made of what is called LA SALSA! be it in Music,or Dancing. I mean..you tell me? jaja' PuertoRicans made the Latin Hustle, the Boogaloo which is play'd out and thats what ya still dance. So, how is it that ya dance on the beat? tell me? When P.Ricans like Eddie Torres who invente NYRICAN STYLE Salsa on tha2, En PuertoRico they dance on Clave and on Tumbao' WHAT DO YA DANCE?
@alfwha Boricuas like Eddie Torres made and invented and pioneer which ever way u wanna say it.. NYRICAN STYLE Salsa on tha2, which it was taken World wide!!! Greece, Israle, russia, China, Japan, Austrial, All over EUROPE! you tell me, Thats just talkn about Eddie torrres who is Responsible for spreading and teaching and having people world wide copy his moves and steps and shines as to this thing called "SALSA" that u and all of Colombia learned from. So tell me?give me a Break me down? jaja
@alfwha Shit...If it weren't for people like the Boricuas Colombia wouldn't have danced Salsa like they so much love it. I mean...it's cool to say that in South America Ya are amoung the ones who loves LA SALSA possibly the Most...But, You got Venezuela, and Peru is taking over it in all South America! bUT when you say PuertoRicans are Ballroom dancers jaja My friend, you must be on a dream fantasy trip! cause it don't matter of PuertRicans do it ballroom or on Clave and on BEAT! We Invented it.
@alfwha See i think you got it all confused my friend...How old are you by the way, you must be a young buck talkn out your mouth like that..Cause what u say about the turns it's true...alot of the Young Generation they learn alittle turns and y se lucen, thats all they know how to do..But Fuk with the Boricuas that live it, eat it, and shit it. so u can see what Salsa is! We have El CONGRESO de LA SALSA MUNDIAL! we made that shit! No Colombians ya look, learn and copy and acted it out. thats it
@alfwha I went to Cali/Medellin/Buena Aventura, and Baranquilla. When i was in the Military and All i seen over there was Cumbia ...and many colombians that dance Salsa off waaaaaaaaaaay off the flow and tempo of the Tumbadora. which it looks like they are hearing the Trumpets instead of the Choque' de las Congas con la Clave'. Hopping on one foot tryn to do what PuertoRicans did 50years back called the Boogaloo jajaja and even that they didn't do well bumping into eachother jaja so u tell me?
@alfwha Colombians think they dance on Beat...Cause i've seen colombians dance manytimes over where they look like they killing Roaches or their feet is on Fire!!! and they tryn to StOMP out a fire or something or looks like thety gotta go to the bathroom and take a Piss' jajaja Seriously! And ya call that on Beat? Paii...let me explain something to you chamaquito, don't try and talk shit to then eat it. What Colombia and the whole WORLD DANCES! is the Basis and Fundamentals of what is SALSA!
@alfwha As a matter fact...We ready to teach ya how to make your own Music Cumbia sound better and dance it better....jaja just listen to ñEjo who is taking the Reggeatton and fusioning it with Cumbia. Sounds nice. We even that hick ass music call Bachata that was never heard of and fusioned it with Reggeatton, which Tego, Don Omar, Daddy Yankee are the ones who are the ones resposible for that and then afterwards a half Boricua/Domini called Romeo Santo of Adventure then made it cross over.
@alfwha if you knew was and were Great Legends World Wide known...and they are PuertoRicans!!! not Colombians.FACT! Eddie Torres, Anibal Vasquez, Papito Jala'Jala' Angel Rodriguez, Addie Rodriguez .Who made Razz-Ma-Tazz, thats just a tease to name afew who are the one who made it possible and responsible to show and teach the entire world and people have took their moves and steps and turns and twisted around to call them other names to try and take fame to say its theirs, which means COPYCATS
@alfwha Guess what your from Medillin Colombia, i don't know what part of P.R you were in?..But, even the Kids in grade school are taught to dance Salsa. it's the National Dance of PuertoRico that in the morning the teachers warm up their students to begin the rest of the day. So you tell me...Even the kids, in PuertoRico dance Salsa, they sleep it, eat it, shit it, All colombians do is impersonate it,mimic it, and COPY IT! you tell me? jaja where do Colombians fall in place as to making Salsa?
@alfwha ya dance more to like Jumping off beat..that Boogaloo is Play'd out man. My GREAT GRANDFATHER use to dance that crap! and the shit is..Boricuas made it, and ya Colombians still dance to it. jajaja So you tell me, Be it..BALLROOM! or STREET GHEETO STYLE SALSA DE CALLEJON! or ON STAGE, or CLASSY SALSA We PuertoRicns are the ones who made it and invented it and ya eat it and consume it. So where do Colombians come into play here? when ya Dance Cumbia. I mean ya can like Salsa,it's not Yours
Salsa dancing varies from country to country. That was salsa and those are salseros. What I think is not salsa is that mix between brakedancing and salsa.
Being a ballroom dancer I have to agree and disagree, some people get really cocky and all but consider this. Those of us who compete in the ballroom world spend endless hours working on posture, arm/leg lines, leg action etc. We do these so that when we perform we don't have to think about those elements and just go out and have fun with it. And when we dance salsa our training shows but by no means does it mean that we don't feel the music.
Good comment! However, I believe salsa dance is to have fun and if you have the skills, show of!!! WHat the heck! Remember, most of this people in the congress are bailarines more than bailadores. They come to have fun. I am sure they have the passion for dance. And me, being a "salsero de la mata", love when I see people enjoying the music that I grew up with, however they feel it. I agree with you "Que viva la salsa".
