im getting sorta used to using flash off camera, had my 2nd flash a few weeks now. Just a bit of advice really if u dont mind.... what sort of zoom range are you using on ur flashes...or does it depend on what look your after etc...??? keep up the vids dom!! they really do help!
hey dom, can i achieve this look with just one flash? i have a sony a300 with a rokinon dedicated ttl flash. when flash is connected i can only get a max shutter of 1/160. what settings do i need to use? thanks hun!
Because he raised the shutter speed for the flash shot. Shutter speed controls the "ambient" light and f-stop will control how the flash exposes.... if you're in total manual with no TTL.
@75JEG because that is the look i was wanting. a dark and saturated background, by stopping down as much as possible, fastest shutter and smaller aperture to cut out as much of the ambient light, and controling the light on me with flash
wheres kim?

@bendover90 the flash does not affect the camera exposure metering. i had the camera in manual mode and made it ias dark as possible

I like the look that the flashes gave as well. But notice the background is a little on the dark side - why is that Dom?
