  • The song is made by Robbie Robertson"main theme"

  • What is the song at the end of the clip?

  • After we saw this, my brother and I just keep finding situations to end conversations with: "Oh yeah? what makes you so sure?" ".....hey......I'M BACK!"

  • great ending, if only he couldve done as good for Shutter Island

  • For me, this ending is perfect. To anyone who saw 'The Hustler' before this, at least for me, that bit where Paul Newman goes "Hey, I'm back" is just brilliant.

  • Yeah but I would have liked to see them play and see who was better, I know thats not the point the point is Eddie is back but I would have liked to know who would have won.

  • vince wouldnt stand a chance if eddie was in his prime if vnice played eddie when he was the age in the hustler eddie would have wiped the floor with him

  • good but the hustler was great

  • Paul newman was a great actor,i think he deserved more oscars for alot of his movies.Great movie

  • "Fast" Eddie Felson gets his wings back...

  • song name?

  • any REALLY good movie is a "realization*"..... an "apiphany*". the ending of this movie hit me like a sledge hammer. it was wonderful.

  • does anyone know the name of the song that plays at the end of this clip i have wanted to know for 25 yrs

  • @48brianm Robbie Robertson (color of money theme) Search Robbie Robertson Main title on you tube

  • they both took a cue ball and shot the same time to see who could get the close's to the other side where they stand with the ball this is how you get to shoot first brake

  • @thejobloshow dude have you seen casino or the departed? or kundun or hell shutter island? his creative peak was not goodfellas. he's still going strong.

  • Hey, I'm back

  • Nice film

  • one of the all time classics (pun intended)

  • wonder who won i know vince couldnt take fast eddie in his prime

  • Very Good movie. I live 10 years like billiard gambler. Exactly like in the movie.

  • Very Good movie. I live 10 years like billiard gambler. Exactly like in the movie.

  • One of the best endings ever. Period.

  • I have seen this movie many times and never get sick of it. This scene in particular is so perfect. I find myself coming back here a lot when times are tough and Im not sure I can move past challenges. What a better metaphor for our world? "I'm back." I am clueless when it comes to cinematic narrative arch or good direction, but Paul Newman exudes 'coolness' and it is hard to watch him here and not feel that. I'm back indeed!

  • Its a great ending to a great film, you really need to revisit the entire film, but firsly watch part 1 "The Hustler" ............. a classic, you can't watch The Color Of Money without seeing the first film

  • vince was better for two main resons eddie is not in his prime and he quit playing pool for over 25 years if eddie was shooting like he did in the hustler he would have wiped the floor with vince

  • Man I thought the ending to this was so damp and squib. I mean theres no moral learnt by Eddie at all. Wasnt chasing his opponent the thing that screwed him in the first one. Really, really bad ending.

  • @mmeister7 well, in the new movie his struggle wasnt the same as the old movie. his new weakness is not having his manhood, ie his pool game.

  • parece toney ramos e antonio fagundes nao eh mesmo?

  • Paul Newman won an Oscar for this.

  • whats the name of the song at the end?

  • PauL NeWman iS ALLway's HOT.... WiTH oR WiTHouT...CooL-GLaSSeS !!!

  • ive never seen the movie. but how bad could it be? its got tom cruise and paul newman. i mean. duh? yum!

  • @dizzylizzy1974 It's a great movie. I don't think Scorsese made one bad movie during the 80s. His creative peak ending with Goodfellas.

  • @thejobloshow umm i dont guess you watched the departed??

  • @thejobloshow Her name is Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, but Al Pacino's sister in Scarface will suffice.

  • @thejobloshow You're kidding right? Did you see Casino? Cape Fear? Departed? Gangs of New York? The Aviator? Shutter Island? He's also going to be directing The Irishman with Deniro, Pacino and Pesci...C'mon man, his creative peak? He's just getting warmed up!

  • @dizzylizzy1974 It is not in the same league as The Hustler, but it is a very good film. It has one of Forest Whitaker's early performances. And I am a Helen Shaver fan from way back.

  • The "Hey, I'm back!" is the climax and the whole point of the movie and it dovetails perfectly with how "The Hustler" ended with Fast Eddie's career practically being ended for him by Bert Gordon.

  • i think vnice won also but i dont think he would have stood a chance if eddie was in his prime cause he took down minn fats down like nothing

  • so who do yall think won also u think vince could take eddie in his prime cause in the movie the hustler he had some mad skills

  • @metairie33 Vince. He already beat USA no:1 twice.

  • What! "the most anticlimactic ending ever" lol. what were you expecting? a helicopter crashing through the roof of the pool club bursting into flames, a man bursts through the door and guns down Vince and Eddy then sets himself alight! it's a film about pool!

  • I would have liked to see Paul Newman impale Tom Cruise on his special pool cue and just before he draws his last breathe, Tom says "You really are fast.... Eddieeee."

Cut to credits, cue Morrissey. A MARTIN SCORSESE FILM.

  • @thejobloshow

now that would NOT have been anticlimactic. Pretty funny

  • a very good ending in my opinion. and a very good sequal to the hustler

  • theres so many ways to make a sequal an example would be...that vince has a kid

and he becomes the next hustler just an opinion

  • Thank you for posting this. You should change the title. Please.

  • I AM BACK!! PAUL NEWMAN :))))

  • ikercompean just brought up a really good point that changed my view on the ending. You're right iker the ending is fitting because it didn't matter who wins, just that Newman has his skills back and that Cruise has been taught all he needs to know.

  • perfection

  • HEY!

    Ich bin wieder Da!

  • wirklich einer der besten filme aller zeiten.

  • Even when I was young I didn't care for the ending.

  • i just finished watchin THE HUSTLER two hours ago... FAST EDDIE FELSON IS BAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKK =)

  • the movie may have lost its way a little at the end but is by far the most ineresting movit about pool or any other kind of hustlers whatsoever..engrossing entertaining

  • this is most amazing movie

  • I disagree. To me, this ending is perfect. I love it! I actually find it very exciting. He's back. Who wins or loses is not important: the important thing is that he has found himself again, he's back to his original self.

  • @ikercompean I agree. I love this ending. It's perfect.

  • ***ALERT******

this is missing frames ..he says "i'm fast eddy" or something before he says "i'm back".

  • this ending would be amazing if they only played "it's in the way that you use it" right after the last frame here

  • I totally agree- this song fits perfectly....tom cruise acts great in this movie.

  • the whole movie was anticlimatic

  • that song should have lyrics. its an awesome instrumental

    (r.i.p) paul newman

  • The song is by Robbie Robertson - "The color of money theme" This movie is a classic but I agree that the ending could have been better - its like they were planning a sequel that never happened

  • who sings the song that starts jamming right after paul newman says "im back"? that song is awesome!

  • What the fuck?

  • There are some dumb people in this world if you didnt like the movie why would you veiw the movie clips?

  • Great movie if you dont like it then why the hell are you posting you idiot silvaa70 you fool!!

  • Comment removed

  • I have to say that this my be Scorsese's worst movie, although it is somewhat entertaining.

  • I always thought this movie sucked. I am almost embarrased for Cruise when he's spinning and swinging his cue like a sword. GOD! It reminds me of idiots I see at the pool hall. It's always the young guys spinning their cues. Anyway, the hustler beats this movie in everyway. Just my opinion.

  • Yeah it's mostly the script that I have problems with, technicallly it's well realised (as one would expect from Scorsese).

  • "It reminds me of the idiots I see at the pool hall." Uhhhhh,,,,,,Wouldn't that be the point of the performance?

  • In my opinion, if you didn't like the ending, you were most likely caught up in the moment... however, upon further review, it's rather nomadic and quite symbolic so I hope we can all agree on that... by the way, "what the name of this song?"

  • woh that sounded like a sweet break!

  • Would have been fantastic to have a sequel for this one... Quite sad Paul Newman is no more..

  • Have you ever seen chinatown, I love paul newman but chinatown ending is so.... roman polandski

  • Que gran película y por supuesto k gran actor. Tom Cruise.

Es mentira. Paul Newman, genial. el mejor

  • Pero vos sos un fprro

  • fast eddie could beat vince...once a hustler is always a hustler..he went up aganst minnisota fats etc and that would be no different.

  • The music at the end is not a song but the actual score of the movie composed by Robbie Robertson. On the soundtrack it is simply labeled "Main Titles".

  • i hope you were joking about this having al pacino.

  • Eddie probably win Vince, one day. Because really Eddie come back and Vince change, now Vince want money and Eddie want to be a best again.

What the name of this song ?

  • I disagree. I think that Fast Eddie Felson could beat Vincent, just like he beat Minnesota Fats in The Hustler (1961), and the only reason why he wouldn't is because he's changed his mind about quitting and has decided to make a comeback. Why beat Vincent and end it all when he can just let him win and make the stakes even bigger next time?

Why do you think he gave him that look when Vincent asks him how he can be so sure he's going to beat him? He's sure because he's already won the game.

  • That little trick when he says Houston instead of Dallas, that's like Forrest Whitaker asking if Eddie thinks he should lose weight. It's to throw off your opponent by giving him the impression that you are out of it some way.

  • What's so anti-climactic about the ending to this film?

Don't you get it? He didn't need to play him, he aleady had. ;)

  • Nobody knows what the name of this song ?

  • what the name of this song play in the end ?

  • That's exactly what I'd like to know. I understand it's part of a score composed by Robbie Robertson (The Band, Bob Dylan) for this movie.

  • just saw it for this first time, and I really loved this movie. Paul Newman was just right.

  • Whenever my dad and I play pool, Whoever breaks first inevitably says "Hey.....I'm back!" before we start. Cracks us up every time.

  • The ending came out of the blue.

    But i still liked it.

  • The point of the ending is this:

Fast Eddie Felson was a well-known pool hustler who had beaten one of the baddest mofos around, so NOBODY was gonna play him for any big money, which is what he needed to retire on. He was getting old, and he wanted to make one last score before he gave it up, so he got this unknown kid (a "stake horse") to play all the big boys for him, so that all he had to do was beat VINCENT, and win all the money!

    Don't you get it? :)

  • I had the soundtrack on cassette (with the ending song) but the damn thing melted on my dash. I liked the ending - the clash between Eddie and Vince will go on forever.

  • knows anybody the song at the end???

  • I can't help you, this info is really hard to find surprisingly! The best I can do is direct you to the IMDB page which has a soundtrack listing.

  • Hey man, you know the name of the song play in the end of THE COLOR OF MONEY ?

  • knows anybody the ending song??

  • "Hey... Sono il più forte"

Paul Newman un grande mito per sempre!

  • Haven't seen the movie, but if that's the ending, I like it.

  • does anyone know what the song is called that starts at the end?

  • Newman!The man is a god!

Cruise was cool in this film as well. perfect cheezy hot head.

  • The longest part 2 to the "Hustler" I have ever witnessed and went out with a bang!!! Rest in Peace Mr. Newman, this movie showcased the common street hustlers to the big time pros now on ESPN, nice transition from the Hustler.

  • I love this movie! God speed Paul Newman...

  • Perfect ending.

Eddie has finally kicked his inner demons.

  • It was a good ending. When I saw this at the cinema I thought the movie was saying 5that Vincent was the perfect pool player - no one could beat him. Ending it at this point was deft. Seeing Vincent beat Eddie would have been an anti climax

  • How is that anticlimactic? I'M BACK! That fuckin rules!!

  • thejobloshow: I think The Departed might be the most successful one financially. Doesnt matter much anyway, I like the The Color of Money better.

  • I always say I would've loved to see the 9 ball drop.

  • it's left to your imagination i think

  • yea I guess so

  • the difference between a very great actor and a nice actor...

  • I'm Back! Hahaha.. I love this movie with a passion.

  • i just love this film..........god rest your soul paul newman you were a true legend!!!!!!!!!

  • agree with you there.

just watching it again now. recorded it the other night.

    Fast Eddy Felson rocks!

  • you gotta be a student of human moves kid!

  • I LOVE this scene!

  • great film with for me the perfect ending. agree totaly with what utSlymJym says. Newman brillent, Scorsese knew a ster when he saw one, the shot of newman in dark tinted glasses covering those famous blue eyes as the camara pan's round him, fantastic. R.I.P

  • The poster of this vid is an idiot. The description is utter nonsense. Life, for these guys is one long long hustle. There is NO climax. "Dont put the money in the bank kid. If I dont get you now, I will get you in Dallas.". What were you expecting????

RIP Paul. Legend. See his face at the end of the clip. When he says "I'm back". Fantastic stuff.

  • Do yourself a favour and read the little description to the right of the video: "However, quite appropriate to the film."

  • I did read it bunty. Did you read my comment properly? My issue is with the word "Anticlimactic" in the descrption. The climax is with the rejuvination of Eddie, he is born again. He has rediscovered his appetite for life and the need to be the best. Note how his appetite for his girlfriend/wife changes. Earlier on, he cannot satisfy her in bed, later, vince visits his hotel room and you can see they have been having a real good time.

  • This film is NOT about money, it is about the COLOUR of money. Subtle huh. Therefore, who wins the $8k does not matter. It is the quest to win that matters, and how that quest affects people. IMO the ending is very climatic in that context. Apologies for the "idiot" on my first response, bad day at work. Please comment, I enjoy healthy intelligent film debate.

  • Paul Newman - One of the finest actors in cinematic history - such charisma, such presence that he injected in his characters so effortlesly which in turn made them iconic. I am extremely pleased that he got to work with arguably the greatest director - Martin Scorsese on what many beleive was his defining role in his great career.

  • The whole film was one of the best 80's films ever...and Paul was phenomenal...he's feeling great this life and all of his accomplishments were all just a warm. common eternity last longer than 83 years..be cool...fast eddie..

  • This might sound lame but it was his time, he lived a good life and was a ripe old man. Theyve got a classy guy in heavin.

  • The Legend won his first Oscar for this. RIP

  • Fast Eddie Felson was one of Paul Newman's greatest roles and I was so happy to see him finally win for Best Actor for The Color of Money. Great performance, a legendary actor, and a true gentlemen. Rest in peace Paul Newman you will be missed.

  • True.. so true

  • RIP Mr. Newman :(

  • RIP, Paul

  • I really enjoyed this ending, for me it just got the complete emotion of Felson's refound form/confidence in a climactic moment symbolized by that powerful break! 10 out of 10.

If you wanted to talk about an anti-climatic ending... the award goes to "No Country for old men."

  • NO. NCFOM was NOT anticlimactic. You just have to understand what's going on.

The climax occured offscreen after Anton killed the wife. The ending is what we like to call a "bookend". It began with a speech about morals and mortality, and ended with a speech about the same subject.

  • ... yada yada bookends yadda yadda.... ncfom has an anti-climactic ending. 'We' like to call that ending stupid. :::rolling eyes:::

  • Back before Tom was assimilated by the Scientology Borg. I wonder how Newman and the other cast members were able to resist?

    Great scene.

  • "I'm back!" Powerful and executed perfectly.

  • What is the name of this ending song?

  • GREAT ENDING !!

  • Moron, Kevin Kline's wife is Phoebe Cates faggot.

  • Anyone who knows the first movie (The Hustler) will understand...Eddie had been forced out of big-time pool by a "stake-horse"

named Burt, played by George C. Scott...when word gets around that you're a hustler, you'll never find a big money game..."I'm back" means that all this was behind Eddie now, and he knew he was one of the best...with character, because that's most important above all else.

  • I think the same way as you do, anyone who watched the hustler can realize what means the phrase *I'm back* Fast Eddie is just... The Leyend!

    :)

  • and whether he won or lost this particular match is beside the point, so anti-climactic? got to disagree.

  • This final is amazing. Suberp, at least.

  • The vid title is grossly exaggerated. On its own, it doesn't seem like much, but watching the entire film gives it more impact. Not the best ending in all of film history, but it was OK.

  • I am not making a qualitative judgment whether it is good or bad - but it is anticlimactic.

  • OK, then make a quantitative judgment.

  • quantitative response: *****

  • "Youth is wasted on the young." Nope that line comes from another movie ("It's a Wonderful Life.") Point is, I am old enough to appreciate the part of the story concerning Eddie, more than Vince.

    "Because I'm back."

Now that is a great last line of a movie. I say at least.

  • Robbie Robertson

  • thanks for uploading this!

  • IT FEELS SO 80S THOUGH I LOVE THE SONG
