I got this great dvd on Amazon A Complete Custom Electric Guitar and there is also a preview on YouTube.Check it out guys its great to watch and shows you step by step how to make your own guitar

i like this alot, i gotta try to make one. have lots a strings. nice pickup method. you might consider(if you still have this) making a board under the top to FREt it. im sure you're on to better things, but keep up the good videos. ill subscribe pronto!! yer the shit! mad geniuses unite

If a persons finger conducts a small current, and the person playing was to place their fingers on two or more strings, would that 'short out' the strings and reduce the signal to the amplifier ?

well, as mentioned in video 1, the string contract a current, and that current is amplified into a sound level.
and as ahe also said, the string should have zero resistance, and there for they are wiried into series.. so if your finger conducts current (wich it wouldnt) it might be a good thiun.. but i t wouldnt make any noticable difference in the quality..

The voltage is very low and the resistance of you skin is high so your fingers don't have much effect on the signal.
