I bought one,and to my surprise there was no Er Jiao!!! and here in the USA it is not that easy to find,so i had to resort to using a kids washable glue sticks and using the dimo it works ok, but it gets very stiff and the sound isn't very good :0(
now it just sits on my flute stand with my other Native American flutes.
I just got a Dizi flute and don't have the mo kong to go between the embouchure and finger-holes. For now can i just block this hole with scotch tape and will the dizi still produce sound? Can one get the mo kong in most music stores?

I would love to buy a dizi from your site, however, my father fears that our credit card will be hacked because the site is from Asia. He claims that it's the #1 spot for hackers... Terribly sorry.
Do you know of any European or North American site that sells these?
i have a stupid question to ask and i hope you can help me with this since i know nothing about music or the flute. but is a chinese flute the same as an regular flute ex the one they use in an orchestra and if not how is it different some one please respond to this question
This was very helpful! I'm taking up dizi again after many years but I'm stuck. When I blow it sounds like I'm breathing heavily; what I mean is, you can hear the notes being played when I play but in the background you can also hear very heavy breath streaming out, like the sound you make when you blow out very hard normally without a flute (think like candles). I'm wondering, is because my embouchure is not tight enough? Also, my throat muscles really hurt after playing, any tips to stop this?
Is the dizi easy to play? I don't want to play it professionally, I mean I've never attempted to play an instrument really, I just want to walk around and play it to myself when there's no one around. Its just so peaceful.
@xoAlecsXo I have the same problem m8 well annoying. Did you buy it from eason? im gunna get a towel and put some force into it if it breaks i will message you not to do that lol
I played as holding 2 holes and 4holes is that correct?? But the music is rite~ I see other peoples play is different fingering same key~ can do explanation?? Thankx~
well i bought something like this, but there is no metal. is it just a different kind? or is it something else??( there is also an extra hole in between the 2 holes at the end and the first finger hole)
hey, well i just bought one of these at a garage sale ( i think) but... it doesn't have any metal on it, it's all wood. there are markings in some sort of asian language. is what i have a dizo, or is it something else(it also has the same amount of holes, exept for one on the bottom near the 2 at the end )
There is something i need to know. Where can you get your dizi repaired? My dimo broke, and now i can't do anything. Feels like life itself just died. Help me pease!
You can see my other video on how to fix the dimo onto the dizi. as for the dimo, just google eason enterprises and you will be directed to our online store.
@Rubyglow57 If you can't find any dimo, you can cut a square from a very thin plastic bag and stick it to your dizi. I do that when I'm travelling to avoid wasting my short supply of dimo. Not as noble but so much better than using tape!
@phalluses Its pretty much sold at all sorts of places (where people actually play the chinese flute), and its really cheap too, i think i break mine like, 2 or 3 times a day if i REALLY practise
I have no musical talent and know nothing about flutes in general. I'm just wondering can you get the same kind of sound from a dizi from a western flute? Or are their sounds completely different.
I do realise that this question may sound stupid but bare in mind I know nothing about the instruments or music.
@Lostfaith1980 I think a big part of why they sound different is that small membrane called the dimo. Also, where the air comes out on a western flute is different I think.
hey! I want to buy a dizi flute... could anyone tell me what I need to know about it? :P I understood the flute is only in 1 key at the time, right? which key should I get the flute in? I've never played the thing before ...
umm i have a dizi but i can only make a low pitch sounds (like the way you did the first time you played ) but how do i make the more high pitch? (like the second time you played it)
I have just bought my flute from ebay, 36p a real bargain :oD I think its such a beautiful sounding instrument I wanted to have a go. Thanks for your lesson, I now feel as though I have the basics and you've done really well to share that in less than 3 minutes, thanks again :oD
It looks like a Dadi lurhh ( a bigger version of the dizi )
Abyway connex It has a VERY clear sound if you use the dimo and the er jiao as for the high notes its VERRRRRY ear piercing and if you use tape then the sound produced would be different
how do you put ur lip on the air hole to make it sound like that. I'm been trying but even if i get a note out of it, there's still alot of wind sound from me blowing on it. Do you blow hard, med or littile?
could someone help me out. i'm looking to buy my first dizi flute. i've heard the popular key's are c,d,f,g. between the c and d key, which is better?
Hi. I bought a simple bamboo dizi but i cant even make sound out of it. I've pasted tissue papers as a substitute for the membrane but still cant make a sound. Why issit?
i can't get a good tone out of the dizi, should i blow stright across the hole or diagonally downwards? also do i need to tighten my lips or relax them?
you say, "don't pull the dizi apart as you may loosen the tubing". does that mean I shouldn't store it in the box it came in since I have to dismantle it into 2 pieces in order to do that? Should I put it together and just leave it together and store it in something else?
a friend gave me a bamboo flue but it didn't have that membrane so I used a piece of clear scotch tape and it seems to do the trick. Thanks for the vids they are SO helpful!

@BEN3233 Yes that is normal. the 7th finger hole is for your pinky. Low pitched dizis usually have that.

Same finger placing but you simply blow abit harder mate.
Its like that with most flutes/tin whistles etc
