  • i got the same

  • I bought one,and to my surprise there was no Er Jiao!!! and here in the USA it is not that easy to find,so i had to resort to using a kids washable glue sticks and using the dimo it works ok, but it gets very stiff and the sound isn't very good :0(

now it just sits on my flute stand with my other Native American flutes.

  • woah great tutorial , Thank you ! btw , whats the song again , ah is it the xiao bai quan or something ?

  • thank you so much for this video! I myself want to learn how to play the dizi flute and this video helped me a lot!

  • I just got a Dizi flute and don't have the mo kong (膜孔) to go between the embouchure and finger-holes. For now can i just block this hole with scotch tape and will the dizi still produce sound? Can one get the mo kong in most music stores?

  • @micheldc70 ebay has some

  • this link is not working,,!!

  • @kakashi77497 it should be fine now. thanks!

  • I would love to buy a dizi from your site, however, my father fears that our credit card will be hacked because the site is from Asia. He claims that it's the #1 spot for hackers... Terribly sorry.

Do you know of any European or North American site that sells these?

  • @MusicAmidstTheTrees Hi, we are from Asia however the payment gateway is through paypal, which is from USA so you can order without any worries.

  • @tansungwah

But my father worries that the hackers are inside of your site itself, not just in paypal.

He is worried that if the information goes through your site, someone may be stealing the information there.

  • Thanks for this tut video.

  • i have a stupid question to ask and i hope you can help me with this since i know nothing about music or the flute. but is a chinese flute the same as an regular flute ex the one they use in an orchestra and if not how is it different some one please respond to this question

  • thank you, this was very helpfull :)

  • hi there :) i just got an alto C dizi flute, but the Dimo didn't come with it. is there anything i could use for the dimo as a replacement?

  • This was very helpful! I'm taking up dizi again after many years but I'm stuck. When I blow it sounds like I'm breathing heavily; what I mean is, you can hear the notes being played when I play but in the background you can also hear very heavy breath streaming out, like the sound you make when you blow out very hard normally without a flute (think like candles). I'm wondering, is because my embouchure is not tight enough? Also, my throat muscles really hurt after playing, any tips to stop this?

  • Is the dizi easy to play? I don't want to play it professionally, I mean I've never attempted to play an instrument really, I just want to walk around and play it to myself when there's no one around. Its just so peaceful.

  • THANKS VERY MUCH!

  • Someone please help. I have a Qu Di Dizi and the coppe tuning is stuck. Anyone know how to fix this? :(

  • @xoAlecsXo I have the same problem m8 well annoying. Did you buy it from eason? im gunna get a towel and put some force into it if it breaks i will message you not to do that lol

  • I wanna ask that my dizi there's 6 holes rite.

Example my score: 2 4 so and so Key-C

    How should I play??

I played as holding 2 holes and 4holes is that correct?? But the music is rite~ I see other peoples play is different fingering same key~ can do explanation?? Thankx~

  • Very Nice video! Thanks!

  • How is the dizi in the key of E i

  • You're a fantastic player! Thanks for the tut! <3

  • I bought a D-key Dizi and I didn't recive any dimo so i used post it (sticky side) instead

  • @izidor536 is it possible to use post stamps?

  • I got a flute in China and I think it's in the key of F and a Bangdi but it's not short...

  • i just got mine in the mail but it wont make any sounds! help!

  • Oo the Flute model is sexayy...

  • crap my fingers hurt D:

  • I'm sorry, but is it possible to play semitones on the dizi? If so, how can we do it?

Sorry for making so may questions at once xD, and thanks for the great performance ^^

  • wonderful of you to share your knowledge with us,

    thanks for sharing ^^

  • well i bought something like this, but there is no metal. is it just a different kind? or is it something else??( there is also an extra hole in between the 2 holes at the end and the first finger hole)

  • hey, well i just bought one of these at a garage sale ( i think) but... it doesn't have any metal on it, it's all wood. there are markings in some sort of asian language. is what i have a dizo, or is it something else(it also has the same amount of holes, exept for one on the bottom near the 2 at the end )

  • you can get Premium Flute Diaphragm at the internet, just google Premium Flute Diaphragm

  • Okay, so i bought a dizi in the key of G and got the dimo but don't have any er jiao. Is there anything i could use as a substitute for it?

  • i cant make a sound on my dizi....i put the dimo on, but it still isnt making a sound. whys that?

  • @prayformercy4 i cant either :( found any help?

  • I bought a G-Key DADI chinese flute a couple days ago. But mine has 1 mouth hole, 1 makong hole and 7 finger hole. Is that normal?

  • @BEN3233 Yes that is normal. the 7th finger hole is for your pinky. Low pitched dizis usually have that.

  • There is something i need to know. Where can you get your dizi repaired? My dimo broke, and now i can't do anything. Feels like life itself just died. Help me pease!

  • You can see my other video on how to fix the dimo onto the dizi. as for the dimo, just google eason enterprises and you will be directed to our online store.

  • thanks. people have told me that ordinary tape will do too, but it is probably not that good, is it?

  • Yes you can still make a sound. But you will not product that distinct dizi tone.

  • @Rubyglow57 If you can't find any dimo, you can cut a square from a very thin plastic bag and stick it to your dizi. I do that when I'm travelling to avoid wasting my short supply of dimo. Not as noble but so much better than using tape!

  • @Rubyglow57 You can buy lots of dizi accessories at our store. Google 'Eason Music' and go to our online store under wind accessories.

  • what is a dimo. where can i get it?

  • I need to know too. Or else, I can never play my dizi again

  • @phalluses Its pretty much sold at all sorts of places (where people actually play the chinese flute), and its really cheap too, i think i break mine like, 2 or 3 times a day if i REALLY practise

  • How come my copper tunning (SH1(D)) cant be pulled out even though i twist outwards it juz goes out by a little tiny bit.

  • I have no musical talent and know nothing about flutes in general. I'm just wondering can you get the same kind of sound from a dizi from a western flute? Or are their sounds completely different.

I do realise that this question may sound stupid but bare in mind I know nothing about the instruments or music.

  • @Lostfaith1980 I think a big part of why they sound different is that small membrane called the dimo. Also, where the air comes out on a western flute is different I think.

  • so what's the difference between the key d and key g ?

  • @phalluses key d should be lower than key g

  • I find it weird that I don't own one of these...

  • hey! I want to buy a dizi flute... could anyone tell me what I need to know about it? :P I understood the flute is only in 1 key at the time, right? which key should I get the flute in? I've never played the thing before ...

    Thanks a lot!

  • You can follow the links on the right to purchase the flute. D key flute will be good to start with.

  • Thanks you so much for the video! Ive been struggling to play through my dizi for a while, and this video was a breakthrough for me!

  • i still can't get it to make any sound CRIES

  • You're very pretty. Do you play the skin flute as well?

  • howcome the first time u play, it sound lower and the second time u play, it sound much higher?

  • how do u know whta kind of dizi u have? what does a beginner dizi looks like?

  • "wow", that was cool!

    Thanks for sharing!=D

  • umm i have a dizi but i can only make a low pitch sounds (like the way you did the first time you played ) but how do i make the more high pitch? (like the second time you played it)

  • Same finger placing but you simply blow abit harder mate.

Its like that with most flutes/tin whistles etc

  • u will get a higher pitch.. takes abit of practice to know how hard to blow for higher octave

  • hi...

which model of the dizi you are using on the video.Plz tell about it i wish to buy one from your shop

  • the song of this flute is great!

  • Comment removed

  • What model is this dizi? It has a lovely sound!

  • Ah good times i remember my music teacher was like this years ago teaching me

  • Woah mines the exact same thing but i had to use ducktape...

  • We sell them and can ship all over the world. Check the info on the right for links.

  • is there any substitute for the Dimo? i can't find them.

  • I read a website which says that scotch tape works well..

  • cant you just use spit instead of the glue thing? cause i do that, and it kinda works.

i luv my bamboo flute though i can play like 3 notes!

  • for hygiene purposes its better not to use spit. besides, the glue thing sticks better!

  • I have just bought my flute from ebay, 36p a real bargain :oD I think its such a beautiful sounding instrument I wanted to have a go. Thanks for your lesson, I now feel as though I have the basics and you've done really well to share that in less than 3 minutes, thanks again :oD

  • oh wow u really good......

  • Great ! thank you for the informations ^^

  • Di zi duoshao qian yi gen?Wo hen xiang mai a. Mai na zhong ne? Zai na li mai?

    How much money a flute?

    Where can I buy it?

  • Go to info

  • It looks like a Dadi lurhh ( a bigger version of the dizi )

Abyway connex It has a VERY clear sound if you use the dimo and the er jiao as for the high notes its VERRRRRY ear piercing and if you use tape then the sound produced would be different

  • Where did u get the dizi? I would like to get one! I checked on amazon and they had some but, idk where I should buy it.

  • Well, look at the description of the video. There are some links that points you to the right place.

  • oh im getting a Chinese Bamboo Flute and im so excited!! thank u 4 posting this now at least i have an idea

  • great video. i am getting a flute soon

  • well, this lass makes it look easy! ha! my dog won't sit in the room with me when i practice.

  • LOL me too! XD

  • thanks thanks for the lesson!!

i got the right way to hold it and the things than i shouldnt do!!

by the way, u are gorgeous!!

    thanks for the help

  • how do you put ur lip on the air hole to make it sound like that. I'm been trying but even if i get a note out of it, there's still alot of wind sound from me blowing on it. Do you blow hard, med or littile?

  • im having the same problem..i cant get a clear sound??

  • This girl is cute <3

  • Dear Ramesh ji,

Have a look on Chinese Flutes. You may like to have them.

  • is D key good for beginners?

  • the hole for C are bigger then D

  • could someone help me out. i'm looking to buy my first dizi flute. i've heard the popular key's are c,d,f,g. between the c and d key, which is better?

  • D should be better.

  • Technically for beginners, it's good to start with a regular G flute. =)

  • I just brought a new DiZi and will learn form you, thanks.

  • thanks, but sadly i have to adjust my mouth to go in tune instead of yours where yours, you can just slide it to tune.

  • Thanks to upload this video. I will play my dizi next month. And you play dizi very well.

  • Hi. I bought a simple bamboo dizi but i cant even make sound out of it. I've pasted tissue papers as a substitute for the membrane but still cant make a sound. Why issit?

  • try scotch tape instead of tissue paper.

  • @tehkimwooi i cant either! any help yet?

  • @muranyiii Did you put the dimo correctly? Try with a tape over the dimo hole first.

  • @tansungwah is it maybe because its missing the copper on the sides? i ordered it off ebay

  • i can't get a good tone out of the dizi, should i blow stright across the hole or diagonally downwards? also do i need to tighten my lips or relax them?

  • you say, "don't pull the dizi apart as you may loosen the tubing". does that mean I shouldn't store it in the box it came in since I have to dismantle it into 2 pieces in order to do that? Should I put it together and just leave it together and store it in something else?

  • Hi, you twist it apart rather than pull it apart.

  • a friend gave me a bamboo flue but it didn't have that membrane so I used a piece of clear scotch tape and it seems to do the trick. Thanks for the vids they are SO helpful!

  • hi !

Thanks for the video ! where do u live in china ? which city ?

  • Hi! We're located in Singapore.

If its not too much of a hassle, do leave a good rating for the video.

    Thanks!

  • thank you for putting up the video. i have been trying to learn how to play the dizi but dont know where to start.

  • wow... that's nice... im trying to learn it myself too...

  • wot key dizi av u got?

  • we've got all keys. please drop me an email

  • great video as usual! I'm happy that I can start playing with the proper technique, because it's always a pain to learn proper technique after months or years of improper technique.

  • Thanks for the video
