  • That rollercoaster was torn down in the early 70's wasn't it? I remember as a kid going by there with my parents. Didn't it sit for some time before being taken down??

  • What a shame to have such a beautiful roller coaster left to decay

  • Wow! Thanks for this. I never new it was there until so recently. I'd had the impression it was all torn down in the 1940s. Thanks for the education. It makes me sad, really.

  • OMGosh, my Grandfather also worked on the Cyclone!

The first time I rode it, 13 times in a row.....

    Miss "the beach"

  • I sat in the parking lot of the night club on the on Wonderland circle and watched it burn.

  • was born in lynn, and spent a LOT of time screaming to my mom and dad to get me on the coaster...i was too little.....i still remember the onion rings and fried clams......playing in the arcade.......

  • Wow! Both of my grandfathers worked construction during the building of the cyclone. My Dad would bring lunch down to his father who worked operating the ride. We where poor grew up on North Shore Rd just behind the cyclone. Every summer night falling asleep listening 2 the distant yelling crowds. The clickety click as the cars crawled up, up the tracks ascending the big rise. Then the big whoosh, screams of delight descending. Next was the fast, hairpin turns. Then all to quickly, it was over.

  • @EFT4MeDebi thanks for the interesting note ...

  • @EFT4MeDebi

It was torn down and rebuilt at another park I think it is in Maryland now.

  • @dolfanatic314 I think you mean the Paragon park coaster. This coaster was torn down which was a shame, it was a wild ride !!

  • @bvgus Yes I was thinking Paragon Park and Nantasket beach

  • @EFT4MeDebi ... how beautiful it'd be for Bostonians to have that nowadays. Thanks for sharing. Vivid.

  • The politicians of which you speak were Democrats, and to this day, they are still bilking you. You people in Mass are idiots.

  • Growing up in Revere, the Cyclone was an important part of the landscape and a symbol that fueled our dreams of life's possibilities. Unfortunately growing up in Revere also meant living with political corruption and shady politicians always on the take, who held no vision of preserving the heritage that was Revere Beach. This beautiful song reflects the sadness and frustration of the Cyclone's demise while asking a bigger question: Why?

  • Wow, this brought back memories! I grew up with this and the amusement park on Revere Beach, but haven't been able to see a pic or view matching my recollections as good as these. This is exactly as it looked, and we just figured it'd be there forever. ...And, yes, also Bob's Discount on the beach! ;)

  • Only 1 theme park remains here in MA... thumbs up if you want to see more.

  • thnx i never would have saw this sucks it closed im 10 it looks fun!

  • Fred Church was an absolute genius when it came to designing rollercoasters. He turned it into an artform -- they are beautiful rides. Even his first coaster was a masterpiece. Does anyone know if the blueprints for this ride still exist? It would be nice to see it rebuilt somewhere.

  • I got to ride the Cyclone four times on two different occasions. I was only 12 years old at the time. It was the best coaster I've ever been on. I was heartbroken to hear it was replaced with condos.. I was hooked but would never ride any that come close and I've been on many. My dad says he rode the "Lightning" before they tore that down. Boy - were we lucky! Thanks for posting. Terrific memories. Does anyone know of any like this one? Please drop me a line. Enjoy and Peace.

  • i loved being a kid in the 70s, east boston ma the "blizzard of 78" seems like yesterday....we would jump of the roofs in to the snow....wow....things we did ...

"the way we were" songs says alot

  • my grandfather was 24 year old carpenter in 1925, he help build the cyclone roller coaster.he would tell me storys of how in 1920s people came from everywhere to see revere beach,"it was like your disney world"he said.he took my father with him to work for the day,he walked those tracks everyday....he loved revere beach in those days. he retired in the 1960s..he past away in the 1970s...miss ya grampa...you and those paper hats... he started going to revere

    beach in 1900"s

  • THANK YOU for posting this video!! I've been waiting for years to see pics of the Revere Beach Cyclone. I remember seeing it in the early 70's when I was only 6 or 7, and to my sadness, never got a chance to ride it.

  • I only saw this coaster one time as a kid and it was from the back window of my parents station wagon as we drove away. I too grew up in the 70's but never got a chance to ride this killer coaster. I rode the Giant at Paragon Park many times but I always regretted not being old enough to ride this one. Both of them are just memories now {the Giant Coaster in now The Wild One at Six Flags Great America} but not forgotten. Thanks for the video, Paneeks

  • Those are THE best photos of the Revere Beach Cyclone I've ever seen. I have been in love with The Cyclone ever since our family would go to Revere Beach in the 50's. On the way home, we would "force" our dad to stop on Ocean Avenue so we could watch a run or two.

I had MANY great rides on the Cyclone and many triceps bruises after my first-ever ride. Learned very quickly not to rest your arms on the sides of the cars. Fantastic first drop was just the start of non-stop thrills.

  • I remember the cyclone, just pass that was Bob's discount. Thanks for sharing nice to see what use to be there, alot of the young kids have no idea! I enjoyed revere beach annd paragon park! thanks god I was able to! cant imagine growing up after the 70's

  • @PARRAVISION thanks for the comments....we always went near opening day for the season....I think it was around easter.....great fun...

  • @manyamile I've only heard stories about this from my parents. I wish I could have been a kid when it was in operation and business was booming. Aerosmith used to play at one of the clubs there around this time, too, I'm pretty sure.

  • It caught on fire and it had been closed for years due to redeveloment, condos

  • Upload more old photos-these are great. I subscribe to your videos now. (i don't really know what that means though, haha)

  • looks like the big dipper! Why did they tear it down?
