What did you use (drummer) to sync up with the music? Everytime I try to do a cover of anything I can't sync the music up right. I don't have Pro Tools or anything but yeah. I thought it may have been my timing so I tried simpler songs that I know for sure I stayed in time for at least 98% of the song and yet I still can't sync it up... HELP MAN!
@thekillingjoke Well its incredibly basic as I don't hav a lot of $ to put into mics&any descent recording programs... so I just use laptop with studio headphones and I set up a camera with recording capability&just play then I use the exact same track I used on the laptop and put into either movie maker/this program I can't remember (sometimes I use desktop which has this other program) anyway and then I just hope for the best to try and line it up with the intro but I never can
@ned2one so you take the recorded drums off the camera audio? As long as it records on a digital format (avi/mpeg... not analog tape) and it has no dropouts the audio should be matchable to the original song. You could try a free software like Audacity to mix the song and your audio. You can align both audios like on millisecond level, and even if there should be dropouts on your drum audio you could do a small cut to the original song to fix that. Then combine your audio mixdown with the video.
The first thing I noticed was that the drums on this song were off, in that they omitted some of the fast bass drumming during the first verse. It's really subtle things like what Carey does with his feet that make him incredibly difficult to duplicate.
@ja524309 you're right. I omitted some double kicks (not only in the 1st verse) consciously. Especially in conjunction with the offset snare ghost notes they are a hard nut to crack. At that time it felt like I had to practice for another year to get those right without getting tense.
@ja524309 bass and guitar are pretty close to what Tool use... a Les Paul silverburst and a Wal bass. The drums (at least the main shellset minus snare) is a Mapex Mars Pro-Set, though. But I've got a Sonor SQ2 in the works, should be ready next month.
Awesome job , love the mandala drums. The only thing wrong with your channel is your Mission Statement , it should be blowing minds throughout the world by covering Tool songs.
this is awesome man, this are the best tool drum covers i've ever seen, and this one its great, I hope you keep recording more songs, thank you very very much, you play the drums in a very awesome way

I just realised. You are probably the greatest drummer on youtube. Or atleast there's a tie between you and "tbartels1".

@thekillingjoke This is still a pretty good cover though, and your respective instruments are pretty legit. What does everyone use?
