TMH were some of the coolest superheroes ever! Even though they were bumblers they never hesitated to respond to the call of duty. I bought a VHS of some of them and once the DVD was available I got them all. Long live TMH!
OMG!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS! I COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT THESE GUYS WERE CALLED SO I COULDN'T DO AN ACCURATE SEARCH BUT WOW IT'S SO GREAT TO SEE THESE GUYS AGAIN. MAKES ME A BIT MISTY CAUSE YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO THE GOOD OLE DAYS NO MATTER HOW DEAR THEY WERE.
All the eps had the same basic plot -- the M.H. find out what evil's afoot and confront it, but at first in an uncoordinated fashion. They end up doing as much damage to each other as the villain (Rope Man accidentally tying up 2-3 other Heroes, Diaper Man klonking Strong Man with an errant bottle, etc.). Once they start working together, the bad guys are defeated withing about 90 sec. Bakshi was paying the bills with this one, but if having it on his resume enabled "Fritz the Cat", s'cool.
Oh wow I haven't seen this since 78, I can't believe I remember this cartoon! I used to get up early Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. I don't know if that still exists?
@chipfitch Man what a blast from the past. I used to live in Worcester, and watched 56 every saturday. My first exposure to Godzilla and Dracula was from CH56. Thanks for the reminder !!
"In philadelphia, the kids choice is...channel 48" (kids singing). Then I would hear this joint, and know my saturday is gonna be me, The mighty herors, and a big ass mixing bowl filled with that fake cpt. Krunch cereal and sugar water. times was much simpler back then.
Backstory: A meteor hit the city of Goodhaven, spewing ET spores that wrought changes in (a few, random) males' DNA. But the pattern of the changes themselves wasn't random -- they were related to the immed. environment of the victim. Likely an adaptive response by the bug. Thus a guy who used heavy tools, etc., became Strongman, a sailor wrangling lines had his body turn ropy, and baby whose intellectual powers were just developing had it hyper-accelerated and gained the power of speech.

I always talk about this show. I ask my wife "do you remember a show with baby man and rope man...tornado man I think?" She doesn't. But now I will show her this, at least so she knows I'm not crazy.
@ladychelle1975 funny you say that, ive been asking everyone in my age group if they remember this and no one has. i was starting to think i imagined the whole thing.
Oh and by the way Super chickens theme song had Nothing on Mighty Mouses theme song which I consider perhaps the best theme song EVER!" Heeeeere I come to save the daaaay!"
Holy crap Thanks for posting this video! I used to watch Mighty Heroes before school when I was a kid on KCOP 13 in L.A.when I was a kid! I couldn't remember the name of the show but could only remember Cuckoo man, but as soon as I saw this video it all came back to me! That intro song is STILL as awesome as I remember too!
Ooooooooooh shit!!! I've ask a lot of dudes my age (34), if they remembered this cartoon, and noone did. It seemed like I was the only person in the country watching this as a kid. Its cool to see there are others. at one point, I thought I imagined this cartoon because no knew about it.
@CementRoots: Wow! I haven't seen this since the 60's. Thanks for posting. And the info you provided was very new to me. Ralph Bakshi worked on the first Spider-Man!?!
one of the all itme coolest cartoons.a classsic alot of people don/t know about.thanks for bringing back memories for me and so many others.the history of how the mighty heroes came to be by their illustrator is a must to research.enjoy everyone!!
And, if you want to hear the WORDS to the theme, listen to the one titled "Might Mouse and The Mighty Heroes!" I had completely forgotten that there WERE words to the theme until I heard that version!
I remember there was a comic book that revealed their origin. All of them, including Diaper Man, gained their powers from a meteor that crashed in Good Haven. This meteor also gave Diaper Man his high IQ and gift of speech.
@StressJudo :I'm sorry, I must disagree. The theme from Super Chicken is much better. That's actually a song. This is a pretty cool instrumental, but I still prefer the SC theme.
I remember watching this around 1966-67...I'm still impressed by the animation-- Very energetic, original, and entertaining! I'd forgotten Ralph Bakshi was responsible.
Wow brings back memories! Would watch this after school in the 1970's and always thought (even then) that it was weird that Rope Man went into his sailor uniform to change.
Hardly anyone remembers this cartoon that I've asked but I remember it fondly :D. I saw the reruns in the 70's and it came on in the mornings before school. I dont remember it being on for a long time though.
This brings back great memories..ranks up there with Superfriends, Challenge of the Superfriends and the newest Justice League cartoons with Supergirl and Stargirl.
Yikes. I guess I could use some brain surgery. He tells HIMSELF that; how funny. Well, he IS Cuckoo Man. I wonder how Diaper Man's parents felt about him being on call 24/7 in order to go out and face bad guys and weirdoes. And I think I'd rather him NOT to ever be alone with Cuckoo Man...
This was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid. It had a rock rhythm to it that no other superhero cartoon had, and I loved the way the heroes kept banging and bumping into each other and tripping each other up while trying to catch the villain, but somehow they always got their man. I also loved the way Part 2 of each cartoon was preceded by still-shot recaps of Part 1, showing the heroes' major moves in freeze-frame. Thanks for bringing them back!
Ralph Bakshi had worked on this serial after a long stint doing work for Terrytoons. He waxed discontent at the Fritz Freling release of "Super Six", which may have copied his idea. He gained fame and notoriety with the productions of Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic, Wizards, Fire and Ice, Lord Of The Rings, and Cool World, etc. He is alleged to have fired an artist based on ethnic discrimination, and the industry never got over the rumor. This is an enjoyable cartoon.

People: Please disregard my remarks I recently posted: these are replies to Zee339 and his weak attempts to try to point out the hypocrisy of the Right while forgetting his OWN party's misdoings.
They are for him (or her) only.
Other than that, LOVE the Mighty Heroes! Watched them on Channel 5 (WNEW) as a little Shawnster and still love em'!
Some things get better with age and cartoons are no exception :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey stupid fuck, way to keep a stale webfight goint. So you don't deny in this statement that the right is a bunch of hypocritical bullshit liars. You are stating that the right is the same as the left. If you didn't have a woodshed style home school education you would realize that neither party is worth two shits and you wouldn't be fueling the problem with your lies, you two faced snake.
The right is the same as the left. The difference is motive and method. After all, don't you want to utterly defeat your opponent politically, so that they can never be a threat? Republicans did it after 1994, and the Democrats are doing it now. It's all part of the political process, and anyone who believes otherwise is a liar or fool.
"THIS IS A VERY LOST AND FORGOTTEN CLASSIC 60's CARTOON...evidently this was NEVER picked up for syndication after it was cancelled around 1968? You can find 'Bootleg' copies floating around...GREAT ARTWORK!
I can hear it now, Kelse Grammer as Rope man, Gilbert Godfreid as Diaper man, Jim Carry as Cuckoo man, Danny Devito as Tornado man, Owen Wilson as Strong man and introducing Bubblegirl.
at 35 years old this is my all time favourite...theme song and all. they should really think about bringing this to cartoon network/boomerang just for us that remember.
I loved this cartoon as a kid, but as an adult the thing I love most about it is the theme song :-) Listen closely to it, and you will notice that the beat moves at twice the speed of the main melody :-) Way cool (from a geek POV)
I love these guys, have for most of my life, I was so pleased, to find one of the cartoons, of my childhood being loved by a new generation, along with other classics, like The Impossibles, Frankenstein Jr.& others, I hope new discoverys of classic cartoons, will continue to be uploaded by fans. Keep posting all the great vidios.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Hey stupid fuck, way to keep a stale webfight goint.

You can find 'Bootleg' copies floating around...GREAT ARTWORK!
videogeekin 3 years ago 2
Mighty Heroes was syndicated as part of the regular Terrytoons package (Mighty Mouse, et al). Problems was not many stations bought them.

I loved this cartoon as a kid. IIRC, Was'nt it apart of the Might Mouse cartoon show?

I loved this cartoon as a kid, but as an adult the thing I love most about it is the theme song :-) Listen closely to it, and you will notice that the beat moves at twice the speed of the main melody :-) Way cool (from a geek POV)
