I climbed this last week, fantastic trip! It is called Hua Shan. This is called the cliff edge path and it costs 30yuan (£3 / $5). What makes it more difficult is that you have to pass people on these ledges because it's not a round trip, you have to go to the end and then back on yourself, takes ~30minutes. Spectacular views!
Hua Mountain is a perfect place for Taoist to seek seclusion and harmonization into the heaven. Most of the pathways were built over 700 years ago. Imagine the ancient people went through the paths had no iron chains to hold onto. The view is stunning, the thrilling hiking experience is more rewarding for those who like challenges. This is a unique place to be!
Fuck chinese and their makings of this scary bullshit... this is the reason why they have small dicks cuz they go places like these and ends up getting a scared turtle on their penis
Thats quite awesome indeed. I would be shitting my pants if I was on top of those wooden paths... not because its wood, but because its Made In China.
For all your information. I was there last month. Had been looking for info all about HuaShan, but no one talked about the queue ! My adivce, if you want to take cable car up (save 4 hrs hike), please go early (before 7.01am). We were late (10am), and there was a queue of 2 hrs ! On the mountain, to walk every single path,to hike every single peak,or just to walk every single step, you need to #@ queue for it !
this is the stuff i want to to so bad! i hate being stuck at home...and since i just graduated im not looking forward to college and a job...i just want to travel and see the world! lol
@SCOOPTALK margoqml is right - it can be a bit scary but it is not terribly dangerous. You are always attached to the rope by two carabinas and holding on to a separate chain. I did this a few weeks ago and it was okay. Scary going up and down but along wasn't too bad at all, and as long as you do the carabinas right you are never detached from the mountain.
@SCOOPTALK I work with climbing equipment on a daily basis and wires and chains, even the thinnest ones, as long as maintained every 10 years or so, make it SAFE. I've seen enough of that route videos/images/stories already and as far as I know, there isn't a part of the path where you're not attached to something. (I'm talking about the bit from 2:00 onwards). Of course I don't know about those wooden planks but as long as you're using your lanyards, you're not going to fall period
First of all, this IS rather safe, maybe except for the icy part, but you use harness and there are chains and wires running along,no way anything can happen to you.Scary- yes,but not really dangerous!
As for comparing to El Camino del Rey in Spain by some- that path is actually damn easy and maybe just a bit scary at the rails, most people are able to do it(it's listed as Grade 1)so no way one compare it to THIS via ferrata.
Finally- the views are amazing! Can't wait till I can afford a trip there!
I wonder about the person that applied to the job description looking for construction workers to build that "side"walk... My goodness, the person that built that...
@AnonaNicole Anona, this reminds me of a story about an adept of high rank who was a friend of the Zen monk, Hakuin. Hakuin said that his friend tried to jump across a very wide canyon, but failed (and died).
The person who Hakuin had related this story to, thought that the masters were infallible, and asked Hakuin how this death could have occurred.
Hakuin replied, "it was a very human thing to do!"
Dude, you are off the chart! My idol. I don't know how you afford this, however, if funds come my way, I will be walking in your footsteps. I admire your ability, agility and stamina.
