  • So incredibly talented.

  • I'm so glad my parents exposed me to Laurel and Hardy at a very young age! Even more glad that my grandfather still kept his 8mm rolls and projector so we could watch their films in a traditional way!

  • If this aint perfection, I don't know what is.

  • Timeless........people will be laughing along with Laurel and Hardy forever :)

  • love the soft-shoe dance mister Jefferson (Read: Stan Laurel) does. Is it a family trait? who knows?

  • isn`t Laurel lok`s like jon tree from chelsea O.o

  • As I said elsewhere Hardy was a genuinely fine singer; quite why the recording companies of the day did not make more use of him is a mystery. Smooth, in tune, passionate, charming and more besides; this is splendid.

  • to jakeelee904>> right on...! I so miss the artistry of the people who "gived a damned!"

  • I love Laurel & hardy:):) beast of comedians:)

  • this is like an early music video...preceding talking heads

  • The best!

  • Ollies got such a great voice.

  • I just love those two..

  • This just has to put a smile on your face.

  • For me this is the BEST version of that song ! ! ! Thank yooooooou Cakeauxnoisettes : !

  • This is my fav version of Harvest Moon. These two sure could prove how talented they were. Too bad we noone like them today.

  • @redhotdiva07 some still do.

  • 2:09 "You're soldiers of the French Foreign Legion! No matter who comes to that gate, you'll stand your ground!"

  • ich vergleiche laurel & hardy mal mit unseren heutigen " comedians ".

theo lingen würde sagen " traurig, traurig, traurig "

  • Oliver had the most beautiful voice!

  • Would that this great artist had made more vocal recordings. A moving and lovely artist. His voice is clearly beautiful and can communicate. What a loss that no recording company "exploited" it. A truly great artist. And I am an opera snob!

  • He and Laurel also made a phonograph record -script by Laurel. It sounded like Laurel was interfering with & finally ruined Hardy's prepared speech !

  • There is nothing wrong with mono - but only using one speaker is a deadly sin.

  • pure gold

  • He said "April" it supposed to be "February"

  • Priceless !!

  • GREAT!!!

  • Comic icons!

  • See what a fine mess you got me into this time!!!!

  • @BritishMovieComedy Sure, but now a days, if the special effects arent good the movie sucks, please dont tell me you think Arnold Schwarzenegger is a good actor? Those guys new how to act, sure the cast in King Kong knew how to act to. Those were the days when we HAD actors.

  • Very good

  • Wonderful....just wonderful

  • Unbelievable that this was made 72 years ago and it's still loved by me and many others :)

  • I was born in the wrong era.

  • Ollie's mother tried to have him train as a professional singer. but he wasn't interested. He sure could sing though. :)

  • @GravelGrunt he sure could this song

  • Gotta love Stan and Ollie.

  • @RichardElden Fucking WANKER!!!

  • @RichardElden Fucking WANKER!!!

  • they were great .. shine on harvest moon up in the sky i've had no loving since january april june or july....

    rob

  • Sadly, these two talented legends would never make it in today's Hollywood. They can sing, dance, act, make people laugh and smile...and today's actors are all a bunch of pretty boys with no talent and over-inflated egos.

  • @jakeelee904 And Hugh Jackman? He do all of that in a ice tea commercial.

  • @jakeelee904

Well said & well put! Plus, the great comedy icons of yesteryear were able to entertain people & make them laugh without having to wallow in the gutter of profanity & sex!

  • @jakeelee904 amen

  • @jakeelee904 You are so correct! Today's and even so called "actors" of 10 or 20 years ago are no talent pretty boys. L& H will live on forever!!!

  • Makes me so happy to just watch these two men..........memory lane

  • Another L & H classic song that should be on soundtrack.

  • ahhh just the ticket in the middle of the NWO

  • :-)

  • When geniuses find each other, the result is always magic.

  • actually i wasnt totally correct there, but he was of english/scottish descent...

  • @anonUK - true, but ollie's parents were british :o))

  • Adorable :3

  • This is the best version of harvest moon I heard so far!

  • @Godskid66 by miles

  • You can see Hardy closely watching Laurel's steps as if he only learnt it the day before.

  • @20meerkat Or, more likely, just enjoying watching Stan working. They both were in vaudeville before going into movies, Ollie at quite an early age.

  • Ollie could sing.

  • Acting, singing, dancing, comedy...they could do it all - superlatively.

  • Pure genius and talent, the best ever.

  • just love laurel and hardy. they have stood the test of time.

  • People today forget that Babe had such a wonderful singing voice.

  • Great stuff, thanks for posting!

  • the fiftys must have been awesome. damn me for being 50 born too late

  • This film was my introduction to them as a kid. Thanks for posting!

  • best of all time. real comedy!!

  • agora já há 4 retardados que não gostam do vídeo...ô gente mal-amada...

  • to good to be real, talent that hope will never be forgotten.

  • so much grace and timing for a 'big' fella!

  • I remember this.......laughed till i cried.....loved em as a kid.

  • Compare this to the offal that passes for "humor" today.

  • 2:14 - 2:18 LOL

  • i watched this in fits of laughter then i burst into tears

  • @irishjanet they are heartbreakingly lovely though! & hilariously so!

  • haha Stan trying to hitch hike a camel!, absolutely one of my favorites, thank you for uploading!

  • Looks like there are 4 assholes now!!

  • amazing, got in my mp3

  • One of the very few acts who are as fresh as they were 70 years ago.

  • Im only 13, and im in love with these to men! They are so funny!

  • I don't understand... shouldn't the 11th Doctor have turned up at 1:23... :P

I love this film as well as all the other Laurel and Hardy films. They should be on TV more often :D

  • Stan is so graceful,, and Ollie has a great voice, immortal comic genius team, along with Marx Bros., Abbott and Costello, 3 Stooges and of course Monty Python

  • he had a lovely voice

  • I love the pure bliss of this video, they don't make such innocent, nice music like this anymore..But it's wonderful to look back on. I remember watching these guys all the time when I was a little girl with my parents and grandparents:)

  • FOUR people don't like this now? what justin beiber fans clicked on this page by mistake?

  • Their the mark of an era, an era that's faded into history. For better or worse. But their's is a legacy that I doubt any modern actor or comedian can come close too. It's a geniune, unique, and funny blend that gives credit to the value of these two men, and their endless dedication to perfecting their art. I stand here in the year 2011 and look back, a 17 year old, and appreciate the talent of these two wonderful actors.

  • @Lieblingsfachful Well said friend. someone once asked me if I could go back in time and meet anyone at all who would it be. I said Stan and Ollie off course.

  • @Lieblingsfachful Well put! You said it! Thanks.

  • the best !!! ollis voice is very very good .

  • great stuff

  • The definitive performance of Shine On.

  • these guys are the best

  • Ollies face when the music changes. Brilliant.

  • Years ago, I wore out a spot on my VHS tape trying to figure out how the band segues from the Persian type music to "Shine on Harvest Moon" Now, with digital technology, all you have to do is click on 0:32.

  • Ha, Ha. Outstanding.

  • I always loved Hardy's singing voice.

  • HE HAD A FINE VOICE ALWAYS. THE WHERE THE BEST!

  • Oliver Hardy was a fantastic singer.

  • Magic

  • those were back in the days when actors had talent...Fcuk special effects, just PURE acting and singing, Talent FTW

  • @williamrtd agree. thank god for Time Warner Classics --- have the opportunity to see the old movies

    daily--

  • Classic comedy ....... no matter how many times you watch these two they still make you laugh. There will never be a double act to beat these Pure Genius

  • What talent! Todays trash can't even image!

  • Ollie had a great voice. I love those guys.

  • -Italian version of the yours name is Stanlio & Ollio.

  • So in time and in tune with each other, musically, comicly, soulfully, wonderfully!

  • i love them! i remember the first time i was watching sons of the desert with my little daughter (now 22). stan and ollie are still walking through generations, great! go to john wayne and oliver hardy. klick the fighting kentuckyan part 1. john and ollie singing a song...

  • Stanley..... Yes Ollie?.....

  • another great L & H classic!!!

  • Stan's so light on his feet! And Ollie singing, I could never tire of listening to that.

  • Racist!!!??!?!? thats the biggest lot of BS I've ever heard! I have watched Laurel and Hardy all of my life and never once have I seen a "racist" episode! WHAT AN IDIOT! Besides, these are films from the twenties, thirties and forties. Everything was very different then.

  • The boys doing what they did best,Ollie singing and Stan giving it the old soft shoe shuffle--and no one did it better. There's another one included in the vids above opposite. check out Ollie singing Lazy moon, and watch Stan.....pure magic.

  • I remember these Englishmen from my childhood and I only regret that the world has changed in such a way that we now lack such wholesome decent entertainment. They were a truly gifted duo that left their mark on the world of artistic comedy. Hats off to the English for giving us Laurel and Hardy!

  • @nterrigno1 Stan Laurel was English and went to America and became a silent screen comic and by chance was paired with Oliver Hardy who was American, so an Anglo-USA double act, not totally English!

  • @nterrigno1

Oliver Hardy was American- he was from Harlem, Georgia.

Stan Laurel was from Ulverston, Lancashire (now in Cumbria), England.

  • @nterrigno1 While Stan is from England, Oliver Hardy was born in Georgia. USA

  • ever greatest!!

  • These guys were comic geniuses.

  • @15waq1e3w2 who you calling fat guy? thats mr hardy to you! lol

  • @15waq1e3w2

Erm, film and audio technology in 1939 were pretty basic. Also, as a comedy, they didn't spend a huge amount on state of the art equipment, unlike, say, Disney who had colour film and were working on stereo sound in the cinema at the time.

    Oh, and compression for youtube.

These sound to me like reasonable excuses, as is the fact that film deteriorates over 70 years or so.

  • I love the cuteness of Laurel, and Hardy's voice is so pure and easy to listen to, especially to this song, it's so pretty~*

  • These guys are my reason for being.

  • @mouseman71 thats pretty sad :O

  • A classic. Thanks for the post.

  • Another classic song and dance routine by the boys in their first film comedy away from Hal Roach.

  • excellent. ive just learnt to play this on the guitar and im very happy :-)

  • Did you capture this on your cell phone?

  • They should be on Dancing With the Stars!!!!!

  • @genia106 Or Strictly Come Dancing.

  • Stan and Ollie were the best ever.

  • thanks, I needed that.

  • who's the one asshole who doesn't like this?

  • @nfnkalyan

    three idiots don't like this.

they're just jealous that they can't sing like Oliver Hardy and dance like Stan Laurel.

comedies today suck compared to this.

  • @Idkwutmyusernameis so does music.

  • @Idkwutmyusernameis To paraphrase Stan, Those who don't like Laurel and Hardy "steals trash!"

  • @penciltest2

    i completely agree!

  • @nfnkalyan that would be me AssHatt

  • @15waq1e3w2 "AssHatt"?

  • @nfnkalyan a hater

  • @nfnkalyan

Well it aint me ,and now there is 4 assholls as of today.

  • @nfnkalyan I don't know his name but he left town when you showed up. :)

  • @nfnkalyan Some low life scum who sells his backside to Russian sailors for a dollar. Thats who!

  • @nfnkalyan This is so class! Just a pleasure to watch REAL entertainers; true MASTERS OF THEIR CRAFT!!!

  • @nfnkalyan - charlie chaplin.... it's jealousy

  • @playgirlc Charles Spencer Chaplin and Arthur Stanley Jefferson, a/k/a Stan Laurel were great friends.

  • @Juliaflo - i know, i still can't stand chaplin though. love laurel and hardy to death though :o))

  • @Juliaflo Chaplin & Laurel were on the same hockey team when they were kids. I saw an old picture of them in Chaplin's autobiography.

  • @bracesix Who knew? Right?

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! L&H were the BEST! This was filmed at the Van Nuys airport in Southern Calif, which can also be seen in the 1942 classic "Casablanca", in the scene where Major Strasser's plane arrives at the local airfield. THANKS for sharing this delightful "blast from the past"! :)

  • Genuinely funny people. Not just people trying to be funny. They'd never get in "the door" in Hollywood these days. Stan Laurel was as kind and gracious as he was talented. I'm sorry that I never met Mr. Hardy.

  • SHAME THIS IS ONE EAR SOUND
