Mm, thing is of course that Widdicombe is not spelt Widdicombe but Widecombe, at least the Widecombe-in-the-Moor I know in the Webburn valley on Dartmoor is. And it still has a traditional Fair annually. Sorry to spoil the party!
First of all my name is Tom Peirce --USA----my grandpa came from Ramsgate in 1887. This song was sung to me over and over again inpart upon my first trpi to Ashford, Kent in 1984. And it was unique and a treat to hear. Great job on this here. Just now realized that my trip was nearly 100 years from the year my grandpa traveled FROM England.
Love this... it made me laugh out loud and wake my dozing hubby up.. tee hee... the accents too are really good too... West Country?? and maybe a little bit of cockney too..'Arry 'Awk'... Love it.. :0)x
I remember sitting up in the galleries of the Birmingham Symphony Hall in the national youth choirs gala concert and listening to them perform this! Thank god for being in training choir!
