Yes, in the old law the penalty for killing a fetus was different from killing a woman, but the penalty for killing a woman was also different from killing a man and was closer in severity to killing livestock.
So, my point is: if you think the punishment now for killing a woman should be the same as for killing a cow, then the argument stands. If however you think killing is killing no matter what, and the Bible calls abortion KILLING a fetus, then the Bible does have a stand against abortion.

When a women's health is at risk then yeah I can understand why you would resort to having an abortion - I feel that I or others should't have the right to make the decision for or criticise somebody in a situation like that. But you can't market abortion as a good thing, it has profound effects on different people and it can be traumatising in certain cases, even as traumatising as a miscarriage. Nobody should think of abortion as a good thing - only as a last resort to protect your health.

Yes, in the old law the penalty for killing a fetus was different from killing a woman, but the penalty for killing a woman was also different from killing a man and was closer in severity to killing livestock.
So, my point is: if you think the punishment now for killing a woman should be the same as for killing a cow, then the argument stands. If however you think killing is killing no matter what, and the Bible calls abortion KILLING a fetus, then the Bible does have a stand against abortion.

When a women's health is at risk then yeah I can understand why you would resort to having an abortion - I feel that I or others should't have the right to make the decision for or criticise somebody in a situation like that. But you can't market abortion as a good thing, it has profound effects on different people and it can be traumatising in certain cases, even as traumatising as a miscarriage. Nobody should think of abortion as a good thing - only as a last resort to protect your health.
