i know palakkad is in kerala, but the ayyars in palakkad (like balan's family) have tamil as their first language, not malayalam.

btw i'm a palghat iyer and i say i am a tamilan from kerela . I never say i'm malayali cos i'm not. Malayalam is not my first language thts why. I speak tamil with a malayalee accent/malyali touches but i know i am a tamilan and noone can say i'm not!
