And she would tell me, "why don't you just stay with me" And I remeber her saying about grandpa, "Lord he moves so slow, supper be on the table an 1/2 hour ago" I have never hurd a song that would bring so many child hood memories,like this song..Every time I here it it takes me back to Amarillo,Texas 1961..I even spilt cherry coke on my new cowboy cloths. My Grandpa built there own house and rased cow. He worked hard every day..I love him & miss him very much..Thanks James McMurtry
This song reminds me when I was a kid, My grandmother would take me to the beautyshop with her, and tell me to lock my doors we are going thur nigger town, and she would say that, "that is not what we are supost to call them that anymore," When we would get there,she would also say to me "you can come inside or just set in the car" And she would also tell me that "no you can't go with grandpa today, there are shipping cows and you will just be in the way" And she would tell me
