  • The overall concept isnt bad but it's too overcomplicated, too expensive and too, too much heavy

  • @UncleFester84 how is this an overcomplicated design? It hardly has any instruments, is small and has a basic piston engine. If you think this is overcomplicated.. then flying is not for you

  • looks like hes jacking off at1:17

  • if yougive me one i will die happy

  • Matthew is my Name

  • This is how Robertson Helicopters started out. Start small and built your market share. To bad the economy is not ready for this kind of plane. I hope they make a go if it.

  • The aircraft is an overpriced joke. no range, heavy, and a panel for toddlers...not pilots. There are several better options out there. The Mermaid and SeaMax are Both better aircraft...so is a SeaRay for that matter and you can get all of those and others Today.

  • Any PILOTS out there that see this as stupid as me?

  • @blackhd92 no, ur old fashioned

  • You can't have the gears and the automatic wing folds together? That sucks!!! Why can't they put a bigger or better engine in it for the added weight? I thought THIS LSA was perfect. Anyhoo, I would still buy one if I was rich.

  • yo quiero 1!!!!!!!

  • i would take this thing to the caribean and fly from islands too island with my girl are child in the passenger seat that would be awesome. i wonder if it have cd player are sum like that.

  • Que lastima que no esta subtitulado en español.

  • 1 parachute. what would happen to second passenger????

  • @sk8boysproduction for the plane, not for the pilots

  • The parachute is for the plane itself, not the passengers... It's meant to be deployed if there is catastrophic engine failure or something; or even if like a bird damages the wing(s) and the aircraft cant land. The parachute supports the entire plain with its passenger in an emergency vertical 'landing'

  • Why didn't they think about a family version and instead of 300nm, why not 600nm or even a 1000nm? Do they really think, I want to send my family through body scanners manned by failed catholic priests?

  • @tribexa you seem confused about what this plane is DESIGNED to do. 300 mile range is plenty for its intended purpose.

As they have pointed out many times, this a a SPORT plane that is designed to be a fun toy on the weekend. You wouldn't buy a jet ski and complain because your whole family can't ride it to Hawaii.

There are many airplanes you can buy that will take your family 1000 miles or more... just not this one. Whats that? a private jet is too expensive? see you in the TSA line:-(

  • I would like to see an amphibious 4 seater with retracts and automatic wingfold ICON A5 but with a cessna engine or something and have 4 big guys in it, full fuel and still be able to carry at least 5kg luggage each, maybe a much larger engine, possibly constant speed prop engine.

  • Yeah I hope if the 2 seater sells strong ICON will build a 4 seater version.

  • i think they should have made it a 4 seater. much more useful. i know they are marketing it as a light sport. but i would love to have auto wing fold with the retracts. and enough room to take my family on. maybe after this thing actually gets to market they will look into making a 4 seater. i do like the trailering feature tho. big bonus

  • I doubt they can have retractable gear fitted and have any useful load left, it looks very underpowered now, flying on the edge of stall all the time,

good luck with those deposits, hope they pull it off

  • I'd go with the manual folding wings and the amphibious landing option.

  • Beautiful plane...but they need to make it about 100 lbs lighter and 50k cheaper in order to make it marketable.

  • If it goes into mass production and finds some competition, that could very well be a possibility!

  • Gross weight on an amphib LSA is 1430lbs. He's saying empty weight will be about 1000lbs. If they can actually pull that off I'll be pretty impressed.

  • Do anything but gush mindlessly in Icon's comments box,and you will be deleted.

It needs someone to hold it upright on the water, has the patented Colyear Freedom Killer Canopy, is unproven laden with folding mechanism, landing gear, that attractive interior, etc.

Yes, it is a gorgeous work of art. But, until OSH it was as if the Icon was being hidden from pilots.

With the basic Mermaid priced at $150+ if this thing is produced before 2012 or for less than $180K,I'll kiss a pig.

    Censor that.

  • I think it's gonna need more power than a Rotax

  • nice but little bit expensive

if the price drop down to 85k i would buy it

  • i dont like it

  • Distracting the way he is holing that stick!

  • Very cool aircraft.

  • pretty neat!
