Uh...yes. And the SR71 Blackbird is also a real jet, and it really is the record holder for the fastest and highest flight. The X-jet Blackbird was designed and named for the real one. So, it wasn't necessarily a reference to X-men, just the actual aircraft.

That was not really flying. That was being launched by rockets. This was the first time he was in control.

Launching- Taking off into the air.

Launching only applies to the first part. Flying applies to the rest even moreso when he was in control of his movement.
