Is the sidearm method, that used by the Balearic Slingers? They were very famous in ancient times for their effectiveness. They even used lead shot -> more dense = smaller and less air resistance for the same mass.

i just took a pieace of rope and i cut it and half and i took a pieace of rope of an old t shirr and i tied the 2 pieaces of rope to it and it works great

Which technique do you use for maximum distance?

From what I heard the overhand one is the best for maximum distance and the sidearm and underhand are better for close distances and probably done a little faster (like when the enemy is close, you are desperate and need to hit fast and run).

Does the swinging around, at first, actually do anything? I've seen other videos where they just swing and release.

the first revolutions are very frequent among the slingers, and are useful for accuracy to get concentration on the target.

@busterpiggle I read that underarm one could be used for rapid fire from high ground forts. No swinging around, rock is held out and sling wraps around it, returns to hand, next rock thrown.

1. Shot in sling, held out front.

2. Underarm throw.

3. Heavy knot swings up from the ground.

4. Sling catches at next rock held at arms length, heavy knot caught in throwing hand.

5. Next shot thrown without skipping a beat.

I made my first sling yesterday. Today I said to my cousin i CAN MAKE A ROCK GO FARTHER THAN U. He throws a rock and grins I take out my sling...ZIIIIIP He was like :O
