  • I see no reason why the lukumi in cuba will have sentiment with Yoruba There the same people with different exprience. This is tradition that the Yoruba brought along with them when the left homeland please let keep the spirit of our ancestor and we are very greatful for our people in Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad and many other places in outside Africa for keeping Orisha alive Orisa will honour you people Thank Aboru Boye o Orisha a agbe wa Ase

  • Beautiful video!!! AXE'!!! :)

  • I loved this video, because it shows that oshun is the ayaba most important in the life. I want the phone number of your oluwo

  • Unfortunately there is too much prejudice in the LUCUMI community, not only about Afrocentric influence. But, also about anyone going to Africa and doing their IDOSU ORISA or ITEFA in Nigeria. Alot of people like myself who were in the lucumi tradition, became disappointed. With making LUCUMI a "SPANISH THING," and not a African religion that survive the trans-atlantic trip. I met alot of well talented babalocha and iyalocha in lucumi.

  • I really don't appreciate the point of departure between Lukumi (lucumi) and Yoruba religion. I expect the two to compliment each other: the yoruba as the senior brother and lukumi as junior brother of the same mother. Lukumi have indeed kept the yoruba religion alive and well in the West and they must be commended for that. I understand how they may feel when people who were initiated in Nigeria return to act as if their orisa is superior. It is not! Irumole is the same every where. Ire o.

  • Yeye Siju Osunyemi,

Aboru, aboye, abosise'. Thank you for sharing your initiation. I was initiated 9 years ago in the priesthood. I have been told, that I am a daughter of Oshun. I am searching, in all earnest for IFA, ORISHA AND EGUN. It is 3:53 am and I just came upon your video. I will be contacting you. Thank you.

  • This video touched me so much. I am omo Oshun initiated in the Lukumi tradition and I have a deep connection to Nigeria. I am not sure what it all means for me but thank you for allowing us to share in your experience.

  • aboru, aboye, abosise

we are all emerging from the trauma of the Maafa. We must practice love and understanding and inclusiveness. We are all in this together.

    Osunyemi

  • ashe yeye we need to overcome that division that is forming ifa is not bout that its about what wedo n who we r on earth so that we live good in the other side side by side to our eggun n orisha at da feet of olodumare this nonsense goin on is not OK so the elders need to teach the youth right so we n our children dont live this way

  • I can go on and on with other comments that were very offensive to me and my Ile, made by many African Americans, initated in Africa. As long as we continue to poke and insult each other, we will never evolve to the next spiritual plateau that Orisa want us to as a collective of devotees. We must stop this and educate EACH OTHER. And PUSH this tradition to the forefront of humanity. Just my two cents.

  • pero ademas de eso ,,,los artistas de teatro y los bailarnes en cuba son religiosos ?porque me parecen solamente trabajadores...

  • I was initiated as a priest of Esu-Elegbara in the Lukumi tradition. However, my god-parents, who are African American have taught me to have respect for how we worship in our tradition as well as what is practiced in the motherland. So many want Lukumi to be a "spanish" tradition in order to hide BLACK Africa. But as my Baba says, we are not a guest in our religion. As Orisa devotees we need to be united and not divided regardless of our approach to Orisa worship.

  • Aboru, Aboye, Abosise

    we must unite!

    Yeye Siju Osunyemi

  • wow. i am shocked by the ignorant comments that these folks have made. they see one little short video and they think they've seen all that we do in west african orisa practice.

  • It is amazing how aggressive also. They don't seem to be aware of how much self hatred we must over come in order to look at our roots in Africa. They are in a competition mode; light skin against dark, the diaspora against Africa. None of that is study of self, and a path toward healing and wholeness; which is what i try to represent in my video's. I don't say this is the only way. It is just the way home to Osun as I have discovered it.

    Aboru, Aboye, Abosise

    Yeye Siju Osunyemi

  • Yeye, keep doing what you are doing in West African Orisa Tradition. Those folks that are the most antagonistic are already trying to get what we have anyway. And they missed the point entirely...we are all children of the same place. Orisa tradition came from West Africa. And of course praise must be given to Cuba for its ability to market culture.

  • Ase and thank you for speaking the language and being able to explain to those who speak Spanish what i am doing and what us coming together in peace and love is about....it's about a future for our families...so we can live with respect for each other, get healed and make a new world!

    Osunyemi

  • your mistake here is the word market culture. There's never been any african culture that is been traded with it's only some ignorants that don't know their roots.

  • Aboru, Aboye, Abosise

If there begins to be language of disrespect for one another.....I will stop allowing comments. We are all ignorant and have much to learn until we die.

Let us come together to help each other learn.

    thank you.

    Yeye Siju Osunyemi

  • I know you are shocked by the agressiveness of many here. But, in defense of my Lukumi brothers and sisters, I have personaly run into many African Americans who have been initiated in Africa, and they come back and make a blatant point on trying to disrespect those of us who were initiated in Lukumi. I had a now former friend was actually initiated by Chief Atanda tell me that "my orisa weren't shit" because of how I was initiated and that my initiation an Esu were fake.

  • aboru, aboye,

we must forgive the ignorant. this person was not repeating something out of Chief Atanda's mouth. Sometimes our own insecurities cause us to put others down...thinking we make ourselves more. yes we must love and forgive each other. we have been through a might force of brainwashing...training us to hate ourselves and each other. so we must love..starting here.

    much orisa love to you

    Yeye Siju Osunyemi

  • Aboru! Aboye! Much love to you Osun Yemi! There need to be more devotees with the same iwa pele that you constantly manifest on this site. Your information and insight is much appreciated and I am thankful to you for bringing us a piece of Iya Mi Osun and the unconditional love that she radiates!

  • you are rigth,,, sorry iam a litter confuse , but try to understand me to please , is difecult for me see another, people dance the music of my religion ,and we talk diferente to, but i say thanks namibia , for give as a litter part of your religion, aboru, aboya, ibbosese

    osunyemi

  • is not the same , we feel that realy inside , and for that we can make it better , because thats here looks like a big show for white people, and the soul is not inside they[ i hop the you understund my english because inst good.

  • You yourself are judging from outside. This is not a competition. I hope you can understand that we must love each other not act out the slave masters programming for us to fight and compete with each other.

    aboru, aboye, abosise

Yeye Siju Osunyemi priestess of Osun

  • and music to , in cuba sorry.

  • blessings?

sometimes our ignorace shows in the comments we make. There is no comparison of best for better. One is related to the other that is all. It is the same Orisa.

    Osunyemi

  • i think the in the dance , the best people are in cuba.

  • Now this has got to be the most ignorant statement I have read to date. Apparently you have never seen a full bata dance presentation and this video does little to show the dance of the Yoruba. Mind you, many of the dance movements in Cuba are based off of similar movements in Yorubaland. Do your research before you make ignorant statements like that.

  • "aboru""abosese"you're not trying to tell the truth you are showing the truth and the real yoruba way of practicing the religion !!!!blessings!!!!odabo

  • aboru, aboye, abosise

    thank you.

    osunyemi

  • aboru, aboye, abosise

thank you. just trying to tell the truth.

    Osunyemi

  • very informative video real youruba people congratulations osunyemi!!!!ore yeye oo!!!!

  • It is somewhat short and not totally representative of the secret initiation process. All in all, it is interesting.

  • In Osogbo they only take you to the river to initiate?

No odo, osun, ashe, ile, or ebo eje? You were given no igba or dilogun Oshun? You were never an Iyawo?

I mean no disrespect; just curious as to how those Oloshas in Osogbo can claim a simple bath in the river replaces the entire process of kariosha and Osayin.

    Respectfully,

    Ogun Funmito

    Oni Yemoja Ashaba

  • I guess the Lukumi has a different way of doing things. So you add Odo, osun, ashe, ile or ebo eje to your initiation and you think yours in more complete that what is obtainable in Osogbo.

  • Nowhere did I say Lukumi is "more complete."

  • Well, it was insinuated. Furthermore if you had taken the time to see the clip before this one you will see that the initiates underwent other ceremonies in private before the visit to the river. Beyond that, it is not proper for a member of one Orisa cult to question, in public, the initiation rites of another. May all the good forces of Ogun and Yemoja be with you, Ase.

  • I actually looked for part one and couldn't find it; that's what prompted my questions. And I also said I didn't mean any disrespect; I insinuated nothing.

    Peace,

    Jim

  • they never claimed that!
