Forget about the disclosure by the Advocate General in the honourable high court of Kerala that even if the dam breaks the water would be accomodated by the Idukki reservoir, forget about the opinion given by the experts commitee appointed by the Supreme court that the dam is safe, if at all the dam breaks would the water stored in the reservoir recede back to Kerala or flow into Tamilnadu. Where on earth. the water stored in a reservoir go back to the catchment area in the event of a collapse

@antosteaphen Idukki itself was not a part of Travancore Kingdom during the Treaty/Lease deed. Check the history. Until 12th Century the area was with the Pandya Empire & then it was with the Poonjaar Kings (as a Pooniaru Tamil Territory of Chera Empire) and at the time of the Lease Deed it was a under the control of Pooniaru Thambiran and NOT the King of Travancore. The British mistook Pooniaru Kingdom as being controlled by Travancore Kingdom and the Lease Deed was signed. Lucky u got Idukki!

If the mullaperiyar dam breaks it is not the volume of water that is going to flow into the Idduki dam but also the debris and force of flowing water.
The Mullaperiyar dam is situated above the Idduki dam. By raising the level of water in Mullaperiyar dam, besides the risk of the dam collapse there is submergence of land which is rich in wildlife. It may even lead to the death of several endangered species. The Karnataka government has banned night travel in the Bandipur forest to protect the wildlife. Who will protect these creatures.?
Some one was talking that Tamil is an official language in countries while malayalam is not. It could be due to two reasons 1. Tamilians have abundantly resided in those countries. 2. The river channel between Idukki and Mullai Periyar is in hills valley which is 300-500 feet lower than the living areas of Periyar river bank. let me put my points (geographical) If Mullaiperiyar dam is collapsed (incase) the water from this dam will flow only towards the valley region...and reach the Idukki Dam (7 times bigger) which is situated in 58 KMS, which has the capacity of 70 TMC where as Mullaiperiyar’s capacity is 10.5. Also the human habitation is situated above the Muallaiperiyar dam’s height.

Forget about the disclosure by the Advocate General in the honourable high court of Kerala that even if the dam breaks the water would be accomodated by the Idukki reservoir, forget about the opinion given by the experts commitee appointed by the Supreme court that the dam is safe, if at all the dam breaks would the water stored in the reservoir recede back to Kerala or flow into Tamilnadu. Where on earth. the water stored in a reservoir go back to the catchment area in the event of a collapse

@antosteaphen Idukki itself was not a part of Travancore Kingdom during the Treaty/Lease deed. Check the history. Until 12th Century the area was with the Pandya Empire & then it was with the Poonjaar Kings (as a Pooniaru Tamil Territory of Chera Empire) and at the time of the Lease Deed it was a under the control of Pooniaru Thambiran and NOT the King of Travancore. The British mistook Pooniaru Kingdom as being controlled by Travancore Kingdom and the Lease Deed was signed. Lucky u got Idukki!

It may even lead to the death of several endangered species. The Karnataka government has banned night travel in the Bandipur forest to protect the wildlife. Who will protect these creatures.?

Every state has it's own advantages and disadvantages as bestowed by nature. Kerala is blessed with water, while states like Tamil Nadu is blessed by abundant land which is fertile for crops. Each place has the right to use it's resources judiciously. Idduki is an integral part of Kerala though a lot of Tamil people have migrated to live and earn. It is foolish to claim Iddukki as part of Tamilnadu because some people from Tamilnadu have live there. Remember Srilanka.

Kallanai was built in the year of 350 (A,D) in Trichy and still it is strong. We need maintenance for all the buildings and dams. In UAE, only your people can go and work. The river channel between Idukki and Mullai Periyar is in hills valley which is 300-500 feet lower than the living areas of Periyar river bank. See the Google earth in 3D and watch the path of river which goes from Mullai Periyar Dam to Idukki Dam. When mullaperiyar breaks down, it won't affect just mullaperiyar, the impulsive water force carrying large amount of mud and other particles in its way will cause Idukki dam to collapse also. and there will be a chain reaction causing many dams nearby to breakdown within hours. The sea level of Muallaiperiyar dam is 2864 ft. Whereas the nearby human habitations like Kumuli is in 3100 ft above the sea level. Pambanar is in 4402 ft, Elaparai is in 3648 ft, vallaram Kunnu 3422 ft, Pulmedu 3583 ft and Vandiperiyr at 3400 ft…. now are you going to say that the water will flow to upwards??? Unacceptable sir…

let me put my points (geographical) If Mullaiperiyar dam is collapsed (incase) the water from this dam will flow only towards the valley region...and reach the Idukki Dam (7 times bigger) which is situated in 58 KMS, which has the capacity of 70 TMC where as Mullaiperiyar’s capacity is 10.5. Also the human habitation is situated above the Muallaiperiyar dam’s height.
