At least the swimmers and divers of the U.S. saved the day for the U.S. team. Without such a record medal haul (31 total) the U.S. could have fallen down to second or third place. Most of the other American teams failed to impress and match their expectations, track and field especially. Baseball & Softball (2 sports where the U.S. does well) are eliminated from the games for 2012 and even permanently) & improved competition in other sports will likely drop the U.S. from the top in 2012.
