This was originally telecast as a "special" episode of "SHINDIG!" on November 18, 1965, just as "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" was being released to theaters nationwide. Incidentally, the girls were forbidden by ABC to actually wear bikinis during the telecast, so they're wearing "short shorts" and brief tops instead. The omitted commercials were just as hilarious!
This was available as an extra in an old Vincent Price/AIP DVD box set. My understanding, "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" was originally supposed to be a musical. The numbers were cut. At least one of them seems to have ended up in this special. This must be the reason for that God awful chase sequence. I think that chase sequence has to last at *least* 20 mins, and it's not even that funny.
This entire special is available as an extra on the DVD "Vincent Price - The Sinster Edge." It also contains an interview with Vincent Price by David Del Valle.
Great stuff! Lembeck's dance / song is tops! The original movie was to be a musical perhaps these songs were originally intended for the film?
