1. In Flames do what they want, that's all... Their music has change, everybody is alright with it, they tried to make something different, and the 1st reason of it is because Stormblad left the band, and he was the composer of many In flames songs.

I think the new album is heavier than other albums, because it's heavy in ways the other albums are NOT. The other albums are mostly balls to the wall, sure, but this album, and every other, has its own unique brand of heaviness. Every song is something different, but still undeniably In Flames, and every song has such a deep seeded GROOVE that is entirely indisputable. I can't help but headbang to these songs, even if they're not from The Jester Race or Lunar Strain. They're still badass!
The F*** are people bitching about this stuff is great! In flames has been playing in this style since the album Colony. Only their first 3 albums were "hardcore" metal. Since then the later majority of their music has been of this style and personally I love it.

I love the newer in flames, I have every album from them except this one buy going to get it soon. Their music has simply evolved, probably in line with them maturing and getting less "angry". I hear a lot of comments about how they arnt as 'brutal' as before etc etc, personaly I think this is their best album yet! it hasnt left my car stereo since the day I got it. I loved their old stuff when I was younger and 'angrier' and wanted heavy heavy shit but now I'm older and although I still love my heavy/death metal I dont want it all the time, I want music I can sit back and appreciate and thats what In Flames is for me, music to be appreciated.

When I heard the first song Sounds of a playground fading that is. I thought this song is prob the best song in this album. Then I listend to some other song and thought omg this is amazing to and then I heared A New Dawn and thought this IS the best song in this album. and still havent heard every songs :P

I really like this band. I had never heard of them till this album came out. I saw the album and listened to the sampler of it. The singer has a great voice and the music is very well thought out.
1, Yes In Flames is doing new things, yes they sound like pussies compared to their old hardcore selves, get over it, if they wanted to, theyd come out with something harder than you've ever heard from them

They've grown an added a new level to their music so that they aren't just like every lame, screamy band that only does one thing and fails to develop throughout the years. Sounds of a Playground Fading and Deliver Us are fantastic tracks that are driving and powerful, with fantastic lyrics and music that go together perfectly. Other songs explore different areas and that needs to be respected.

I have been listening to this CD for the past 3 days, I have been a fan of In Flames for a very long time. I love their stuff, and this new Music they have is a great addition to their talented history. Although I must admit I was a bit apprehensive at first. That quickly faded into appreciation after the first time I heard the full CD. In Flames has been and will remain to be one of my favorite bands.
This Album you stupid "Fans" who want to listen to the same style for 12 years has the greatest solos ever composed by In Flames. If you tell me December Flower & Suburban Me, they weren't written by In Flames.
Sounds of a Playground Fading is by most, one of the best albums released by In Flames.

I like this album the best. It's melodic. I didn't like the early In Flames, they have good songs on all of their old albums, don't get me wrong, but this is the only album which has absolutely NO songs I just turn off. They put a lot more work into ALL of their songs this time. It's still metal and they got their signature sound. My opinion.

Songs are stupidly simple and predictable. Anders can't scream worth crap anymore. Get rid of him, speed up the tempos a little, add more solos, and bring back the "mid-evil" sounding melodies.

@sketchomania Change is good, at least to some degree. Its boring when a band puts out the same album time and time again. HOWEVER, when a band starts making drastic changes to the style they are bound to get mixed reviews. A band that writes complex / energetic music can't just start writing slow / simple music. Thats NOT progress. Progress would have been in IF started incorporating in some Black-Metal, Folk Metal.....SOMETHING that isn't simple.
I wouldn't say this album is as good as their previous albums. Though I can't call any single song by In Flames 'bad'. Imo; there are just fewer ear-catching songs lately (so-to-speak) Still love the band.

To me In Flames still has their unique "In Flames" sound in this album but they have blended multiple influences from previous albums while also changing. When you play so long I'm sure it's nice to try different things and see how they sound. They aren't as brutal as in the early days but their music has matured at the same pace that they have. So I think the album was well done.
The new album is incredible and I love the way the band are progressing. If anyone says otherwise, i don't really care and clearly you aren't true In Flames fans or Melodic Death Metal fans for that matter!
Pre-order the deluxe edition, got it on day of release (today :3) and sat down and just listened to the entire album. My god. They have outdone themselves. It makes me proud to be a jesterhead they did so well.
Just bought the album on I-Tunes. Great piece of work!!! I always loved In Flames old or new doesn't matter to me. I strongly suggest to purchase that album if you love this mighty band. My favorites are "Sounds of a playground fading", "Fear is the weakness" and "Ropes".

I hear a lot of comments about how they arnt as 'brutal' as before etc etc, personaly I think this is their best album yet! it hasnt left my car stereo since the day I got it. I loved their old stuff when I was younger and 'angrier' and wanted heavy heavy shit but now I'm older and although I still love my heavy/death metal I dont want it all the time, I want music I can sit back and appreciate and thats what In Flames is for me, music to be appreciated.

this album is so great. in my opinion maybe the best album they ever made so far.
When I heard the first song Sounds of a playground fading that is. I thought this song is prob the best song in this album. Then I listend to some other song and thought omg this is amazing to and then I heared A New Dawn and thought this IS the best song in this album. and still havent heard every songs :P
and I ordered this album yesterday, cant wait for putting it in to my hifi system. thats gonna be amazing:)

I really like this band. I had never heard of them till this album came out. I saw the album and listened to the sampler of it. The singer has a great voice and the music is very well thought out.

1, Yes In Flames is doing new things, yes they sound like pussies compared to their old hardcore selves, get over it, if they wanted to, theyd come out with something harder than you've ever heard from them
2. If you want the old In Flames back, go buy all their old albums, and never come back to bitch at the new In Flames, theyre musicians, not slaves to the masses, theyre trying to make their statement and obviously like the direction theyve been heading

@999storm999 I think saying they "sound like pussies" is completely inaccurate. They've grown an added a new level to their music so that they aren't just like every lame, screamy band that only does one thing and fails to develop throughout the years. Sounds of a Playground Fading and Deliver Us are fantastic tracks that are driving and powerful, with fantastic lyrics and music that go together perfectly. Other songs explore different areas and that needs to be respected.

I have been listening to this CD for the past 3 days, I have been a fan of In Flames for a very long time. I love their stuff, and this new Music they have is a great addition to their talented history. Although I must admit I was a bit apprehensive at first. That quickly faded into appreciation after the first time I heard the full CD. In Flames has been and will remain to be one of my favorite bands.

I like this album the best. It's melodic. I didn't like the early In Flames, they have good songs on all of their old albums, don't get me wrong, but this is the only album which has absolutely NO songs I just turn off. They put a lot more work into ALL of their songs this time. It's still metal and they got their signature sound. My opinion.

Ok, I am getting very aggravated by all these thumbed up comments about how metalheads are ignorant, or sad excuses of human beings, or have low intelligence blah, blah. Lets not forget this band have been going for nearly 20 yrs, yes their music has changed, becuase if the music had stayed the same as their stuff in the 90's then it would sound very dated by todays standards. If you don't like the music anymore, drop it. It isn't the same style you jumped on board with, and if you aren't open to more kinds of music then o well. Don't tell everyone you hate it. If the band was a complete sell out, then you can rant about that, but the band has simply transitioned to a genre that most of you cannot respect or appreciate. That's something I must accept, but you also have to accept that your taste does not determine the quality of music produced.

Many fans that bitch about the bands change cuz we just dont care about adding to the fan base. We loved in flames for that specific sound. If I wanted to listen to emo or metalcore I would.
Songs are stupidly simple and predictable. Anders can't scream worth crap anymore. Get rid of him, speed up the tempos a little, add more solos, and bring back the "mid-evil" sounding melodies.
If you still like the new albums ur just easy to please. I've tried for yrs to like this new crap, I just can't.

@sketchomania Change is good, at least to some degree. Its boring when a band puts out the same album time and time again. HOWEVER, when a band starts making drastic changes to the style they are bound to get mixed reviews. A band that writes complex / energetic music can't just start writing slow / simple music. Thats NOT progress. Progress would have been in IF started incorporating in some Black-Metal, Folk Metal.....SOMETHING that isn't simple.

To me In Flames still has their unique "In Flames" sound in this album but they have blended multiple influences from previous albums while also changing. When you play so long I'm sure it's nice to try different things and see how they sound. They aren't as brutal as in the early days but their music has matured at the same pace that they have. So I think the album was well done.
