Yeah, definitely a fake. Sure, you have Aileron, Elevator, Rudder, and Throttle, but that's 3 x servos for cyclic, 1 x gyro for rudder, and 1 x esc for throttle. 5 signals. 4 port router. 8/10 for originality, 1/10 for FAIL.

Actually, use, I do know how networking works. He claims to be using servos with ethernet ports. Also, the beeping coming from his heli, when plugged in, is a standard RCG-35X ESC beep from a Trex450 combo kit. This ESC is not "ethernet" compatible. So how does he get his signal to his equipment from his 4 port router? There are no CHANNELS. He's not using a receiver, he's using a WIFI router. There's no AUX/ELEV/THR etc channel WITHOUT a receiver... He says he's using Wifi in the vid...

A mate has a Iphone and we was messing around with it and while it has one of the applications running and the light wouldnt go out while it was in use.

We left it for a couple of mins and didnt touch it and it went out and the application stopped working.

Arguing over whether or not this is real is exactly what Josh likes to see. He is a good guy and is fun to watch flying RC. This could be real, it could be a spoof. You have to admit, there is some real entertainment value to reading the comments following an announcement of this sort. It is pretty obvious though via the comments who has and has not played with RC helicopters in the last few years. :)

I am not defending the video at all .. all I am saying is that so far , every reason you have given does not prove the video is faked.

Personally I doubt he would be able to overcome the latency inherent in this design. Meaning how to get the signals to the servos at the proper time. But there is nothing preventing him from doing exactly what was shown in the video. IN FACT .. combined with helicommand or some other stabilization unit this could very well work.

Also you see at the beginning his phone light goes off indicating his phone went into standby mode, when you are using your phone the lights stay on, the only time its off whilst in use is during a call

Actually you are wrong .. The backlight will go out after the timeout set. Its a basic power saving feature. If you want your application to override this you have to set it to do that. Also while on a call the light only goes out when the phone is up next to your ear. And its not ONLY the back light thats out .. the touch screen is disabled also.

he can send as many channels as he wants to the heli. He has complete control of what is being sent. Its just adding another packet.

then you would need to be able to set up the pitch curve, gyro %. throttlr curve

4 point cyclic control .. thats the 4 axis tilt control ..

Tail .. a slider control just like the way you unlock the phone ..

Pitch and throttle .. another slider .. same as on a real tx..

Shit if he wanted .. I bet you could use a simple touch pad type control where you place two thumbs on the iphone and just control it that way.

Gyro does NOT need to be controlled by the tx .. just set it and forget it ..

While there is a chance that the video is faked .. There is nothing inherent in the video or in his description of the tech used that would render this impossible.

I assume that you have normal servos .. whats controling them ?? Do you still use a normal RX .. perhaps bypassing the rf section.

Did you get the iphone to generate a pcm stream and just dump that into some udp packets for a demon to decode and output pcm into the RX ( aftter the RF section ) ??
