They make much noise and people who live near them find the constant noise impossible to deal with. Wind turbines take a beating from salt air if near the Ocean. Ask the Danes right next door. Salt in the Air is killing their turbines. Wind tubines kill many birds and are one of the biggest eyesores you can imagine. They really don't produce electric power at an affordable rate.

That's not the half of it. After I saw the main face I think we are all talking about (in the center of the mushroom cloud) I decided to watch the whole thing in SUPER slow motion from beginning to end, frame by frame, from all angles (including upside down and at images of ALL sizes within the cloud.....little and large).

(there are SEVERAL faces, looking in different directions, including ones with tortured looks.....some look older, some look like infants....look in the shaft right below the main mushroom cloud as it explodes too.....there's one there as well) *shudder*

I believe it depends on the strength of the weapon and the debris. If the blast creates an exceptional amount of dust, that dust will be sucked up into the vacuum created by the blast, hence the dust mushroom cloud. If the blast is exceptionally powerful, the oxgyen in the air will be ignited, hence the fireball.

Wells in his 1914 book "The Last War", long before the nucleus was discovered. The actual bomb works by splitting (fission) of the NUCLEUS of either Uranium-235 or Plutonium. Hence, nuclear. It is however known by the "atomic" abreviation A-Bomb.

THERMOnuclear (aka the hydrogen bomb, H-Bomb) uses an atomic detonation to heat (hence thermo) a mix of hydrogen to the point it undergoes FUSION. This in turn sets off a second fission device. This results in a weapon MANY times more powerful. I believe the largest A-bomb is 100 Kt. The larges H-bomb is 25 Mt, 400 times as large. The Neutron bomb ignores the third stage, resulting in a blast of deadly neutrons. NO IT DOES NOT JUST KILL PEOPLE AND LEAVE BUILDINGS INTACT.

One reason is they are "suppose" to be used on other people so accurate testing can only be done on Earth. Also in space there would be no air to cushion the blast so satellites and the space station would be at risk. Not to mention the huge Electromagnetic pulse that would fry the electronics on the sensitive satellites

The shock wave attributed to nuclear explosions is made More intense by the air surrounding it, not cushioned by it. A nuclear explosion in space would be little more than a burst of light and radiation (and, as you said, an electromagnetic pulse), so gauging the effects of a similar bomb inside the atmosphere would be rather difficult.
