"Combat is best played with two players" ... uh, that's pretty much the only way to play Combat, unless you like to shoot stationary targets that no one is controlling. Armor..Attack adds much needed opposing AI to the mix, not that Combat isn't a blast to play with a friend.

I got the Vectrex when it first came out. I haven't played with it for years but I immediately recognize them when I see your vids. I remember those helicopters gave me some trouble. Armor Attack's themes isn't one of the best but I really liked it. Thanks for giving me warm, fuzzy, vector graphic memories.

I don't think the invisible maze mode was originally intended as a means to artificially increase the difficulty, and was more about playing the game with the overlay during the day or with a light on, so you could go by the overlay graphics instead of the neon vector lines. Kind of an interesting mix of real life physically drawn graphics melding with the virtual gameplay.

@Frogster7 Well, ultimately, you should have a 2600 as it's THE definitive classic game console. The Vectrex would be something to get afterwards, as it's way more of a novelty than an Atari 2600. That said, It's my favorite novelty console in the history of gaming, and deserves to be appreciated to this day.

@Frogster7 The Atari 2600, cheaper and easier to get games for at a cheaper price. Way more games to choose from and overall just a good deal. Now it would be recommended to get the Atari 7800 pro which allows you to play both 2600 and 7800 games. It'll only be a few bucks more.

Every time I play this, I think "Where's my reinforcements!?" 'Cause that's what this game seems like, the town is under attack, and your the only guy left to defend it... untill reincofcements arrive! But they don't... and you die... and now the enemy has a stratigic location to launch a full scale attcak on us. You guys didn't show up, now we're gunna loose the war! Wagh!

This game looks cool. I never owned a vectrex back in the day. Not that I didn't want one. My parents told me that one system was enough. I already had the Atari 2600 and there was no way I was gonna talk them into the Vectrex. The Vectrex was cool, sort of like a mini arcade at home. I had the Pac-Man and Donkey-Kong mini arcade machines back in the day. Remember those??? Good times

That invisible maze actually works really well with the overlay, because you can only see the maze when you're near it, or enemies are, because of the vector lights.
