There is something completely distorted with the collective thinking in this country where educated and intelligent people still can ONLY equate a "treat" for kids as having a sweet, sugar laden, and heavily processed food product. Why can’t a treat be an extra hour to play outside, or going to go see a movie (without the popcorn or candy), playing a game with the family, or going to the zoo? The possibilities are still endless even when you remove candy bars and sweets from the word treat.

Oreilly always has the last word on his shows and always insults guests that own him. Sometimes he makes good points, and as a Liberal, I think he's probably one of the most respected conservative talk show hosts out there, yet he's certainly got his...imperfections, and I can't tell you I'm his no 1 fan either.

OMG- I actually agree with Bill O'Reilly on something! I think that people should take the focus off of how heavy they are and instead concentrate on eating properly and exercise. Yes, being obese or too skinny will negatively inpact your health (even big body builders are "overweight" and do have an increased strain on their heart). Appreciate yourself and live a healthy lifeSTYLE, regardless of the number on the scale.

The problem i think is where we set the line between a normal deviation from the norm and an excessive deviation from the norm. In America, you have the overweight, but you also have the obese and morbidly obese which believe it or not is in the millions. It is within the norms to be overweight, but this should be what we call "fat". People however tend to reserve the word "fat" for the obese and worse still consider this to be normal deviation.

Moderation applies to necessary nutrients only. We need a moderate amount of salt, fat, vitamin A etc. There is NO SUCH THING as moderate amounts of aspartame, MSG etc. because these things don't belong in the body in any amount. There is such a thing as organic sweets, cakes etc. and they taste even better than the poisonous ones. You don't have to choose between optimum health and optimum pleasure as Bill would have you believe.

Fat parents have fat kids is not always true. Both of my parents were obese and I was thin for 28 years. I didn't gain weight until I had health problems (which were unrelated to my genetics - car accident, PTSD, etc.). I'm currently working on getting the weight back off and have lost 30 lbs.

There's a lot of hate directed towards fat people, but few want to pay attention to the fact that poor people are more likely to be fat than rich people because A.) the poor neighborhoods aren't safe to walk around in, and B.) Healthy food is often far too expensive, especially where poor people live. It's a new way to spit on poor people for being poor, basically. Only now, it's about them "not taking care of their health" or "being too stupid to eat properly."
