  • Just found this other channel. Love this lovely Goldgirl!!! I do alright, but aspire to do better. Thank you so much for this channel. I am very interested.

    xoxo

  • Hay, thanks a lot. I have a question. What if my monthly income changes. I don't know how to realize if you have commented back so if you could message me back that would be nice

  • @TooDestruct1v3 Do a budget based on what your lowest income would be. That way, anything extra is put in savings for when other months are a bit lean.

  • You are beautiful and thanks for the advice!

  • I think you should rehearse and redo this video

  • Best personal way I have found yet here in youtube. Thanks for the couching and I'll start watching your other "sexy" topics hehe. PS. I liked the quote "If you know the better you make the better"

  • my golden rule is put away $10.00 dollars every time i have change left over. so i mean every time i have $10.00 in spare change i will bank it. i started last week and allready at $30.00

and the month is not over yet. Try doing that. Plus what i put away usually about $80.00.

I just started this last week January 10th 2012. So i will see what it adds up in a year.

  • I like! I subscribed half way of watching this first video.

  • can you pls make more videos love this kind of videos

  • Great video! I'm a stay at home mom and am looking for tips on making some extra money to help. Suggestions? Thank you!

  • @nbeam82 For extra money I would say go around your house, look for decent things you don't use and sell them. Oh and keep your change (it adds up).

  • do you use coupons?

  • @TFlayWhite Not really-I generally just buy generic at the grocery store.

  • i want to kno how to make a budget

  • i like this video very educating hope it can work for me

  • Could you show us your morning routine ie school lunches and cleaning for the day.

    Washing tips Radom

    I know

  • Thank you! This video was really helpful!

  • great job thank you for your passion and interest in helping us all hugs

  • ur great in way of talking and supporting and i do really appreciate ur being honest

  • Just found your channel and have watched about 5 videos so far =) Great video! I'm also a frugal girl at heart and absolutely love Dave Ramsey! Thanks for talking about this because people are way out of control and have no idea how they get into the situations they do.

  • This is such a great video. I would love, love, love to see and hear more in depth about your multiple checking account system, as well as how to better set up a spreadsheet or budgeting document. Thanks!

  • @SplendidBelle Definitely planned for the new year-I'm hopeful that many resolutions include responsible spending for 2012!

  • I'll say! Thank you for sharing ideas! Your hubby is so lucky. It's hard to find a smart beautiful lady like you in my area. A lot of lassies here like to rely on men of means without planning on their own. I'll leave my comments on your other channels as well. Thanks again!

  • OK! I'll cut to the chase. I don't expect a direct answer. Do you think that hiring a babysitter is a waste of saved money for a middle-class family?

  • @Pongnikul If you mean a babysitter for an occasional adult night out or a break for mom now and again, then I think it's a great idea, if only to keep your sanity. If you're talking about getting a full-time nanny when the mom is not working, then I find that nauseating. Not only is it a waste of money, but it would seem that the mother's priorities are a bit out of whack.

  • Love this, but I have one question. What if you get paid twice a month and can't afford to have all of your monthly expenses taken out at the beginning of the month because you don't get all of your monthly income at the beginning of the month?? Hope this makes sense, btw, your vids are amazing!!

  • @Mrsmakemeup Then just spread it out over two installments.

  • Hi.there! I'm in Bangkok. Just want to share! No need to discuss about the different costs of living! How many babysitters have you hired? My friend's wife decided to quit her job for almost a year in order to feed her child by herself. How could you cope with this if you hired anyone to babysit your children? Thanks!

  • @Pongnikul I'm sorry, I don't understand your question.

  • can u show a sample budget and how you plan your money out?

  • I just found your channel the other night and cant stop watching your videos. I will make my way to your other channel too but Im really enjoying the topics on this one (cleaning, groceries, budgeting) What a great Channel !

  • Hi There, I'm also a SAHM of two boys. Your videos are so inspiring, since watching them, I am now a lot more aware of budgeting, and have followed your tips, also your grocery shopping and cleaning tips too, I must get a stick vac, great idea!

You seem really focused and in control, aswell as looking really glamourous, well done you!!!!

BTW, I love your dogs, they're so cute!

Thank you for sharing all your wonderful advise, looking forward to seeing more soon I hope!

    Suzie xx

  • @suzieboo100 Thanks, Suzie! Some would say I'm a little too focused, but it works for me! Glad you're enjoying the videos!

  • I like to see you fiddle with your hair.

  • @Pongnikul You might be in the minority, but thanks!

  • great video:)

  • You have 3 dogs! And your house is soooo clean! How do you do it? I have only one (shar pei) and I don't know how we all live with pet hair and all the others things that dog bring in. Please do a video about this! PLEEEESSSEEE

  • I loved this video. Very smart and very well done!! Thanks so much!!!

  • I liked this video. It is a great topic. More videos would be great!

  • love, love ,love your videos!! very inspiring. Great topics! I needed some inspiration-had company for a week and my house is upside down!!! every room!!! So I needed inspiration to get started...thank you!

  • thank you, thank you very much. Peace

  • you are super hot

  • good lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great advice!

  • Excellent advice!

  • Yes! Dave Ramsey! Financial Peace University (FPU). My husband and I took the classes (about 13 weeks) and in 7 months we were out of debt! We paid off a student loan and our car AND destroyed/cancelled ALL our credit cards. We budget for everything.

  • @33lucyp Congratulations and good for you!

  • Can you do another one of these in a little more in depth? Like set up how you do your budget as a sample or something? just some additional ideas?

  • @hurthammy Sure!

  • Thank you SOOO much for this video! I can't wait to watch your other ones on this channel:)

  • Are you going to do a video on grocery shopping? I would really love to see that.

  • @oncefoundmakeup I did.

  • I really enjoyed your video. The things you covered were very helpful to me. I am one who does wake up stressed and money is the main stresses for me along with other things.. I will be checking in on more of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Marnie this is the best video ... I can agree with you 100%, I squandered my money while I was young too. You are fortunate to have a husband that also can budget, I haven't been so lucky mine loves to spend.

  • @aliciav63 We make a good team!

  • Hey Marnie, I recently heard from a friend (a reliable friend) that the Govt.(not sure who exactly) is talking about or ready to pass somthing that will allow them to charge us for direct depositing!! She said it is to be 1% of the amount you direct deposit. I'm about to blow a gasket!

  • @swollfirehouse I have not heard that. I don't see how they can-it's not a governmental transaction. I would think that would be up to the banks.

  • Thank you for sharing !!

  • One question Marnie,

do you plan to work again when your boys are a little bit older?

I came to this question because obviously its much more pleasant to budget with a double income than with one ;-)

  • @zahnpastacremetube I really don't. I find that the income my family currently enjoys is more than enough for us. Of course, I say that now, but I'll never really know how I'll feel when the boys are out of the house. For now, I have no plans to go back to work outside of the house.

  • @lifewithgoldgirl thanks for your nice answer :-)

  • Oh my gosh, this is the story of my life. I blew so much money on nonessentials (makeup, clothes, etc) when I was working and living at home, not even having to think about it. Thousands of dollars gone. Then I moved out, got married, eventually got laid off from my job, had a kid, and now it's budget budget budget. We are still trying to get ahead to a place where we have comfortable savings put away. I wish I had learned this years ago.

  • @PinkZephe You'll find that no matter how much you make, you'll always budget. It's a good habit to get into, and I have a feeling you'll get to that comfortable place faster than you think!

  • I'm in love with these videos on this channel. I had parents who worked so hard to give me what I wanted and as much as I know I'm not horribly spoiled I don't have a good grasp on how to budget. I'm always going over my college loans and guiltily asking Dad to bail me out at the end of the month. This helps so much. When the new student loan period starts up I'm totally doing this. As a grad student I need to get my act together.

  • @mnmbrown18 It's never too late to start budgeting. You're just getting started in your financial career, so to speak, so I think you'll do great!

  • I would love more videos like this!!!

  • @sweetsanity19 Hoping to film a grocery store one this afternoon!

  • Love Dave Ramsey and I'm so glad you were willing to talk about this! Found you through Nuberxo. Subscribed to both of your channels!!!!

  • Marnie, I truly appreciate that you took the time to make this video in order to help others. I'm putting myself through college and more and more lately I'm beginning to realize that I NEED to learn how to budget properly so I can be responsible and still have a few fun things in my life. Hearing you explain everything makes it sound much less scary and stressful to think about. Thank you. :)

  • Halo, can you do video for grocery store list? Thank's

  • @TheMillabgd Sure!

  • @TheMillabgd Filming today!

  • Thank you very much!!! This topic was needed for my wife and I, since I have taken over the finances in the home. The key for us was writing it down( PLAN) to budget , have a savings atleast 10% to put away per pay period (depending on your income), work as a team and there is no "I' in team. You did a beautiful job in explaining this topic. We are ready to go!!! I will also check out Dave Ramsey. Thanks Again!!!

  • @SAIDMUSIC01 I am so glad you found this helpful. I definitely need to do some follow ups to this video at some point, since there is so much to talk about. Good luck on your financial journey to freedom! :)

  • Hillary Oversized Hobo in teal blue ;)

  • @theagla29 Oops-you got the wrong video!

  • im a teenager and this was very informative.. Thank you!!!

  • @soccrgirl765 It's good to start forming good habits early!

  • I got into a $11,000 credit card debt after I graduated from college and got it all paid off in about two years doing the method u just described! A friend ..who is also in Texas.. taught me this method. It really does work for me. How wonderful that your sharing this with everyone! :)

  • ...continued..also wanted to add, what has helped us to save throughout the yr is opening up a Xmas fund, which does not need to be used to purchase xmas gifts if u don't want to, but what i like about this account is that u cannot withdrawal the money u put in. u can deposit ur money, however much u want, it accrues a little interest, not much, then at the end of the fall season u receive a check..hope that helps someone out.

  • ur so beautiful...cannot believe ur 38! wow, u probably look like 28-29yr old..anyway..i love money management topics and tips and tricks..i just recently took over our finances...and i'm a stay at home mom, my hubby owns his own business, he is a barber, so our finances are daily, not wkly, so i just broke down our bills by the wk, pay them and then the rest is to spend and save, we save about $400 a month, never thought i could do that before, but God is good and He has blessed that...

  • I think this is so important.

  • Good video. Smart.

  • I'm a Realtor so my income is feast of famine as an independent contractor. Sometimes I don't get a paycheck for 3 or 4 months in a row. Stressful... but I love being my own boss.

  • That was a helpful video. This is unrelated to this particular video but I'd love to see a video from you about how you decorated your home. It's so bright and cheerful and homey.

  • Really good advice, that's how I've been doing it myself pretty much (except for the 'opening an account for each big thing' part but that's a GREAT idea)

  • @RubyWooScarlett Hi Ruby, We have this other bank acct set up and have money transferred automatically from our regular acct to that one for stuff like auto insur, certain big bills, school, etc. What's cool is that our normal account shows a more true balance. Then, I have all the other bills paid automatically from that other account and the money is always there and I never have to give it any thought. We do have savings and vacation accts, but you get the idea. You may want to try it! :)

  • Awesome video...Thank you so much Marnie!!!

  • Based on your life experiences, what happens if you have an "financial" emergency that you don't plan or expect? Such as, car breaking down, surprise trip to the ER, etc. Do you save a certain percentage or would/do you dip into your savings? Just getting a feel of what might work for our family...

  • @sdgirl389 You need to have an emergency fund, usually around $1000, that's just for those sort of things. That should be separate and apart from your other savings.

  • Wonderful video!

  • I loved this video! I wish you could do more about budgeting! I have been budgeting my money for the longest time, but I have recently started to do it in more detail! Because I do spend too much on makeup and needed to see exactly where it all went. So thank you, it's always interesting to know how other people do it!

  • Hey Marnie congratulations for your new channel !!! That's awesome !

And OMG that was a very smart and useful video that you made, I really mean it. It's so hard to budget. I'm in my last year of college, and I will be starting working for real money next year. That's a subject that bothers me a lot. Life has become so expensive those days (even in Europe!).

Keep posting these kind of videos, they are very useful again !

See you soon on BlogTV ;-)

    -Myriam

  • More videos like this would be great, Marnie...I've been married a year now and we are still trying to figure out what works for us.

  • This is a really good video marnie, please do more like this.

  • Great video! I can't wait to see what else you're going to talk about. I am really interested in the grocery store video. I've been married for almost 3 years and I'm still learning what works for us, so it's great to hear someone else's point of view. Thanks for sharing!

  • Marnie, I am so glad you choose the "BUDGET topic". I have been taken care of our finances for the past two years and there has been a huge improvement but I can ALWAY take the advice of real people like you who make it work. Question: I need to repave my drive-way and it's going to be in the thousands, I have some money saved but I don't want to take aways all my savings, what do you recomend? Thanks

  • @SuperSweetgirl007 That is a tough question. Is there a way you can save up a bit longer, or just patch the worst bits until you can afford to do the whole thing? Driveway re-paving is not something I really have much knowledge about, unfortunately.

  • @SuperSweetgirl007 you might want to check with the local cement company. Sometimes they don’t use all the cement they make and they don’t want to waste it and can deliver it to your home. They might even pour it for a minimal charge but you are at the mercy of the company. I was able get new sidewalks this way (which we had to put the forms in our selves) and only cost us $ 20 for the drivers time. It is much more less than thousands, but really how much is your time worth?

  • I hope I'm able to word this is a way that won't seem offensive, because this comment is intended to be the exact opposite! It seems as if you and your husband do well and have a good life as far as money. But I hope you know that you would never be able to tell. The fact that you said "I can't bring myself to go out and just buy things" made me respect you so much more than I already did! You're a great person! xoxo Ashley.

  • @JackDawsonLuver I totally get what you're saying and it wasn't offensive at all! Thank you-it means a lot that you noticed that we try to just be real people. :)

  • Marnie, This is great! I LOVE dave ramsey!! What tips can you give to someone who just lost 700 a month in income from losing work, and now pays all towards bills and can barely make it? they are looking for more work. it's hard even getting gas and food.

  • This was great advice, I am only a teenager and it really helps to learn this kind of stuff young! That would be great if you made more advice viedos like this!

  • 150 bucks a week for groceries seems low for me... but you live in Texas and I live in Germany, so I figure prices here are higher than in the U.S.

  • Helpful advice. Everyone could definitely benefit from budgeting better! Thanks

  • Great advice thanks. My husband and I have been discussing this very thing lately, and it is hard to know where to begin. This info helped thanks.

  • Hi Marnie, great video and am so excited about your new channel. From watching your beauty videos its obvious there is so much more to you - can't wait for future videos. Thank you C x

  • Such a great video! This is basically what I do for our family budget as well and it works out so much better then it was before. Great advice Marnie!

  • This video was great! I really appreciate you talking about this subject. I am also looking forward to a grocery shopping video. Thanks for sharing!

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVED this video! Thanks for all the tips, I'm definitely going to try this out! Can't wait for the grocery shopping video!

  • thumbs up! i started to manage my shopping expense last month, and so far i did really well.

  • Great tips Marnie. I haven't thought about the separate bank accounts for the bills only. I'm going to open another account soon.

  • Wonderful video!

  • Thumbs way up! This is exactly the way I did it when I was single. I have MS am unable to work anymore, but thankfully my husband swears by a budget, so we are good. So many people have no concept of saving! I am 33 and have been saving since I got my first allowance at 4! My parents used to give me $1.00 a week and I saved for 12 weeks to buy my first barbie! I love that you're doing this channel:)

  • by the way, we do NOT use credit cards..obviously that would help right now, but we dont use them.

  • what is the best way to deal with your finances when you have a job loss? Obviously there is a time when income is lower and then things get pushed back because you cannot pay as much. We are in that situation, half of rent from last month is due, full rent is now due..and the money isnt coming in fast enough..we have just plain gotten behind.

  • Very good topic to be discussed!

My boyfriend is in the Air Force :)

  • great video!

  • This is a really good video!!!

  • great video, really made me think about my finances and what i can change to make better, pls keep these kind of videos coming....

  • Wow! Love these talks. So informative and so sweet that you want to empower your subscribers. Can't wait for the next one. LOVE IT!!

  • Great advice. I want a bank account estaablished just for my make-up budget. :)

  • i usually don't subscribe to beauty gurus' second channels b/c i usually don't find the content to be that appealing/helpful. but this was very informative. i recently just got engaged and my fiance and i know nothing about finances. i've been saving/budgeting on my own since college but now, i think i need to have a sit down with my fiance so we can go over numbers and know exactly where we stand financially. thanks so much for this vid! defintiely subbing to this channel.

  • this is the most informative video that i've ever seen to you. would love to hear about how you've budgeted student loans and stuff like that.

  • Excellent information. Thank you for the sound advice!

  • Just letting you know we have similar backgounds. I grew up middles class; no vacations, rarely ate out. My husband used to be an officer in the army and I've been a stay-at-home mom after teaching for a year! Even though my husband has worked his way up the corporate ladder and he has a much larger income now, we still live a very frugal lifestyle.

  • i love this! i'm still in college and basically 100% dependent on my parents, but even with my internships i've been very careful w/ where i put my money. I have one account set up that can only be withdrawn from once a year, so it's the perfect way to save and not be tempted to clean it out and go crazy spending! it's never too early to save!

& youre so right about being well educated about your situation. being in denial about your finances will get you nowhere but into debt!

  • @MalibuBarbie141 I'm so glad you've figured this out so early in your life. You are way ahead of the game and you will have so much less stress in your life because of it!

  • loved the video and cant wait for next one xxxxx

  • Could you please do a mommy video.. tips tricks anything you have learned being a mom

  • @sarahbear1288 Sure!

  • Sweetie this is so important to say! Congrats for this video. Made more this!

Here in Brazil we learned so much with comunitys on ORKUT ( same facebook )many comunitys teach you to used your money better. ( Sorry my english, I hope that you understand what I say ), we learned to clean house with homemade products, how to made your hairstyle, nails, food and all things cheap and good.

On YT also have many tips for DIY and I love all.

I agree that all people can care their money well.

    xoxo

  • @MenezesMarta1 I love your idea for DIY-maybe I should show how I can clean out a clog in the kitchen sink!

  • Thanks for doing this vid! I'd love to see a deries on parenting, planning, housekeeping etc.

  • Good advice! You do have to keep track of everything you spend. Yes, been there, done that, with the surprise credit card bills! I quit my job when my son was born & stayed home too...many years ago! Btw...your hair looks very nice. Did you use that new Loreal stuff? Nice top, too!

  • @theniteowl9 I had my hair done that morning, so it was looking better than usual. :)

  • LOVE IT!

I always over budget for things like groceries, etc. Anything extra at the end of the month goes into savings along with the % I take off the top..definitely better to overbuget than under budget.

  • @11principessa11 You said it!

  • This was awesome!! Thanks for the tips.

  • I'm glad somebody from beauty community is doing a video on the importance of keeping a budget. I am very careful with money and I'm worried about young girls watching all those haul videos where a lot of the gurus are shopping like there's no tomorrow-on a weekly basis! Thanks for pointing out how planning and rational behaviour with money is very important. Great video. I enjoyed it very much.

  • @prettyinholland I think our current culture is obsessed with amassing so much material stuff, whether or not they can afford it-look at the housing crisis in the US! I hope people will start to assume more responsibility over their financial lives and realize it takes a bit of effort but it's so worth it!

  • @prettyinholland So tru! I'm rather young with my 23years but I have a job and everything and always wonder how in one sitting they buy 3 blushes that each cost like 25 dollar! And at the end of the haul you always wonder: can they even use that much stuff??

  • this was GREAT, please do more!

  • Thanks for this video. It was great. I am a college student just starting out learning how to budget and start living on my own so this is helpful. I would love more videos like this. Maybe couponing, if you coupon that is? (I am trying to learn how to coupon to save some money). Or just more like how to organize a home, anything like that would be so helpful as you seem to have it all together! I am so excited you decided to start another channel!! =)

  • I think you captured everything very well in thise 10 minutes! I've listened to Dave Ramsey's audiobook so I've heard these things before. You bring them across basic and do-able.

  • I think it would be great if you went over the envelope system in a video. It is hard when you first begin spending cash only but so worth it in the long run. I think you could do several more videos on finances as you go further in detail. It really is a topic that most steer clear of but everyone really needs to hear it.

  • Thank you for the tips, i am a mother of 3 kids under 8 and we spend round $300 every 2 weeks . Could you make a video of how to keep your house clean with kids thanks

  • wow great tips, thanks!

  • Wow; that is really low for food. My parents don't eat out a lot, but they spend about $200 for two people and that is Trader Joes food which is even cheaper than other places

  • loved it!! we're a military family (pretty small budget) and we track every penny. when hard times have hit (like trying to sell a house in a crappy market) we have an exact idea of how to get through and get back on top. ALso-we don't have kids-and we set up an account for each of us to have a certain amount of "fun" money each month that lets each of us have the freedom to buy or save up for what we want (like makeup :) Works in our lifestyle right now! Oh can't wait for grocery vid!

  • Thanks for the tips, Marnie!

  • I've learned more from you than business school so far.

  • Yes, everyone has what`s called FIXED expenses, these payments don`t generally change (mortgage, car payment, insurace etc). The rest are called VARIABLE expenses like food, gas, clothing, entertaining and so on. These are the exepenses you can cut and try to decrease to save money!

  • I am so glad I subbed to this channel. Excellent advice. I would enjoy a video on meal planning. I guess this could be incorporated with a grocery shopping segment. Any type of financial advice would always be appreciated. Thanks so much. Hugs!!

  • AMEN, sister! It's the exact same method here. I used to think it was common sense ("Isn't this how everyone does it?")... but unfortunately it's not for a lot of people. The key as you said is KNOWING or awareness. Great vid! Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Great advice Marnie! Having worked at a bank through my College years I definitely learnt the importance of budgeting and saving (seeing people up to their eyeballs in debt will do that to a person). I think the best thing I ever did, for me, was never have a credit card. I really think that was the key thing that helped me to only spend what I had, and not get into any non-security debt.

  • Great advice! I enjoyed this video as I have all your videos!

  • A great video right out of the gate Marnie!

    TY

  • Great video, Marnie!! Can't wait to see your video on grocery shopping. Also, a video on housekeeping tips would be great too! Thanks!!

  • @rapicelli Writing that down for a video...thanks for the suggestion!

  • I would love to see more budget videos!! I might like this topic more than make-up! *gasp*

  • @IsabelisLOVESit I could talk about this stuff all day! Actually, I could talk about almost anything all day. I guess I like to run my mouth...

  • as many of this videos as you want. I'm good at it, but like reminders :)

  • @kittyfaerie Reminders are good!

  • Great video, such good advice. I could do this better maybe, I don't keep specific track, I just have a rough grasp on how much I have to spend. I'm single so there's not too many bills, it's not hard to keep it all straight. I'm also lucky to be a natural saver, so if anything bad did happen or I accidentally slip up, I have a nice fat account just in case. Though that never happens, I feel like it would be a personal failure to raid my savings for anything less than a real emergency, ha.

  • @backliteyes It's always good to keep a strict budget, especially at an early age. It just gets easier with time. Ideally, you'd like to have about 6 months worth of expenses saved up, in case of a major catastrophe.
