sniping is an art; it is about stealth, sniping positions, patience, choosing your target and being discreet. in call of duty it is ruined because people feel they have to run around doing 720 double headshot cockslap shots and all that crap, where in real war snipers stay at the back, on the high ground. sniping = pussy warfare.

I wouldn't say that quickscoping KILLED sniping, I just see it as the tryhards who feel the need to 1080 ladder stall wallbang silent shot collateral everytime is what KILLED sniping. Knowing how to utilize quickscoping adds to your arsenal, but sniping in general is a long range game. if you could take it to semi-medium range and ESPECIALLY close range, well then .. that person clearly plays alot of CoD. But most of the time, the person with the assault rifle WILL win.

i was sniper when i played codbo, but there is no long range combats like we had in mw2 (derail, wasteland), at this distances (like this window to window combat in nuketown) even SMGs can beat snipers.

Personally, I am disgusted with what Call of Duty has done to society. It allows all these little kids to think they are the world's greatest shooter and think that "all they need is a .50 Cal and they can kill anyone," when in reality sniping is a very tough profession that requires years of practice to even attempt, let alone be proficient.
