I drink my beverages out of glass and stainless steel. I distill my own tap water, our tap water is very dangerous. It is full of excreted phamaceuticals and many other things you do not want to ingest. There is not one water treatment plant in the whole USA that can remove excreted drugs out of our water. Do not ever flush drugs into the water system. When humans take drugs they excrete them into the system also.

My English teacher today was talking to us about this movie. I can't say this is the type of documentary I'm willing to watch. But she was bitching about how evil plastic bottles are. It took so much painful cheek-biting to not say something to her, so instead I gave her a blank stare as well as rolling my eyes. This is ONE movie telling you the evils of plastic water bottles. I am traveling trhough Africa for year, been in Morocco for over five weeks and drinking the tap water. I haven't gotten sick from it yet. I use a nalgene and sterilize my water with a steripen....I rarely buy bottled water....right now it's all I can do.
I don't get it. So this documentary doesn't even focus on SOFT DRINKS, which cause a LOT more pollution since more people drink them. ALSO, wtf are we supposed to drink? Water isn't the only thing being packaged in plastic. If plastic is the problem, why is this entire film focused on bottled WATER? Why aren't they complaining about Gatorade, Nesquik, Gallons of Milk, Dole juice blends, Coca Cola, etc? It's not the product, it's just the plastic - so why don't we focus on eliminating the use of plastic from the entire world in general - instead of picking something stupid like bottled water to make people feel stupid about?

The other is the fact that the bottled water industry is not regulated by the government at all. Meaning, all kinds of shit can be in it that can potentially be harmful and IS harmful and the government is doing nothing.
@YouGotScanned First off, you have to package other products like juice and cola because we don't have taps running to our houses that dispense those beverages. Furthermore, there is a deeper issue than the plastic that this documentary doesn't do a good job of highlighting. I recommend watching Blue Gold: World Water Wars for a better exploration of the problems with buying and selling water.

@NotThatDrunken this all depends on where your from, whether you have city water or well water. Also if your waters been polluted, all these things play a part in how your water tastes. I can taste the difference between a drink bottled in glass from one bottled in plastic such as Soda. The flavors in my opinion are effected by its container and plastic just happens to be a petrochemical container that i feel leaves a bad flavor in the drink. I'd write more but i'm limited lol...

My tap water tastes & smells like bleach, whether in a plastic or glass container. My bottled water doesn't. I'm trying to quit drinking sodas because it's VERY bad for me. So... bottled water or soda? Yes, I will be choosing bottled water. I have a filter built in to my fridge. Just put a new one in and it's STILL "bleachy". While bottled water may be from a tap, at least it has been filtered with industrial strength filters.

My English teacher today was talking to us about this movie. I can't say this is the type of documentary I'm willing to watch. But she was bitching about how evil plastic bottles are. It took so much painful cheek-biting to not say something to her, so instead I gave her a blank stare as well as rolling my eyes. This is ONE movie telling you the evils of plastic water bottles. Before completely changing your drinking habits, do some more research, will ya?

I am traveling trhough Africa for year, been in Morocco for over five weeks and drinking the tap water. I haven't gotten sick from it yet. I use a nalgene and sterilize my water with a steripen....I rarely buy bottled water....right now it's all I can do.

I don't get it. So this documentary doesn't even focus on SOFT DRINKS, which cause a LOT more pollution since more people drink them. ALSO, wtf are we supposed to drink? I only drink bottled water because soft drinks will kill you, and so will the tap water. This documentary is VERY misleading because it doesn't mention the TERRIBLE substances found in tap water, like fluoride, copper, lead, and chloride. NOTHING IS SAFE FOR US TO DRINK!

Water isn't the only thing being packaged in plastic. If plastic is the problem, why is this entire film focused on bottled WATER? Why aren't they complaining about Gatorade, Nesquik, Gallons of Milk, Dole juice blends, Coca Cola, etc? It's not the product, it's just the plastic - so why don't we focus on eliminating the use of plastic from the entire world in general - instead of picking something stupid like bottled water to make people feel stupid about?

The other is the fact that the bottled water industry is not regulated by the government at all. Meaning, all kinds of shit can be in it that can potentially be harmful and IS harmful and the government is doing nothing.

Furthermore, there is a deeper issue than the plastic that this documentary doesn't do a good job of highlighting. I recommend watching Blue Gold: World Water Wars for a better exploration of the problems with buying and selling water.

I watched this film not long ago off Netflix and its a very fascinating film. Honestly it has me convinced that purchasing bottled water is a waste of money lol... Seriously i purchased a case of bottled water once and it tasted worse then the tap water when compared. Great film :)

@NotThatDrunken this all depends on where your from, whether you have city water or well water. Also if your waters been polluted, all these things play a part in how your water tastes. I can taste the difference between a drink bottled in glass from one bottled in plastic such as Soda. The flavors in my opinion are effected by its container and plastic just happens to be a petrochemical container that i feel leaves a bad flavor in the drink. I'd write more but i'm limited lol...

@KangenKeren pesticides on agricultural crops are non toxic and don't harm the actual product. You should rinse every fruit or vegetable regardless anyways. It's either a pesticide treated crop, or a product invested with insects and their feces. Think about it...

Though I have LITTLE hope for the human race, I still drink water from the tap, recycle glass and plastic, and avoid styrofoam so, I can atleast say "I tried".

My tap water tastes & smells like bleach, whether in a plastic or glass container. My bottled water doesn't. I'm trying to quit drinking sodas because it's VERY bad for me. So... bottled water or soda? Yes, I will be choosing bottled water. I have a filter built in to my fridge. Just put a new one in and it's STILL "bleachy". While bottled water may be from a tap, at least it has been filtered with industrial strength filters.

In this region of the world, bottled is the only reasonable choice, but using a filter and bottling your own is the way to go, PROVIDED you aren't getting fluoride, then you're better off guzzling fecal feeding microbes.

The bottled water issue is of concern when it comes to the plastic containers and the use of fossil fuels to transport water to where it is used. But when it comes to the overall problem of concern over water availability, the number one problem is overpopulation coupled with affluence: how it is used. The Atlanta area is overpopulated, as is the L.A. area. Stop growing the economy through population growth and you will have a chance. Take personhood from corporations too.

The ideal way to get your water is to go to a mountain spring and gather it yourself. I have been doing this for over a year now. I have not used a plastic water bottle in over two years. You can find a spring near you at findaspring[dot]com .. using glass bottles both liter and 5 gallon jugs is best .. also, if you are not able to go to a spring, I recommend buying your water from "Mountain Valley Spring" .. google it .. they deliver you water in Glass Jugs... no plastic.

hey it would be a lot easier to follow the conversation without all the mind blowing music.it kills me the way they make movies where the dialog yoy can barley hear over the music!! seems there all this way now. You have to keep the remote in your hand at all times to combat the barrage of of the blast that hits yoy at regular intervals during just about movies its been done to death.look on it sure ruins some good stuff.i wonder do they ever listen to there finished product.
