WOW I cant remember how many times I bumped this album when it came out, even in the midst of Illmatic's dominance and Prodigy of Mobb deep's emergence and Gangstar's innovation this album was still in heavy rotation amongst the purists in NY OC may not have the recognition and the material success like his 90's renaissance compatriots but he was a definite contributor to the art who gave us a classic LP,
this is one of my all time fav tracks! I have played this song on my itunes well over 2,000 times. I played my tape so much it popped and i had to ebay it to get a new tape and then i paid another $45 for a import CD. This LP is a 5 mic classic for life!
This should have lead on to record deals like Nas & Mobb Deep got for the same style. I know his underground rep is x10 them but he should be made financially stable for his contribution to the golden age.
This is still to this day one of my most played tracks ever!!! O.C. was beast but due to his label he got no push. His album was a 5 mic for sure. Pure hip Hop to the fullest
This a good example of how simple and beautifull rap beats where in the 90's. Yet lyrically complex. Sometimes I listen to this old rap and think man when I was a teenager this is how rap was. This type of stuff was common. We didn't think anything of it at the time. Man, I hope hip hop gets itself together I miss this stuff......................
Damn Gee I just posted the same shit from my Word..Life Cd.If I knew this joint was already up I would have put up another track.(You got good taste in Hip Hop Stay up and keep representing)(5000)
I've been looking for this song for years....I was so mad when my OC tape popped back in the day. This is for all the true heads who appreciate lyrical content and beats that'll snap your c-4 vertabrae. Classic shit. Nuff said.
This and "Butter" by A Tribe Called Quest. Love that sound. Fav song on this album
