Very interested in this modification. I understand you used a switch to bypass the incoming signal and add an aux cable jack....which wire is it? And where do I make the disconnection?
No FM Modulator. It's a simple modification adding the extra circuitry for the input jack and switch. The only internal modification is the desoldering of a single wire from the receiver to the volume potentiometer to add a SPDT (Single Pole, Dual Throw) switch. This modification cost less that $20 and everything was available at Radio Shack.
Humm, I would like to know more on how you did that. I was thinking of buying a radio from the RetroSound site that makes the new / vintage-ish looking vw radios that fit nicely in the dash that play mp3... but heck.. I like your way better. I'm getting a 68 Beetle soon.

All you really need is :
1 SPDT switch
1 1/8" female phono plug
2 10K resisters
wire
solder
heatshrink tubing
